NASA poured cold water on claims by Hindu news services that the US agency's spaceborne cameras had discovered the remains of the mythical bridge built by Rama across the Palk Strait.
"Remote sensing images or photographs from orbit cannot provide direct information about the origin or age of a chain of islands, and certainly cannot determine whether humans were involved in producing any of the patterns seen," said NASA official Mark Hess.
NRI websites like Indolink.com and the Vaishnava News Network had run a story earlier this week saying that "space images taken by NASA" had revealed "a mysterious ancient bridge in the Palk Strait." The story gained currency when it was picked up, unquestioningly, by the PTI.
NASA said the mysterious bridge was nothing more than a 30 km long, naturally-occuring chain of sandbanks called Adam's bridge. Hess said his agency had been taking pictures of these shoals for years. Its images had never resulted in any scientific discovery in the area.
The Internet story further claimed "archaeological studies reveal that the first signs of human inhabitants in Sri Lanka date back to?about 1.75 million years ago" as does the age of the bridge. This, in turn, matched the age when the events of the Ramayana took place.
Historian B.D. Chattopadhyay of Jawaharlal Nehru University says the archaeological record says nothing of the sort. There is no evidence of a human presence in the subcontinent, he says, before roughly 250,000 to 30

There is no Ram Setu. It is only a sand bank. There are umpteen sand banks in Bay of Bengal. The Sethu Samudram project will help the Tamil Nadu a long way. It is going to benefit the nation immensely. To oppose the plan is anti-national. Very few in Tamil Nadu support the disruptive politics of BJP. If they continue this behavious even the 0.0000001 support they have will also disappear. They have seen it in just completed assembly bye election.

Renugacharya is a BJP MLC from Karnataka. Recently he made headlines for having illicit relationships. Because of these people only CPM is not in the government.. It is a principled stand that where the party cannot influence the policies of the government, it will not join the government. That is why CPM participates only in West Bengal, Kerala and Tripura. Though many opportunities came in the way, CPM did not participate in the governments. Is there any other party like that? And compare this and the BJP that occupied the power for 13 days even when they were very sure that they had no majority.

BJP has a reason to rejoice and see some good opportunity in Goa. They are findind it extremely difficult to find a replacement for Atalji and LK Advani as their next line of leaders do not have mass appeal or support base but are ready to fight among themselves and invariably stoop very low as mentioned by Uma Bharti on different occassions. Rajnath Singh as head of BJP has hardly done any work worth mentioning.
We want BJP to exist as we enjoy seeing circus sometimes.

There is nothing that the Left opposed Kalam because he is Muslim. Left is not going to support one as per his religion or region. It is the merit that matters. Hamid Ansari's proves that Left can only put up better choice. They have proved it again and again. Insurance privatisation, airport privatisation, EPF rate etc... etc... all these issues are opposed even now by the CPI(M). Any why r U shedding crocodile tears.. BJP also brought down the PF rate..
