great move by india
by ashish sinha on Jun 11, 2007 10:01 AM  Permalink

Good that we are sending our troops to Afghanistan. Its strategic for us to have a reasonable presence there.

Afghanistan could prove to be vital during any future combat with pakistan. Its good for us to be in afghanistan.

RE:Reconstruction work??
by ashish sinha on Jun 11, 2007 10:05 AM  Permalink
hey guys, this is a very routine kind of argument that is often used to shoot down a move. Take for example when we tested our nuclear weapons in 1998. Some people said we could have spent that much time and money on improving girl education in our country.

Now how do you counter that. While girl education is important, testing our nuclear weapon was also important. The bottom line is that we have to carry all threads together.

hence while improving roads in our own country is important, helping another nation in need, that could rightly give us much needed geo-political advantage in times of need, is also important.

I hope i could make my point clear.

peace

Taliban menace-134 commandos for Afghanistan
by Bodh Ramdeo on Jun 10, 2007 09:12 PM  Permalink

Maybe this token amount should be raised to the tens of thousands - take the fight to these Islamo-terrorists -they're already making it hell for people in Kashmir and elsewhere in India - India should also deploy at least 50,000 to 100,000 jawans on the Afghan side of the Pak border to send a stiff warning to Generalissimo Mush and forestall Pak mischief.

A step in the right direction
by Piyush Bhargava on Jun 10, 2007 08:15 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This step should have been taken long time ago.India should extend its footprint. The argument that we should also look at our internal security holds no water. This is a very myopic view.Look at what China has done in sudan. They are taking out oil in Sudan and thier refineries are guarded by their security forces in Darfur.60% of trade of Sudan is with China.Do you think China is doing it for Charity. All over the world the Chinese beat us in bagging tenders for Oil wells. You cannot go into these countries without solid backing. The more reach and influence we have the more secure we will be.And for this you have to have guts.At present India is all air and no muscle. This step has been long overdue.

Oh, wow! So Mr Piyush wants India to be eaten from inside further & further; no matter how many blasts happen, how many innocent get killed, how cooly our internal security is blown to smithereens. Great idea that!
Stop living in fantasyland Mr. Piyush. China has strong internal security. They have strenghtened their internal infrastructure first & then are expanding outward. Not like India where anybody can come, screw & vamoose. I know this because I am working in China at present & can see the vast difference in their & Indian outlook.

So you want India to be like China. They can crush popular movements with Tanks. This is what you want the Indians to do.You don't need commandos for law and order situations in India.Perhaphs you have lived in China for too long.It seems you have forgotton what democracy is all about.Sending commandos to protect our people and assets in foriegn countries is part and parcel of developing business.By your logic we should then close down all our embassies and stop doing business abroad. This way we will save a lot of money and put the government staff on first improving the internal security in india.Grow up Mr.Thakur.I think you would never have passed the IFS exam.
We have enough forces in India to take care of internal problems. Each organ of the state has been assigned its duties.Don't expect the defence forces to handle day to day law and order problems. And don't expect India to be like China.

One more thing. These guys are not going to stop.If you keep sitting in India trying to improve our internal security, they'll still come and foment trouble. So where does that leave you. You'll be a sitting duck. And that is what is happening right now.You are a sitting duck and they take it as a sign of weakness. So the fight has to be taken to their courtyard. If Pakistan attacks India what do you expect the Indian defence forces to do.First improve our security or fight Pakistan? Business is not going to wait for your so called internal Security. As I said earlier all organs of the state have been assigned their duties. If our interests need to be protected in foriegn countries then the government should take appropriate action.Foriegn policy and internal security go hand in hand but operate and different levels.I hope you understand this fact.

Well then, when some issue like the Graham Staines murder or the Nun Molestation issue happens & the concerned countries send their troops or rather commandos (in your style) to India for protecting their people, we should have to accept it without any objection. That time if a furore is created over foreign interception in Indian affairs, that will be the height of obstinacy, mind you.

You seem to be very confused.Protecting national interests and protecting individuals are two very different subjects. You do not seem to understand that law and order problems in the country are handled by seperate security personel. And the external threats are handled by a different set of people. Moreover the Indian commandos have not been sent without the permission of the host country. The Indians have not gone there like Rambos.Since the Afghan Government is already streched for resources they had asked the Indians to send in thier resources.Similarly if the indian Government is unable to protect the assets of another country then it might ask that country to do it itself.
As far as Staines case is concerned it was an individual act and the law is taking care of it.He was there in his individual capacity. He had not signed a contract with the government to preach his religion. Grow up man

I fully support U....
There is No Comparison between India & China on the Defence/Security issues. China has 3 fundamental things as needed: Muscle Power, Financial Power, Will Power. Seems to me Internal Security indide China is way much better than India, even though they had some disturbances in Uyghur area dominated by the Islamic Uzhbek militants. But China must have crushed that. Unlike India where we have a Dhamna PM who told Mush that they are also a victim of Terrorism. This Dhamna I heard that had some Degrees from reputable Universities. But he should have become a Comedian and served his people much better. Another fellow is Buddhuraj (i.e Shivraj) Patil who last year without any evidence blamed RSS for the Bombay Train Blasts. And pretty soon this Buddhu Clown will become the next President of India to make sure that Antoniaji has 2 puppets in our so called Parliament. If we have these type of people in the Goverment how we can secure India. First secure your own country then think about securing others. By the way our President also is very weird: he still hadn't decided about the fate of the Dog Afzal Guru, who almost killed MPs in the Parliament. So this is India and we have Tall Talks to protect other countries. I feel Extremely Sorry for our Fauzi brothers who are trying their best to protect us.

Indian commandos for Afghanistan
by Pat Thakur on Jun 10, 2007 06:33 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Is Mohammad... sorry, Manmohan Singh gone nuts? There are so many places in India where security needs beefing up - Mumbai, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Kashmir, Gujarat, Bihar, Punjab, NEF States etc. because of the perennial danger from Terrorists.
What is the need to throw water & pacify the flames on somebody else's when your own ass is burning? The Congress is hell bent on destroying this country.

Hey Stupid !! This may be the best tactical step against the fight against terror so far. We were fighting those terrorists from our soil. Now if we take that fight to their soil they will feel the heat. India is a no doubt strong power but needs to prove it sometimes also.

About Indian Commandos
by on Jun 10, 2007 06:25 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

is it really necessary for Indians to have security from another INDIAN COMMANDOS, is it worth to get another person killed just protecting you, let life go on dont take another person life for just living your own life, its not worth, if the commandos are coming let them come for the reconstruction of the country but not for some useless protection, when are the people going to understand these

Hey man I'm afraid you are 200% wrong, Absolutely damn wrong. Why not send our jawans to protect our people working out there. I believe its the best thing to do that, protect the lives of our fellow citizens. Don't you think that those people working out there have a right not to be killed by terrorists who don't want to get their country developed? Man, people are risking their lives to help others. Surely our Commandos will help to stop attacks on the innocent workers or even provide security to the people living there. And by the way, its not a useless protection, its a good thing that we are doing for us as well as for them. Thats one way where the relations between us and them can even get much better. GOT IT?

we are in Afghanistan for past 4 Years,. and have not known about any threat from Taliban, even though i put sindoor and roam through the whole country without security, i have even gone to the rmotest area of Afghanistan, i even went to Paktika Province which is considered as a dead land, its not the taliban threat which is killing Indians, its the showoff of the Indian which is the main reason for such attacks, you dont speak messing things about them they dont mess with you, its the ideology of the peoplewho boast themselves about being that brave, since i am a women staying with my husband, then why dont something happen to us,
please give a break about all the fear of Taliban, they dont hurt unless you dont mess, i dont know who these people are but i do consider them as human beings, its uptp others to decide, the real people are someone else, they are the ones who not only wants to kill an Indian but everyone, its not about religion its about killing, its about destroying the peace of the whole world, many people have been warned not to come to Afghanistan, but do anyone listen, its money which brings them not responsibility, its told on All India Radio that its not a place worth working, then also they come why ????????????,
for us one side it belongs to my father-in-law so we had to come and we got settled here for few years but its not worth staying here for the sake of money, its worse than the jungles of Africa?????????????????????
