by Jay on Dec 25, 2007 08:25 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Bhubaneswar, Dec. 24: Tension prevailed at Daringibadi region in Phulbani district following an alleged attack on a noted Hindu seer by a minority group.

The seer %u2014 Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati %u2014 was on his way to Brahmnigaon village to see some youths who were injured after being attacked by some members of a minority group.

The minority community youths intercepted the seer%u2019s vehicle, dragged him out and attacked him with sharp weapons.

Although the police is yet to cite reasons for the tussle between the two communities, sources say one group was opposed to the construction of a religious gate by the other group.

Phulbani collector Bhabagrahi Mohapatra and superintendent of police Narasingha Bhol have rushed to the spot. (source-ASIANAGE)

Modi & Hindutva
by on Dec 25, 2007 08:03 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I am not a Gujarati, but I admire Modi for his courage in tackling problems like terrorism without a compromise on national security. The so called secularists are palying into the hands of anti-Indian elements by appeasement and vote bank politics. They should know that Hindu backlash has started and they have to run for cover in the next parliamenr elections.

RE:Why Modi appeals to Hindus??

Even Henry Ford was admirer of Hitler and so was Subhash Ch Bose. Similarly many leading thinkers, writers and poets in Britain were admirers of Stalin. The situation regarding Hitlar changed only when Jewish genocide was discovered in 1945. Even then Allies were not aware of the extant of the deaths. Ditto with Stalin.

How long jokers like you with shallow knowledge keep hurling these charges on RSS. Congress jokers keep repeating this ad nauseum.

It is time RSS is respected for Shistachar and Bharatiya Sanskrit values. Society's civic stability depends upon it.

No less a person than our former Prime Minister has dwelled on Hinduvta. He has equated it with Bharatiyata. Others have also seen Hindutva as essence of Hinduism. Yes, the word was originally coined to mean a political ideology. For RSS it is a purely cultural term.

Give us our due, we are also worthy Man! If you see a demon in people like us, demon is exactly you will get!

Modi,s Charisma

A beautiful analysis.Modi is an ICON for Hindus world over. The likes of NDTV (Baarkha Dutt) and Aaj Tak are destroying the identity of Indians.

B Raman on Modi
by Kadayam Subramanian on Dec 25, 2007 07:30 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The poet Bharati only called upon the Tamils, which is an ethnic concept, not Hindus, which is a religious concept, to stand up. The two things are quite different! To compare Bharati, a sublime poet like Tagore to Modi, a justifier of mass murder and encounter killings, is nothing short of scandalous! Does Raman want religious wars to break out all over the world? George Bush, a religious fundamentalist, has caused mass killings. KS Subramanian.

It is tragic that idelogues like B Raman are falling for the Hindutva trap. If you remember, he had written lucidly on islamic terrorism and indian muslims in the past. He had also drawn a conclusion that the opposition party (BJP) must not do anything that alienates the minority (read Muslim) community, as it will only strengthen this feeling. Modi's victory is doing exactly that.
However, all the Centrist parties (Congress mostly)is to be balmed for the misgovernance and drift towards a type of Hindu resergence (or whatever you call). The Congress has forgotten Nehru's message of keeping religion and caste out of politics and it is now paying the price.
There is a feeling of alienation in Hindus today which is now being exploited by Modi and his ilk. Let us see, where does this take this country to. Ultimately, people must remember that for India to progress, all indians irrespective of caste, religion or region must rise above narrow considerations.
I dont expect the BJP to do this, the congress has become a tired party clinging to the aprons of a dynasty that is fast losing its shhen, while the commnunists are a farce!
We have to look forward to an alternative.
