please talk to christians who are not in cities. you did not understand what i wrote. caste difference do not go with change in religion. my christian friend in tamilnadu is a nadar by caste he fell in love with a girl of another caste but is a christian from fisherman's caste in kanyakumari. he parents did not allow him to get married because they said they belong to a inferior caste even though she is a christian. this is a true story and as per him and by all christians in south caste is followed by christians. in kerala fisherman caste christians are considered low by other christians and belong to latin catholic. so better educate yourself about caste. caste was a creation of people in india during ancient times to enjoy better previledge by one profession over another who belong to another profession with the support of the kings. buddhist who are in india and other countries like thailand has caste like brahims, this is told to me by my colleauge who is an englishman who married a thailand buddist girl who he says is brahim and is considered superior. so better educate yourself by talking to more people and not just to communists.

being a christian does not mean other christians will marry them. there is caste among christians also. Nadar christians dosent marry outside nadar caste in tamil nadu. Kerala christians converted by st.thomas does not marry other christians from other church. christians marry only if theyare from the same church and don't even consider other church fellows it may lead to bloodshed if they do so. Pentacostal christians dosen't marry other christians and consider all other christians as wrong. same is with other religions also. in america and europe white christians dosent marry black christians (officially) unless he dosent believe in church. so the list goes on. caste has nothing to do with hindu re

Wagon Tragedy
by Sameer on Dec 30, 2007 04:27 PM  Permalink

The Wagon tragedy was the death of a large number of prisoners on 10 November 1921 in the Malabar region of Kerala state of India. The prisoners had been taken into custody following unrest in Malabar, and their deaths through apparent negligence discredited the British Raj and generated sympathy for the Indian independence movement.

Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi and the national leaders of India, there was a wide-spread and peaceful uprising against the British colonial rule of India. After a series of events that culminated in violent clashes between police and protesters, Martial law was introduced and the rebellion mostly crushed. The British packed 70 prisoners into a railway goods wagon at Tirur railway station to be sent to the Coimbatore jails. By the time they reached their destination 61 of the prisoners had died from suffocation. A monument to of this notorious tragedy can be now seen at Tirur.

World is amazing - thanks to the creator
by Sameer on Dec 30, 2007 04:07 PM  Permalink

We are blessed because we can think, we can see, we can feel, we can talk, we can hear, we can smell. Its amazing we have everything we need, mechanisms to remove toxins from body, organs to take oxygen, haemoglobin to carry it, lungs to deliver oxygen to blood, hormones that control ageing n other processes. see all our organs are wonderful n have a purpose. Then we have water, sun, soil, flowers, fruits, air n how wonderful it is...

For a moment, look at yourself, u r blessed, how hard it will be without eyes or ears or hands...juz imagine...how hard to see the world once n then to lose eyes...how hard for a person who walked once in life but forced to crawl later...

we are young now, juz imagine a day after few years, when u cant remember many things, when ur vision is not clear, u cant hear properly...all those days will come...for everyone...if u think about it for a second, imagine you getting old...u will never hate anyone....

Jallianwala Bagh
by Sameer on Dec 30, 2007 04:03 PM | Hide replies

The Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, also known as the Amritsar Massacre, was named after the Jallianwala Bagh (Garden) in the northern Indian city of Amritsar, where, on April 13, 1919, British Indian Army soldiers under the command of Brigadier Reginald Dyer opened fire on an unarmed gathering of men, women and children. The firing lasted about 10 minutes and 1650 rounds were fired, or 33 rounds per soldier. Official (Raj) sources placed the casualties at 379. According to private sources, the number was over 1000, with more than 2000 wounded,[1] and Civil Surgeon Dr. Smith indicated that they were over 1800.[2]
A group of 90 Indian Army soldiers marched to the park accompanied by two armoured cars. The vehicles were unable to enter the Bagh through the narrow entrance.

The Jallianwala Bagh, or garden, was bounded on all sides by houses and buildings and had few narrow entrances, most of which were kept permanently locked. Since there was only one open exit except for the one already blocked by the troops, people desperately tried to climb the walls of the park. Many jumped into a well inside the compound to escape from the bullets. A plaque in the monument says that 120 bodies were plucked out of the well.

As a result of the firing, hundreds of people were killed and thousands were injured. Official records put the figures at 379 killed (337 men, 41 boys and a six week old baby) and 200 injured, tho

People by and large are good in India. Religious tolerance is the crux of Indian culture. Adjusting to changes and getting ahead with time is what makes India the great.

"There is enough for every one" is the spirit. Live and let live is the motto.

My friend, for a minute forget what religion you come from. You are a human being and you ought to be treated like one irrespective of cast creed and gender.

We often miss the very evident things and start complaining about smaller things. The assumed minority population in India is almost the entire population of US and still ask for seperate favours. Why can't all the people be treated like one and have a single law applicable as the children of one greater God and one country?

Friend,
Wish you all "really" believe that, nothwithstanding the mass and media hysteria to the contrary. Also note, whenever any aberration has occured, Congress has had a major hand in fomenting the trouble. So beware of the glib talkers!
