I know you very well. You changed 5 universities and got into conflicts in all places. This is not surprising to me.

I feel for you man. You have gone through a lot. Let this be an exercise to all new students to not blindly go by the websites and propectus of the Universities and goto grad schools that way. Apply to the very best schools (In the Top 50 or so), make sure these schools treat their international stduents well enough by talking to the existing students and only the make the trip across. Joining a grad school in the US is not guaranteed to be a great experience and as you described it can be hell in some univs. If you dont get admitted to the very good schools dont plan to goto US at all. I know a sizeable number of students who have gone to the top 50 schools and have had little or no issues. My experience at Stony brook university was more than exceptional as was other students during my stay. So its not bad in every school... Good luckw ith your situation Sesha, and try to get a transfer to a better and more hospitable school.

Just ignore him.

He is a CIA / FBI agent on line to promote image of US and to denigrate Indians.

Need of The Hour
by Jehan Mir on Dec 25, 2007 03:08 AM  Permalink

The families should inquire. Most of the States in US pay victims of crime up to
$ 50,000. for injuries suffered as a result of crime ,plus $5,000 for burial expenses. Though this amount cannot possibly replace the two precious human lives lost,it may lessen unforeseen financial hardships caused to the family members.

My heartfelt condolensces to all affected by this tragedy.

Shame on us!!!
by abarna banerjee on Dec 24, 2007 10:02 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Shame on us!! We Indian are devoid of any self-respect so to ay. It is pity to notice that our government has done NOTHING supporting the victims family either morally (sorry - our govt does not have that) or financially. Nether they have pressurized the US govt to find the culprit/s.
Just picture - if it was other way round- Our government would have crawled to US government apologizing for the mishap & by now score of culprits would have been rounded up.
You know what you have to know the value of scholars in order to feel the loss. Our government filled with half cooked. Ignorant. Illiterate person- How would they feel the loss!!
Unfortunate Indians have to endure to be governed by ignorant.

Incase you have forgotten, the state in question has a governor of Indian origin - the so called Indian well wisher - Bobby Jindal. What has he done ?

Get your facts right, Mr. Oberoi. Jindal is the governer-ELECT. He doesn't take office until January, and he cannot possibly order around already. And who said he's particular an "Indian Well-Wisher?" Just because he's of Indian Origin? He's looking after the STATE first, that's his job. Foreign policy is not his job right now. When he gets to the office, THEN you can comment on whether or not he has done something about this.
