I am no fan of Nehru dynasty. I agree they have failed India in past. But you are exaggerating about their threat to democracy in India. There are worse politicians than Nehru dynasty in India who are capable of ruining India.
Here some peoples are uniting and making their BASTI. Here they will not allow other religiouse people to live peacefully. Even they will not pay their electricity bills, Drainage and water charges but something will happen they will blame on Administration. Usually they will not allow police to catch any of their bootlegar brother. They will throw stone on police and in the riots time if police scared to go in their area, something wrong happen during this time they will blame on Government that it is behind this incidence.
Our Chief of Army staff is the most non competant person. Then onlt the defence ministry appoint him as Chief of Army staff. They do not have guts to take power from these corrupt politicians unlike pakistan.
Our generals , Admirals and Air marshalls are all lust like worms in front of a an illiterate anguta Chap defence minsters. Thats why we are not developing and will never develop if we go this way. Army should take control of the government and teacg the politicians a lesson.

Hahaha..wishful thinking by an America-hating loser...why don't you fellows try to push India up instead of wishing ill for other countries? America's social and political systems are way too strong for it to end up like Sudan...India, at least some states in India seem to have much better chances of becoming like that.

Who has given the upper castes their tag? Colaji, the lower castes, who else? I for one would be glad to get rid of this tag, become a so-called 'lower caste' and get pampered by all and sundry politicians..

What happenned in earthquake of Gujrat.What happenned in floods of Mumbai?What happens in train accidents?What happenned when our plane was hijacked?What happenned in war with Pakistan? What happens in Cricket match 20-20 World Cup? All India was United.Who was asking caste or religion of a person? Brothers can fight with each other but they cant live separate with each other for long time.We are together but we miss our father of nation who can guide us when we get mislead.

What was the reason for division in between India and Pakistan ?, what was the reason for Mumbai riots ?, what was the reason for Gujarat riots ? who wrote the script for serial Bomb blasts in Mumbai ? who is behind parliament attack ? who is held responsible for Akshardham incident ? the answer is muslims in the name of jihad!!!!!!
I think Dr. Diamond has no awareness of India from the grass root level. Ofcourse we are the Nation having the largest existing Democracy. What about the fate of the common man at the rural side, his everyday struggle at all stages to get everyday bread. Is that what Democracy is giving us for the last 100 years. What about the So called Politicians and their integrity to rule the Country. How much money they evase in the name of Democracy? How much money they spend to get elected?? What about the sluggishness of the beurocrats?? Health provisons for the poor labours who dwell on the pavements. Democracy is Ok for the people who stand on dias with nice tie and Suit and Speak about it without knowing the pain of the common man who is facing torture for the lack of accountability among the rulers who became gods. Is that what Dr. Diamond is speaking about democracy????? PLEASE SEE INDIA AND INDIANS FROM THE GRASS ROOT LEVEL.Not standing on the pavements of NEWDELHI and conclude.

Dr.Diamond is actually dwelling on the status of these netas only and not blaming the people of India. People of India are voting for a neta at the right earnest, but the neta is puting his vested interests and family interests in front and using democracy to serve his needs by making fool of people. Why do you think awareness and education is still so low in this country. Because the netas can still make a foll of them. People who get educated do not vote as they know the reality. The uneducated (60%) vote and these corrupt netas come forward. Who cares for educated. That is why you see all this fuss about reservation.

Dear Mr.Edwin Sundar, I think you have NOT fully read Dr.Diamonds speech. In one of the above paragraph he says: ""You cannot defeat an insurgency by military means. You must address the social misgivings and grievances of marginalised groups. This is not an affirmation of their violence, of their willingness to eschew political channels to voice their message. It is an acknowledgement of core, entrenched inequalities that exist, and very often, ignite these insurgencies." I think with these words he has fully addressed your apprehensions and not just talking from a dais with suit & tie!! Yes I too fully feel that the problems of the poor (both rural & urban) must be fully addressed for democracy to survive and thrive.

I think Dr. Diamond has commented on some problems and has said they are serious. He ha salso hit the nail on the head when he says the problem is that leaders put family and private intrests above the public intrests. He says it is a miracle that we are still a democracy inspite of all the problems.
In India there are many religions,languages,regions,colour,cultures,and many different things. Even though we(Indians) are one. And we hail our democracy.We overlook whatever minus points we have in our democracy. Ours is good and best democratic country. Every one has freedom,rights etc.

In India there are many religions, languages, religions and casts. Even though we are one!!!! ????. Remember it is only applicable where Hindu majority. Ours is good and best democratic country, where loyalists to \\\\\\\"leader\\\\\\\" rejected by the voters are made cabinet ministers, like Shavraj Patil made home minister and Late P.M.Saed got another cabinet berth for the loyaty to their only and one leader imported.
india is an miracle because it is the land of hindus.....majority hindu's patience, rich culture, middle class contribute democracy to still survive in india......it has the perservance to absorb many shocks like brutual kashmiri terrorism........but in today's generation whether it is rich, middle or poor the patience levels are deterroiting fast and clashes due to misunderstandings are happenning quickly.......i see the roles of india and china reversed in next 50 years.....while china will go democratic way while india will go communist way due to rising unemployability due to increasing population........

your ans is also a miricle - as u sing glory of india in a communal way. Even if u get a complement u will never speak indian language, instead u will always speak communal language. India is a land which belongs not only to hindus but also to each and every human who lives in India

i would love to see muslims integrate in to indian mainstream......but they are putting hurdles of their own to integrate fully with indian mainstream......its frustrating to see muslim's opposition to uniform civil code, vandemataram song which are very essential for a united india.....they just seem to do not want to follow the law of the land instead they want to follow shariat law....it is this reluctance of muslims to fully integrate with indian mainstream society that is proving achillies heal to united india to emerge
