Who is Listening !!!!!
by on Jun 13, 2007 05:09 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Who is listening the voice of people ?
It,s really not a matter, who ever may be the president. In Indian politics president really don't have any power to take the nation in a expedited progressive path.
So nothing to bother or expect a change wheather it's Ram or Shyam

'pratishthapana' in this august office has natonal significance. NDA followed up with its 'Jai Vigyan' extenstion to 'Jai Jawan and Jai Kisaan' with instituting Prez Kalam. Indian space, nuclear and a range of other techonologies had come of age. UPA one desires would be able to convey a nationwide message of no less appeal.

Getting Sense And Sensibility Right
by dull roots on Jun 13, 2007 04:50 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

If we go by the way Left have named the two new Calcutta bridges - IshwarChandra VidyaSagar, & Sister Nivedita, one can sense that the Leftists have got their sense of values and sensibilities right.

They can be trusted to assist in making a right choice for Indian President.

how ridiculous can reasoning or unreasonableness get!
Name two bridges and you can be trusted to one of the highest positions in the country? I can give you more than two good names for roads, bridges and airports, that certainly does not make me fit to run for president... or does it?

Concede, the logic is bit of a stretch! Naming bridges is not exactly the same as proposing a name for Prez!

We need a good President who can insulate the various Institutions of governance from politics of the day. There are implicit powers available within Constitution Structure which can be utilised by a competent Prez backed be vigilant Press to usher a healthy growth of all such institutions. Hence knowledge of Indian Constitution is a MUST as leftist insist.

But on their second constraint, being aloof from politics may be an advanatge.

RESTRUCTURING THE NATION'S GOVERNANCE
by Vishwamitra Singh on Jun 13, 2007 03:27 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The governing system created by British to administer the India as a colony is still retained by us the people having vested interests in prolonging this agony not because we are concerned about the progress of this country but to perpetuate the loot. It is high time that we bring in changes is our democracy.
Today I had gone to a book shop and bought a book titled " The Representation of the People Act 1950". Just to identify the loopholes in the system. Let us become serous and pass on the democracy to the rightfull people, the people of India by taking it out of the hands of few power brokers. Switch on to the Presidential form of Government. Ofcourse there are other actions also required to be taken but first we have to get convinced that enogh is enough and change is required. Just post your messages to say YES or NO for change.

Mr. Singh, I fully agree your observation. In our Governing Systems lot of loop holes are there. For Eg: What Indira Gandhi did after her election set aside by the Allahabad High Court. From that a onwards this stupid congress party made lot of amendments to Constitution. I pity for our country people, because still they are bringing them to power and do not know when they are going to realize their responsibility like westerners Eg.UK, USA, France etc., Only people have to change to oust these power brokers/goondas. In my opinion we may not get president like Great Mr. APJ Abdul Kalam type personalities instead of that calibre , power brokers's chelas may become Presidents in future. I think God also cannot save our country.

Dear Mr. Vishwamitra Singh, Thanks for showing your concern for the deceptive administration under which our government is controlling the public. I agree with your views. Today the beurocrates and politicians have joined to loot the country. How to do it is the second step. The first step is to make people realise that they are being looted. Their money and the money being taken as loan from other nations and international agencies is being siphoned out and being deposited in foreign banks by these people without their knowledge.

New President for Bharat i.e. India- manipulations apart?
by Vinod Tuli on Jun 13, 2007 02:26 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Sheela Bhatt's rare columns are always interesting and to the point. Here she has come a bit too late on the scene. All speculations had been rife for the past few weeks; print and electronic media has devoted much more time and space than what was required, if at all? Nothing surprising as such for the present day Indian "DEMOCRACY", which has become a fiefdom of select few, unfortunately.Net result would be the verdict of the disgruntled/unwanted politicians with utter disregard for the Indian populace, as all know. Where are the public sentiments? Kalaam - Bharat Ratna well before being elevated to the so called "TOP POST", was initially brought in by a Party, which now, does not want him for the second term for unexplainable reasons and want an ageing - though a true patriot and a commoner for that matter. In contrast Congress initially, floats Kalam's name, only to be dumped in favour of pliable average level (as compared to KALAAM) persons who can be dictated to. What is best for the nation and the people's verdict, have gone un-noticed. Constitutional propriety does not give any 'real power' to Rashtrapati- we all know. Then why drag the issue? Let the nation know in clear terms that so far as President's appointment is concerned is solely politicians' prerogative and the Media should be advised to keep their channels not to waste time to ascertain 'PUBLIC VIEW POINT'. Still kudos is due to Sheela Bhatt for an inspiring write-up.

Not bad idea. Since there is no work & responsibilities are associated with this post, hence its hardly matter who is there? If she get selected, politics might become lucrative & our leaders may become little bit productive.

Dilution all round...
by Rangasamy Vijay on Jun 13, 2007 02:07 PM  Permalink

When arenas of real power like parliment & assemblies themselves have been reduced to a state rat holes of boot licking corrupt politicians, who can compromise anything for the sake of money and power, what is there in a presidency which is after all a decorative post with a fall back portfolio to safe guard the constitution. Let madam choose any one on the street- no ripples expected in the Indian political scene..

Sonia's calculation
by Ram Sharma on Jun 13, 2007 12:19 PM  Permalink

sonia wants a person, whose only qualification should b that he is very faithful to her as the next president, so that he does not raise any point in case she wants to become pm at any point of time. then she will remove the dummy pm mms. though she is still controlling the government, but becoming pm of india will fulfill her long held wish. then people like QUATROCHI, family friend of sonia, will again have a field day in the country.

why is not anyone considering APJ for a second term - seems he is not giving more priority to party's interests as compared to country's interests! These shitty political parties lead by even shittier leaders need a sycophant not a prez.
