Is there any possibility of Arrest Warrant for Banerjee? For creating communal violence & political disturbance by telling false accusations & for cheap political future. Yes, I feel, that is what she is conducting, I think. Think the state CM is telling that, the factory will reduce poverty & improve the area, state, country. Even majority of people know that it is true that the factory will bring lot of wealth.
I am amazed to see fellow Indians who are supporting Mamta Banejee's cause. If WB is so deeply wounded by Tata's so called 'land grabbing' effort , why in the first place locate the factory there? You may want to take some lessons from South Indian states like TN and AP - a new India is emerging there - a government that supports industrailization with the larger goal of raising millions out of poverty. Tata has just begun the conquest of the world by buying Corus, we want you to lead our new young and resurgent India forward. The youth of this country is ready to start a new revolution that will forever wipe out the dirty politicians who have for decades hampered the growth of such a great nation. And for those educated people who do not seem to understand what Mamtha Banerjee's true intentions are, I have only sympathies to offer.
- A group of Indians in their late 20s scattered al over the world.

come on those of you who are 'educated' and write in English and own a computer to send comments are less than 5%. So what is the fun of being 'right behind' Tatas now? 70%of India depends on the land. They also would like to be'right behind' Tatas if that is possible.
So we need patience.
TATAs are one of the biggest beneficiaries of Independant India.
Just ask for the 'lease rate' they pay to Indian government of TAJ HOTEL in Mumbai.
So take heart my dear 'educated'. India is not only you and me, who write in these coloumns.
India is the sons and daughters of poor men who never enter any portals of learning.
Can someone stand 'right behind them'. There are around 320 million ( as per world bank data)

Mr. JS I don't care whether TATA benefit or not. I benefited from TATA, TATA, TATA. If you ask the question, there will be more Indians in the queue to tell that. Don't see something from Internet & sitting in some corner of the world & comment. By the way, WB is not Warner Brothers. It is West Bengal.
For all such kind of mass acquisitions, why doesnt the government and public make the facts transparent to the public on some website. Instead of people going to offices and asking the information as part of RTI, these facts should be made available to public. At least, the politics and industry will have some shame in blatantly misusing the system to their advantage if the people know more facts. I know people at helm of affairs can always change or misrepresent facts, but they will have some shame to it. In US, corporate social responsibility is a big aspect of corporate culture. In India, industries follow more like corporate politics responsibility. I am not in support of Mamata either. She is just enjoying being in news and doesnt care if people in Singur later live or die.
First of all- do not acquire fertile farm lands for industry. Second- if necessary instead of buying lands from farmers make them partner. Form a co-operative type structure just like Magarpatta in Pune.
Preserve fertile lands we will be short of it after 20 years. Industrial areas must be made on barren lands.

bengal has 1% fallow land. So its a choice between very fertile and fertile lands. Calcutta's soil is also fertile...and so there shouldn't be any industry...is that what you are trying to say? Realize the facts first!
Its high time people of India should realize that its the dirty politicians who are spoiling growth of India. People are poor and not educated, they just dance according to the political beats. Get educated and help yourself.

surely why mamta is against we have to think. but tata is the sole benefitor. no company even toyota in america who produces near 1 million cars in a year in america operates less than 200 acres of land. why tata need 900 acres. rattan tata says he needs whole 900 acres. but he should return those doesn't want to give up thier land.900 acres is suspicious and shows those who has money in india can do anything as justice system, judges and govt and politicians , journalists, activists are the most corrupted in india. they also need some how big money.
If commies do not want TATA i am sure there are plenty of states that would love their economies helped by TATAS investments. May be they should move south to near paradip port in state of Orissa, with direct access to shipping.
please do not shout like this. this illogical. Bengal has so many ways to develop,Miss Banerjee, plesase do that. Stop this matter. If you squeeze Lemon more, the bitter it becomes.
We do not have a NOrth South Corridor, patients can not reach hospital, farmers, traders can not bring their products to market to sell. One vehicle lasts abysmally short year beacuse of poor road.Have you seen ROADS in Murshidabad,Maldah? Plase pay concern to development. Do not block it----REMEMBER, YOU ARE AN MP FOR THE PEOPLE,NOT gate keeper .So, please open the door, and do not close it.

absolutly right! you see what happened is that when this controversy started initiating ,Mamta saw an opportunity here. Her clever (typical politican's) mind realized that if she can throw tantrums and do some silly hunger strike for some days, she ll become a martyr; which she has in front of the poor farmers. What she has gained , is a hugeeee vote bank. I wonder when will these idiots stop fighting among themselves for their vested interests and think for a common cause. Go tata go!
Tatas should have avoided this controversy by buying the land in the normal ordinary way that everyone else does. By resorting to expropriation they have needlessly created a political flare-up in a state known for populist political grandstanding. They should learn a lesson from this for the next time. Next time, buy the land at market price, in the normal way. Forget about expropriation, just for a factory. Expropriation is for building highways, dams, or other publically-owned infrastructure for the common public benefit and development. It shouldn't be used for some private commercial house as a shortcut.

They brought the land 125% of the market price. If the Govt do not intervene its difficult for any organization to acquire 997 acres.
RE:RE:Tatas Should Buy At Market Price
by rajesh bhaskar on Feb 12, 2007 01:51 AM Permalink
WHY DO THEY need 997 acres is most suspicious things. toyota is biggest car manufacturer int he world. they produce 1 million cars a year in just less than 200 acres in america whihc 5 times bigger in space than india. tata is produce 100000 cars only , only 1/10 of toyota in america. can they sell more than 100000 car in a year. they just actually need 30-100 acres at the most. 997 acrs is clearning cheating and nexus with politicians who buy back this when tata grows . there is no plant in world which speard over 30 acres in one shot. in india justice is same to all as per constitution in paper but if i don't want to give my land why force and govt support to tata. without those don't want to give also they can achieve thier aim of even a million car in 200 acres. unfortunately justice system, govt ,politicians, judges, law enforcement officers, from top to bottom is corrupted. this is another example rich is dignified, see sanjay dutt goes in bail each time, see afsal still pending.

Tata is building industry in Bengal it is good for Esatern India. West Bengal Government supporting them. But destroing farming land may be degerous for bengal future. Tata should get as required land and administrative and infrastructure support. But before accuring farming land government should recover all closed factory land for future industry purpose and it is requred immediate action. There are lots of closed factory land at heart of bengal. With out plan accuring farming land may hurt bengal future. Same may be applied for whole India. There are lots of land which is unutilise and same may be utilise for Industrial growth. Unplanned destruction of farming land may cause ruind India's future economy and food supply chain which is basic requrement for people. So Industrialisation is welcome for building nations economy not detruction of future economy. I think government should immidiate take expertise help for settlement this issue.
