It is the Americans -Bush in particular- who mooted nuke cooperation with India. In fact, a nuke deal with US was not even in the distant horizon in the mindspace of Indians. After 9/11 when America realized that only India was a dependable country in this region, they immediately started working on improving relations with us. While the earlier Clinton administration started the process, Bush, after becoming President suddenly proposed the 123 Agreement in his second term. While on the surface it appeared to be a great act of friendship, in reality it was an act of absolutely great cunning. That is bearig itself out now. Unfortunately, the weak, corrupt UPA headed by Manmohan Singh is highly susceptible to the guiles of the wily Americans. Americans know (quite proudly!!) how to corrupt foreign governments. With Indian general elections being just a year away, and with Congress in power, they know what is needed to be done. A $100-120 million into Congress kitty for generously funding its election war chest can easily sway this government to sign the deal. Unfortunately,a few thorns like Anil Kakodkar and like minded patriots are holding the fort from caving in.But the greedy Congress party will even try to use them in their set up game. But all the patriots are hoping that dirty tricks will not work anymore. The whole nation is dead serious this time. The wily Americans and the Congress party in cahouts will lose this time round.Manmohan or not,INDIA WILL NOT SIGN!!

I guess we need to send Flowers to our parliamentarians to make them realise their mistake and stop the deal being finalised. I just hope the deal is scrapped. It is nothing but another form of slavery agreement.

Yeah let us scrap the deal and U shall power the nation from your backyard..
Think man.. our R&D are going nowhere.. best examples are Arjun tank & Light Combat Aircraft..
You still want to live in darkness and powercuts..
True colors of the Americans is getting revealed at every turn. When our negotiators offered dedicated reprocessing facility with complete American supervision of reprocessing cycle with their spent fuel, the Americans fumbled! They never expected this. But yet they didn't accept it. They want all reprocessing facilities under surveillance! What does it mean? That they want to indulge in their most favorite past-time, espionage.
On going thru the entire 123 Agreement bill presented to the US Congress is starkly revealing. Every clause, right from beginning to the end, emphasises only on the issue of containing India's nuke development and bringing it under International (which means US) safeguards. There is not a single clause which outlines US's obligations towards India's civil nuke programme. In fact, the preamble talks only of how important it is for US to bring India, at all costs, under the ambit of the NPT even if it means that US has to offer something in return. There is just one sentence which talks of "offering US cooperation for generating energy from nuclear resources strictly under safeguards". However, the scope of such a "cooperation" has not even been briefly mentioned anywhere in the document let alone being elaborated upon!! The document back-thumps India for its clean non-proliferation record, in a big-brotherly manner. There is also a tinge of guilt in one clause, where it, in fact, acknowledges how India's safeguards mechanisms are far superior to ev
I just hope that this deal breaks off. It is just another way of ontrolling India, by the US. For few frills they are going to give us, they want us to surrender to their monitoring. We had enough of foreign control befor 1947. not any more.
