My iyer dont forget the fact that ur forefathers also were not hindus. HInduism came through the Aryan invasion and after pushing all dravidians to the south. so dont give shit like telling india belongs only to the hindus.

The list is not complete without the names of Advani, Modi,George Ferandes, Togadia, Singhal and the like. Today's mess of terrorism and cast politics is a direct result of Babri Masjid starting from Bombay Blasts and implementation of Mandal Commission's report. The strong foundation laid by founding fathers like Gandhi, Nehru, Sardar Patel and many others are still holding the load. Vajpayee was the last of the mohicans - unfortunately he is too old and sick. Unless we get another Vajpayee, downhill trend will continue. Only hope is the good number of bright young people in Congress for which I give credit to Sonia's vision. But for this young parliamentarians odds are very much against. Even for Sonia, it will be quite difficult to put these young group in the forefront.

RE:Democracy due to Hindus and bering ripped apart by Muslims
by Sankar Mitra on Dec 19, 2007 07:18 PM  Permalink
Please get your facts correctly. Have you heard about the countries called Turkey, Indonesia, Malaysia? They all have democracy. Please note that Iran had democracy much earlier than India. That democracy was crushed by the Americans with the help of CIA and a puppet called Shah was installed as the king so tha the Americans could get their oil at throw away price. West has put a puppet in all the oil rich countris (and that happens to be all Muslim countries) as kings so that their thirst for oil is met.

Hindu united with muslims makes hum.We have faught our battle of independence together.Jinnah and Nehru due to their hunger of becoming PM spoiled everything. They become so much successful that their policies are used by political parties now also. Can anyone tell what was the contribution of Jinnah and Nehru in our freedom movement.

This is a great nation.
by Manoj Rudhran on Dec 19, 2007 06:00 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Bharat is god's own country. Ofcourse there is corruption, hatred etc. etc.. But still we are great. There is no nation with such negative concepts. Having said that I did not mean we should address it but I am all these diseases can be treated. We are Great in the sense that inspite of our multi religious, multi lingual and multi specialities we are intact as a Nation. No nation in this world has such a quality. We are showing to the world how to be united in diversity. Our democracy might look like a miracle to all who does not support or who does not wish democracy to be established. No doubt we THE INDIANS WILL RULE THE WORLD.

JAI HIND.

I appreciate your sense of optimism. Please come back to reality. If you think we are great inspite of hatred, corruption, then you are are 'cat'(when it's closes it's eyes it thinks whole world has gone with closed eyes'(world has gone dark).
But the reality is now people are not sticking to their roots, so if you want our 'specialites' to be retained, then first we must respect and feel proud ourselves. Which will come when we are 'needy' (time like Kargil war) and when we have selfless guys ruling us(none other than Abdul Kalam). But not when we have politicians like Sonia & co who rule nation of one billion by having all dummies alike Manmohan Singh(good economist but a sedate politican) and useless PArthiba Patil(who has absolutely no credentials) in top power.

For Indians to rule the world, we need a transparent, corruption free, caste less(in law/education) system in place. Until we have this, how much ever we grow, we will be like running in 'trend mill' (Moving fast but sill at the same place).

food for thought

in a democracy, the government is just a reflection of its people. So it shouldn't surprise anyone that our government is lazy, corrupt, selfish, hypocritical, etc etc

Corrupton and Social responsibility
by PANIWALA AMIN A on Dec 19, 2007 05:58 PM  Permalink

If we look back Indian Democracy has survived because of it started with the lot of positives.
1) It is my view that corruption has increased many fold in these years. Today we have not only corruption from top (from rulers) but also corruption from Bottom (from public) as we see unhelthy competition for money - rat race- lowering the moral values in general public. Now elections are fought based on community / religion (Yadav / Dalits / Hindu or Secular - with the aim to taget Muslim / Christians) - instead of focus on Economic development of the country i.e. on policy matters. These results in increased corruption.
2) Social responsibilty: I was impressed by the influence of empoyees (Union) on the outcome - during Corus negotiatins and now by Ford - for TATA - group who is one of the Indian company having Social responsibility - as one of the MOTTO of the company - but when I watch movement of their stock (specially Rich persons of India resposible for these) with respect to one other company who pays minimum tax (when company pays tax - it is their contribution to the growth of the nation) and lags behind - when you see around for their record of social reposniblity.
It really pains to see that you don't find volunteers for NGO / NGOs being neglected - many of whom are giving best services - but you don't find support for them
Solution lies in education - Literacy and vocation training - but still we don't find any improvement. Education need to be freed
