Democracy in Pakistan will always be a farce
by Anurag Shrivastava on Sep 18, 2007 12:27 PM  Permalink

Nawaz Sharif was an ally of religious party and had the strictest form of Shariat Bill passed by the partliament which would have made Pakistan into a totally theocratic state ( not that it is not Islamic but not that bad ). That would have been the end of democracy in Pakistan. Mushy's taking over of Pakistan kept the religious parties quite for a while and now he fighting a full scale battle with them - a fight to finish. On side is he and his Sindhi friend Benazir and a few generals - and the other side is the Punjabi-Pushtoon Islamic warriors led by Nazwaz Sharif.

Forget about Pakistan what about India
by Pawan sharda on Aug 29, 2007 02:06 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

India being true democratic country but what have we acheived politically... just a corrupt politicians... We are just meek spectators who see Parliament proceedings once we elect our leaders. They in open play with our emotions, go and ally with opponent, take their own decisions where they have their own personal interest etc.... We too need a revolution in our country where we can wipe out corrupt politicians and have a good governance... No one dares to take a tough stand against terroist, All political parties are regional based which is mordern form of Old era where our country was divided in various kingdom foghting with each other... Some foreigner comes like Sonia and takes advantage of this and will rule the country

by Pandu Havaldar 61-62 on Aug 15, 2007 10:44 PM  Permalink

Mr. Hamid, if you clean shave, would you be called Hamida? I do not think so. If Musharraf goes will democracy return Pakistan? I don't think so. Bad habits die hard

Religious democracries (theocracies) are farce
by Sharad on Jul 25, 2007 03:52 AM  Permalink

Religious democracies are farce. They are only tyrannies by majority. So long as you have blasphemy laws, and forced retaining of people into your own religion, these are meaningless democracries not fit for 21st century.

Wrong Comments
by on Jun 29, 2007 11:48 PM  Permalink

If people are too much concerned with the integrity of Pakistan, why not join with the present Govt., it means that political parties only want to take power, they don't have anything to do with or concern with State of Pakistan. There are many other realities too that can be discussed, if needed, about the other so called political parties.

Wrong article, Mr Mir.

>>> India can only resolve its disputes with Pakistan when there is a democratic government in Islamabad. If Musharraf signs any deal with India in the coming days, the next government will not honour that deal.

Mr Hamid Mir,

If I remember correctly :-) both zulfiqar bhutto and nawaz sharif were democratically elected, werent they ?

Ahh the sweet smell of irony... I just love it :)

Fact is that in Pakistan, even if free and fair elections are held, the people will vote for some radicals (like Nawaz Sharif and his Shariat bills :) )

Fact is, even the succeeding democratically elected govt will not honour that deal :-)

Sometimes, its just strange.. how much you hate us kaafirs.. that you spend most of your money in anti-India activities (eg Kashmir, Punjab) rather than trying to improve your industrial and agri base, so both countries benefit.

And please, dont talk about human rights, ethics, and lack of secularism, etc in India (or the comments here, which are much more mellow compared to what you would find in Pakistani forums). It reminds me of - pot calling the kettle black.

Regarding, Bhagwan Rana, this is an exception to the rule, isnt it?

Well said tomcat. First Pakistani peoples must be ready for democracy rather than counting days for current dictator. Mentality of "aam pakistani janta" (Pakistani common peoples) should be ready to accpet democracy in their own country. History is proof of whom pakistani ppls has elected and what happened to them.
The first start point for them to stop hating others becuase they have nothing and others are growing.

Mr Mir,

Your intentions are absolutely right, I cannot find any problem with that. I wish you good luck in your struggle against the military dictator. Its good to see there are some peaceful people who are not rabidly anti-India (more specifically, anti-Hindu) in Pakistan.

>>I don't want to start a new debate that who is more violent because i respect all the religions.

Wish you really mean it, and more people in Pakistan were like you.

But to express shock (fake?) on this forum because of a few comments and lecture us on secularism is something really funny.. And this after we all know how Hindus are persecuted in Pakistan. Forced conversions, rapes and kidnaps, etc are the norm. Just the data will prove it - In India, the population of muslims has increased percentage wise, while in Pakistan, the population of Hindus has reduced drastically from some double digit figures to hardly 1% in a short span of time. Cannot deny that, can we?

Why these pakis are here?
by Sam on Jun 27, 2007 08:52 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Why these pakis come to Indian boards? Looks like they dont have their own websites and other forms of discussion. Even if they have it probably might be filled with anit-India, anti-US posts.

They also die for Indian movies. Such jealous fellows. Cant achive anything on their own.

Now they will all start learning Chinese. After some time these Han Chinese will start copulating with them. Then some new version of these pakis will come out. That is the only hope for pakis to start thinking something other than old nonsense.
