I appreciate you looking at the issue of fundamentalism and terrorism by extremists rationally and bringing this point up for a meaningful discussion. Before I comment on anything, I'm sure it is a fact that many of us from other faiths (be it hindu, christian or other befliefs) have great friends from muslim community. It is totally accurate that we cannot look to judge islam because of the extremists. The question that ponders many of my friends and me is a fact that NONE of your heads have come in open to talk against jihad and other nonsense like suicide bombing by the extremists. It is none of mine or any of other faith belivers' business to poke our nose into your mosque or beliefs or preachings, as long as it doesnt affect the life of others. unfortunately, you would agree, that it affects all of us, including innocent folks in your community. Given these, would you mind sharing with us what is taught in your mosque? How are your preachers and your imams mitigating the risk caused by these extremists and fundamentalists. Muslim stereotypes are perpetuated in every form of the media accompanied by gross misinformation about Islam and Muslims. In fact, such misinformation and false propaganda often leads to discrimination and acts of violence against Muslims.
The media highlights some blacksheeps in the islamic community and portray them as the representatives of the entire muslim community.
A person who commits a rape and happens to be a muslim is called as muslim rapist, whereas a non muslim rapist is just a rapist
A muslim marrying more than one woman is criticized where as a non muslim having more than one partner beside his wife is neglected.

Hi Rehan. I subscribe to your theory that the media has to be blamed for creating streotypes against Muslims.
To avoid this, why don't all the moderate Muslims (i know most of Indian muslims are moderates like any other Indians)organise yourself and raise against the few Muslims who are creating bad names for Islam (including Dawood Ibrahim). Are the moderate muslims scared of fundamentalists or can't you organise yourself for such a purpose?

Ananth, What would you do if somebody in your community does this ? Its the same here too, as you said some of the innocent folks in our community are getting killed as anybody in the rest of the world. I am a muslim and I still hate fundamentalism which inhibits humanity.

FROM STONE AGE WE HUMANS ARE DEVELOPING . CENTURIES AFTER CENTURIES WE ARE FINDING NEW THINGS BOOKS WHICH OUR PARENST READ IN SCHOOLS ARE NO MORE , MORE ADVANCE AND BETTERD BOOKS ARE THEIR . If you want to judge how good is the latest model of the Mercedes car and a person who does not know how to drive sits at the steering wheel and bangs up the car who will you blame? The car or the driver? But naturally the driver. To analyze how good the car is a person should not look at the driver but see the ability and features of the car. How fast is it what is its average fuel consumption, what are the safety measures etc. Even if I agree for the sake of argument that the Muslims are bad and we cant judge Islam by its followers. If you want to judge how good Islam is then judge it according to its authentic sources that is the Glorious Quran and the Sahih Hadith.

Don't judge the credentials of a religion by numbers. If this is the yardstic,then most of the criminals and the terrorists are muslim. It is not Islam which is spreading, but it is Islam which is spreading terrorism. My muslim brothers please wake up & make reforms or else the entire world will look upon Islam as a failed religion. General Musharraf seems to have realised it too late.

Brother, let me make it clear to you that Quran does not teach us violence. It is the biggest misconception among the people around the world.
I can justify this with the verse of Quran Itself.
Holy Quran says that If someone kills another person ,unless it is in retaliation for someone else or for causing corruption in the earth , it is as if he had murdered all mankind. And if anyone saves another person, it is as if he had saved the whole of mankind. (Surat al-Ma'ida: 32)

first ever compiled complete quran is present in turkey.it belongs to hazrat usman gani(R.A), the third caliph of islam. as fara s hadees is concerned, there are many books which date back to the time of companions of prophet muhammad(PBUH). i think u need to read books first, gather knowledge and then speak. ingorance is the root of all evil and due to yur ignorance u have fallen into the same.

Only 50 years ago muslims children in maharashtra used to study in Marathi which helped them to be part of the mainstream. Today they go Urdu schools, attend Madrssas get Arabic culture infused in their mind which alienate them from Indian culture. If Sri Lankan & Indian christians keep Indian names why can't Indian muslims keep Indian names. Being Indians, how many Indian muslims consider Vedas & hudreds of outstanding Sanskrit scriptures as their own treasure. But they cannot see anything beyond Koran which was created on forign land while Sanskrit scripture were created on our soil. Muslims must learn to respect their own Indian treasure and culture.

Dear hindus by just telling bad about pakistan or muslims is an act of disgrace to our own culture, and by doing this we are being divided as british wanted and they succeed so that we keep fighting ourself and never even think of growing. forget about pakistan or afganisthan or any other thing , let us utelise our time for our welfare , our countries welfare and the total humanity as a whole will benifit.
All these things are powered by politics.
Dont you know lakhs of hindus are peacefull in Muslim countries like UAE (Dubai), QATAR, BAHRAIN , KUWAIT etc....

If Islam preaches good and only peice, why today muslims are leding in terrorism and killings in all corners of the world. Please get educated in the modern way and live and let live others. Muslim parents, please educate ur kids and teach them good morals as the family is the fundamental unit of a society. Educated muslim youth, please do not get agitated if fundamentalists influence to do so. If the present trend of muslim hatredness continues one day Muslims will really face the ire of several other communities in addition to west. I know my word will not reach but I will be happy even if one person relizes the mistake.

Islam is the real "Way of life". WHatever the world says Insha allah Islam will hail one day. It may be that we muslims have really forgotten our real islam and we are following something which is far away from islam. And as far as Islam is concerned, the reality is "EVEN THOUG THE WORLD IS CARRYING OUT SO MUCH PROPOGANDA AGAINST ISLAM , THERE ARE MILLIONS OF PEOPLE WHO ARE ACCEPTING ISLAM". And as far as u are talking about the muslims "to come out of their mindsets", The muslims are just doing what Pandavas did in Mahabharata and Rama did in Ramayana. I hope you understand what i wanna say.
Muslims are just victims of a world class propoganda where the world is a stage and the FIht is between REAL MUSLIMS AND "REST OF THE WORLD". Even your words smell of the same thughts. Had u analysed the sequences what has happened in the world(which is otherwise so intelligent) Like Iraq being attacked without any reason, Afghanistan being attacked. So it is these things which has been sowed by the world and thus the world is reaping the same.

islam might have been way of life for bedioun arabs 1400 years back but nowadays it does not suite in our modern lives.regarding propaganda against islam, just open any paper and find out what is happening in muslim world.muslims kill more muslim than get killed by non muslims.did pandavas and rama got involved in terroist activites or did they attacked civilians.? iraq was attacked because saddam was ruling by force 80% people, against their wishes.how many shia and kurds were killed during saddam's time.how many rulers used chemical against their own citizen.if look at afghantan also majority of afghanis were ahainst taliban rule.US have given these two countries freedom from tyrants.this is the oppotunity for these country to come out of poverty,develope their countries and earn respect

Before India achieved independence from British rule, some freedom fighters of India who did not subscribe to non-violence were labeled as terrorists by the British government. One is calling him a terrorist while the other is calling him a patriot. Those who believed that Britain had a right to rule over India called these people terrorists, while those who were of the view that Britain had no right to rule India called them patriots and freedom fighters.
It is therefore important that before a person is judged, he is given a fair hearing. Both sides of the argument should be heard, the situation should be analyzed, and the reason and the intention of the person should be taken into account, and then the person can be judged accordingly.
