President of India should not be a weak candidate
by chiranjiv mandilwar on Jun 17, 2007 08:25 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

As a nation we claim that we are rapidly progressing. To show this to the world we need to have people at the top of some calibre and who can represent India in good light.

I am afraid Mrs. Patil would fail to deliver anything expected of a president of India.
She will only be remembered as an ex president of India without anything to her credit and that is what she is lusting for.

I would not say she should rise to the occasion, but ruling party should realise that as a president of India they need to put a strong candidate who can represent our country on international stage in good light.

What Mrs Patil is capable of doin is just to become a loyal servant of Nehru family and she would prove nothing more that a rubber stamp.

I feel sorry for the country.

Thanks for making me realise that I can be a candidate for the post, which so far I had never thought of.

I dont know much about Mrs. Patil. Only thing I can make out from the comments of her husband that they have won some big lotterly. And for the post of president of India we dont need a lottery winner.

Someone like Mr. Rajendra prasad or Mr. APJ Kalam when elected as president, its not that they are only honoured but I feel that the post of President also gets honoured.

I will be very happy to see a woman as president this time, but she must have brain and wisdom of her own.

I am really surprised the way comments are being posted about Mrs. Pratibha Patil. Most of the peaple are putting their ignorance about her as her fault.

Off course she had been a Governor of Rajastan since last 3 years, but when she was in active politics, she had distinction of being very clean and straght forward person. She was never in news for wrong reasons, and most important, she had never been considered Close to Gandhi Family, as blamed. Had been the case so, she would have become Chief Minister of Maharasta 25 years ago, but she had always climbed the ladder of success on the basis of her no-nonsence, low profile, straght forward and clean image.

Her name is not new to the people who are interested in politics since last 25-30 years or more. So plz, plz and plz don't put the burden of your ignorance and lack of knowledge on her.

And about her personality, plz also read the comments by Mr. Rajdeep, above, or ask the people who know her.

MUST BE EQUALLY SHOCKING TO MRS. PATIL ALSO.

So far there is no word of any nature from Mrs. Patil also over her being choosen as presidential canidate while with the rider from her husband. She as a seasoned devotee of Nehru family only must be surprising with the benediction by Sonia. Mrs. Patil now should rise to the occassion and withdraw in favour of Dr. A P J Kalam.

I agree. She is an unknown candidate. Dr. Kalam is the best man for the job. She should acknowledge that and place national good over her own.

Well guys this seems to be the only presidential election where there are going to be ego clashes and the president elected will be worst ever to hold the esteemed psotion of position of POI.
This is bloody mockery of the entire democracy and the republic.
And the problem is that till the time we keep electing popular or powerful goons,we will never get rid of any of the problems facing the country.

worst ever? how aalsi?

every election we go through this ... each party has a candidate ... each party's supporters don't like the other party's candidate. how's it different this time?

How is this a mockery of democracy? Have any constitutional provisions been violated? or must BJP's candidate always win for an election to be considered fair?

If you're really an alsi, don't bother to respond. LOL

Mr Baliff,I do not approve of any candidates proposed by any of the political parties, this time over.I hate BJP and the congress too. They are looking for puppets and not a president.
If you think that that is not the case then wait and watch.
If ever something like office of profit bill or anything like that comes up for presidential stamp,it will never be returned back for review and amendments.Left and congress did not like Abdul Kalam.he has a mind of his own,so they want a puppet.
and if you can understand that then atleast i can consider you a human and not an animal.LOL

aalsi, your approval or disapproval makes no difference. what's more important is that UPA does not approve of Kalam continuing and considers Patil to be a better candidate. BJP has also not put in Kalam's candidature yet, and if they don't, it can mean only one of the two things - either Kalam isn't interetsed in a second term or BJP too considers him unfit for another term.
