RE:B Raman on Modi
by skandan sivaramakrishnan on Dec 25, 2007 10:59 AM

It is tragic that idelogues like B Raman are falling for the Hindutva trap. If you remember, he had written lucidly on islamic terrorism and indian muslims in the past. He had also drawn a conclusion that the opposition party (BJP) must not do anything that alienates the minority (read Muslim) community, as it will only strengthen this feeling. Modi's victory is doing exactly that.
However, all the Centrist parties (Congress mostly)is to be balmed for the misgovernance and drift towards a type of Hindu resergence (or whatever you call). The Congress has forgotten Nehru's message of keeping religion and caste out of politics and it is now paying the price.
There is a feeling of alienation in Hindus today which is now being exploited by Modi and his ilk. Let us see, where does this take this country to. Ultimately, people must remember that for India to progress, all indians irrespective of caste, religion or region must rise above narrow considerations.
I dont expect the BJP to do this, the congress has become a tired party clinging to the aprons of a dynasty that is fast losing its shhen, while the commnunists are a farce!
We have to look forward to an alternative.
