Singur in the Doldrums.
by sudhin roychowdhury on Feb 11, 2007 01:37 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I live outside India but am from Bengal.During the last 25 years what Bengal achieved in Land Reforms no other State of India could achieve. What the present Chief Minister Mr. Bhuddhadeb Bhattacharya is trying to do is something which Bengal had witnessed during the time of our legendary Chief Minister Dr.B.C.Roy. Bhuddababu is a die hard honest politician and in all fairness we shoukd give him a chance and not scuttle his dream BENGAL project.A little change in our ATTITUDE towards a better Bengal will definitely raise the ALTITUDE of Bengal and the Bengalis in particular.Bengalis have suffered a lot right from the days of British rule, to the horrible Partition of BENGAL and even now in post independent India.I think let us all give the present Chief Minister a chance. He has a lot of problems in hand even from his own party and the CITU also. But he is one brave man who is trying to lead from the front.

Mr Sudhin.
Budhdha Bhattacharya is trying to do nothing but "Secret Trade" with the industriaolists. He imposed 144 illigaly in Singur earlier and High court stronglu objected to that.He is responsible for mass kiling at Nandigram but has done nothing to punish the responsibilities.Even the 10 CPM caders whom the CBI arrested have been given bail.
U do not stay in bengal and is informed only through media what is happening in the state.Just come down and see what is the position of Nandigram.Police ruthlessly fired at chests of innocent villagers.Who gave them the permission to fire?(No answer till now).

I would request you to be a bit more updated about the states actual position before commenting on our HONEST CM.

You are absolutely right Mr.Sudhin. We should give our CM a chance and support him. We should not behave like the famous Bengal Crab story.

A long time has passed by when you posted your comments. In between the mass kiling at Nandigram has happened.Lately when Budhdha babu said "No land will be taken at Nandigram" then Mr Balai Roy(AG) inside the highcourt gave a comment that "There is no need to give importance what the CM says."Can you imagine what an insult this was?Still our HONEST CM is silent. He cannot say anyhting and has lost all authority.Actually he has recahed the maximum level of frustration and has gone down to personal level attacks inside Bidhan Sabha.

Mamata doesn't need to learn any lesson Mr Subramaniyam. What she needs to learn is that do not any more get into any peace talk. When this arrogant CM said "We are 235 and the oposition is just 30..lets see who can stop us"..then no one showed any anger or wanted to have peace.235 have done what they could have.30 have taken the challenge and now its their turn.Just sit back and relax.age age dekhiye hota hai keya.

Mamata said, "People who assaulted the journalists were outsiders." This is insane to disown responsibility. If BJP says same thing about demolition of disputed Babari structure then secular Jihadi's will tear BJP apart but this time they will remain silent.

are yaar...this "Outsider" theory has been used by the CPM so many times.Even Biman Bose said "Outsider" about Medha Patekar and lied about her.(Later he had to say sorry on a TV channel openly). So why are getting angry now hearing this "Outsdier" theory? After all,its the CPM who has taught this theory to the oposition.

SEZ: Amartya Sen's comment

Amartya Sen to study on SEZ effects

Amartya Sen

Mumbai: Nobel laureate Amartya Sen on Thursday advocated a study on the impact of special economic zones (SEZs) on people, particularly based on good and bad experiences in emerging economies like China. "Does it serve the interest of developing opportunities for a lot of people without harming the interest of others or does it produce a cocoon where some people prosper and look down on others in the world, which requires thinking?" Sen told reporters on the sidelines of a Nasscom meet in Mumbai. "Though I have not studied it (SEZs), I am appalled to see how little has been studied," he said. Of the 23 SEZs approved by the government in the past year, 18 are IT-related. However, the industry has unanimously demanded an extension of the Software Technology Parks (STP) scheme, which provides multiple benefits to start-ups and small IT firms.
Sen said the question of SEZs calls for answers from technical experts in the light of their effects on economies like China. "Is the huge increase in inequality in China connected with SEZs? The fact is it happened at the same time. And if it happened in China, than can it be prevented in India?" he wondered. "If it can't be prevented then is it the right thing to do despite the fact that it contributes to economic growth?" he questioned. (PTI)

I think Tata should shift his project to Gujarat.See..the exmaple of Narendra Modi.He is doing excellent Job in Gujarat. Mamtabenerji is really sick...she doesnt know the opportunity she got from Tata.

I really dont understand the people of Bengal..why they support such stupid politician. I know many bengalies and they are very intellegent people but still I am failed to understand why they cant change their politician thinking.

There is is no one in Bengal who can stand against Mamta?..I think All Bengali people who are out of state should immediately think about that and or even take the help of court to expose Mamta. They should try to save this project insteading standing still and laughing what was happening now....

"Jago Bengali.....It's your time to make your state good so you can also take more proud. Because Utimately these all lead to us our India developement"

First INDIAN
THEN Gujarati

Dear Gujrati
Its really amazing how much importance you people give Mamat. Its really strange.Once our arragant and lier CM said"They are just 30 and we are 235...who would stop us".Where were your voices then?He didn't mention that 50% of vioters have not voted fror them. When this 50% voters are oposiing them, then why Mamat only is accused? In this movement,BJP,Congress,SUCI..every one are involved.Does Mamata has so much power that she needs to be discussed all alone in Bengal politics? She should be happy about this. Its a compliment for her.

You also spoke about development. What development?Do you need to say so many lies for development?Do you need to do "Trade secret or Secret Trade" to do development? How cany you take away the right of informations from the public? This development is not for the public but for only a few ministers who can lie left and right and can do secret trade to get their own pockets heavy.

its not like ki people support or disapprove mamta over singure. those who stays outside dnt know any thing what happen in bengal and its political movement there. u have never faced the warth of red brigade. and for shifting the project to gujrat why i fail to understand. there is solution to every problem. So there should be some solution to singure also. And i think the condition and development in Gujrat is worst then ever in the history of that state only. So i hope giving example of NM (narendra modi) is absolute rubbish. every body in the world knows what job he is doing there.

Mr.Nadeem

Sorry if I hurt you but i am not interested to shift this project to Gujarat in anyway because Gujarat has enough projects and I also belive that Bengal should get a chance.

My Point is why any opposition party or layman person trying to take help of court or going against the mamta ill will.WE should really appreciate Tata for his patience otherwise no body will wait and immediately shift the project to other state.

About Narendra Modi - I would say you dont know the real picture of Gujarat.I am still telling you he has done a vey good job than earlier CMs.Today after that Riots, there is no problem in Gujarat and Many industrialist have invested in Guajarat.Even now muslims also realising that NM is not bad if they live in rule and regulation.

Anyway..My ponit is to save this project. If you can do something for this project to retain in Bengal, I would be the first person to be happy

Jai Hind

You are right Mr. Gujarati. Petty bongs need to learn some lesson. Probably they would be better off living in perpetual poverty. Tatas should move elsewhere where they are welcome.

The innocnet village boys who have given their land and took courses under ITI are your petty bongs. These petty bongs have not been promised for any job in the Tata factory.I aggre with you that the Tatas should move to somewhere where they will be forced to keep their promises.BUt they won't move because no where they would get the scope to do "Secret Trade" with the Govt.

change ur mindset
by brahmjot kohli on Feb 10, 2007 09:25 PM  Permalink

The main cause for any kind of fight is basically opposing other's ideas. If this kinda fighting continues, believe me no one can come to a just solution. If you go for industrialization, the farmers and their supporters cry foul.If you go for agricultural developments, then industries feels disparaged.

What we, not only in bengal but the whole of india need is a fixed balance between both of these.Agriculture is important as it secures food sufficiecy, but industrialization is also equally important because real economic growth and development cannot be realized without it.
What we need is education, i.e. to tell people that both are important and none should be sacrificed.
What we don't need is such kinda blaming which has happened in the above posts. This blaming thing only makes us fight and believe me no one is gonna have a common solution unless this stops because no one will ever want his or her ego to get hurt.
So, until and unless we change ourselves and respect others ideas, till then this kinda fighting over land or for that matter any kinda thing will never stop.
