UNFORTUNATE
by MajorMurugan on Jun 04, 2007 07:48 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Another unfortunate incident leading to loss of precious life. Unless the high stress level is reduced by decreasing the workload of the overworked,& understaffed Indian Army, Such incidents will keep on increasing. No amount of Councelling will be enough, until the jawan gets proper leave on time & a good financial security. Its difficult for civilians (our Beaurecrats, Politicians,Policy makers) to understand the problem of the jawan. And just dont bother to address their grievences. The Army is just left to fend for itself 'cause it does not form a vote bank nor it belongs to a particular caste/community or religion. The Army always gets step motherly treatment from all the Govt. One recent example is the refusal of the Govt to have a representative of the Armed Forces in the recently formed commitee to decide the pay & policies of govt employees.

u r right major.. our army needs major revamps.. those who oppose 6th pay commission and pay hikes to govt employees should understand that the army which defends this country and helps in all calamities is also part of govt employees.. the scientist of whom this country is proud off are also govt employees. govt must come out of its vendetta and help th e work force..otherwise county will collapse. u can not punish all for few rotten apples.

Morale in the army.

Exposed to extremes of envioronment, chest opened to terrorists bullets round the clock, the officialdom blind to the lack of basic civic amenities and an econoic insecurity plagueing the kith and kin at home the soldiers mind is waiting to explode and an invitation to disaster.Sooner the powers at the helm realise this, it is better for the nation whose defences lies squarely on the hands of these sentinels on the border. The civilian hardly knows that there is a systemic deficiency in the vintage army. Many an honest officer and soldier is cout-martialled for lesser crimes just to save the top brass from being exposed of their inefficient handling and mis- adventures.
