People who support karnataka, should realise that cauvery is covering more demographic area of TN (i.e.) more TN people are depending over it. So think over this point before you write here

The whole cauvery should be handed over to TN including the dams built inside karnataka. Cauvery is covering more demographic area of TN than other states.

Cauvery should be owned by TN and patriotic peoples of South india will do that and isolate Karnataka.

Unfair Justice

This is completely a bias decision. Meanwhile, there is nothing to do with public property or the Tamilians. Let's play safe law game for the right justice, not by harming the "yennadas"...

height of insanity
by mahadeva prakash on Feb 05, 2007 03:39 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Just because tamilnadu was under british presidency in 19th century and they governed large parts of south india, they could bulldoze the mysore maharaja to do their bidding. and moreover since mysore region lacked the funds, they could not build any dams like what british government did in building mettur dam.probably if Sir Visveswaraiah had not built KRS, we would not have been eligible to draw even one tmc for our needs. Just because of mettur dam, tamil provinces increased their cultivation area and not their right because they dont get so much of rains in their area. Now that we have increased our cultivated area to take care of our food needs, tamil nadu cannot use an 150 year old story to demand excess share. Instead of wasting water and cultivating wetland cultivation of rice and shouting that they dont have sufficient water, let the tamilnadu government teach its farmers to use water in more efficient way like sprinklers, drip irrigation etc which is found to be scientifically tested method and requires only 50% of the water required. If they do so, they will have excess water .

I agree with u. How can we now wage war on a rule that was set up way nack on 1892. I dont understand why Tamilnadu is playing this dirtly game. This case is equal to another issue "Mullaperiyar" between Kerala and Tamilnadu. The river (Periyar) originates from Kerala, flows only thru Kerala and the DAM is also in Kerala. Still Tamilnadu wants FULL water, only bcoz of one alarming agreement for 999 years in 1890s. Since British was in power, the powerful Madars Presidency did this.
Now Kerala and Karnataka have to stand united for Mullaperiyar and Cauvery issues and fight against the OLD law.

Even if we die also, UPA Govt will not react because we are having Janatadal- BJP led Govt. Sonia Gandhi and her Party wanted this opportunity and they used it in a right time. I appeal all Kannadigas not to allow Sonia Gandhi or any Central Ministers into State. Let them go to TN and do what ever they want. They dont have the right to enter this soil .

Fools!!! Understand the Judgement.
by Deva Pratap Saathivayal on Feb 05, 2007 03:36 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

- Cauvery's total rain water catchment is 740 TMC. This includes areas in TN & Karnataka.
- TN to get 419 TMC.
- Karnataka to get 270 TMC.
- of 419 TMC TN will get 192 TMC from Karnataka, and the rest (227 TMC) from its own rain catchment areas.
- This 192 TMC (that TN to get for KA) will be measured from TN border and it is not very high from what is getting, which means Karnataka is not going to loose something much.

Could not understand why people are twisting this judgement as People in Karnataka is going to die of thirst.

People are mean that they don't understand the panel's decision bu simply accuse them of pro-tamil nadu. Shame on you uncivilized literates!!!

The language used by you proves first of all you are not civilized. You are just like some barbaric uncivilized brutes, who shaved the heads of some karnataka ladies who travelled in TN and spoke ion Kannada some years ago...Its very clear the judgement is biased because of UPA.......undertand this clearly TN political parties play a prominent role here. They can uproot the govt.. if verdict is not in favor of TN.......you better understand this first.

Mr. SHIVA SP. When I said "Fools" which is the only thing harsh on what I said, it was generic. That means I meant Fools to two set of people. 1. Those that are thinking KA will have to donate TN with 419 TMC 2. Those that think TN will get 419 TMC (from TN's perspective). Now it should be clear to you that I did not target any community. Anyway using a word Fool in a public forum like this isn't very bad but though bad and hence I apologized.

Again, I won't agree with you that the verdict is biased. Reasons:
- Congress the major party in the Central coaliation has its stakes high in KA than in TN. In TN it's almost a dead snake.
- DMK can't give so much pressure on this, coz UPA is not so weak currently that exit of DMK will cause no harm to UPA.
- They have done extensive study before they let their report out. They are not like you are me to discuss in something in a just way.

To answer you sir... I need to explain lot. In short you think with in yourself, why are we sharing Indus waters with Pakistan and BrahmaPutra waters with Bangladesh.

Any river will have huge catchment area in upstream and lower catchment area in down stream. You can not split a river with political boundary and argue what you are saying is "just".

Cauvery tribunal gives TN 419 tmcft, 270 to Karnataka
by rajendraprasad on Feb 05, 2007 03:36 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The sc has given its judgement. If there is scanty rainfal what should the karnataka do, to give 419 tmcft. With the rapid growth of bangalore and mysore there is heavy demand for drinking water. Already bagamandala, the birth place of Cauvery is facing shortage of drinking water. First preference should be given to drinking water.

by Deva Pratap Saathivayal on Feb 05, 2007 03:41 PM  Permalink
Mr. rajendraprasad... if there is a scanty rainfall, the jury has said that all states should bear the brunt. That means all state which get lower share, i.e. all will be equally affected.

Info on how water sharing is to be done:

- Cauvery's total rain water catchment is 740 TMC. This includes areas in TN & Karnataka.

- TN to get 419 TMC.

- Karnataka to get 270 TMC.

- of 419 TMC TN will get 192 TMC from Karnataka, and the rest (227 TMC) from its own rain catchment areas.
