Aaja Nachle
by Pat Thakur on Dec 02, 2007 09:14 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

With due respect to all religion, caste etc., I have begun to smell a rat here. Yesterday, I too had written off a message that contained words of depth.
But seeing this spree of banning, I have begun to feel otherwise. I personally feel it is a matter of give - n - take. The Director & Politicos sign an agreement -

1) The director releases the film.

2) The politicos ban the film & create a furore 'coz it contains derogatory remarks (!) against a particular caste; it gives them political mileage; this is excellent as concerns the fast approaching elections.

3) The director shows sense & says he will delete the remarks. The politicos then withdraw their ban. All are happy.

Both the Politicos & Director have gained what they want - Publicity. In this melee, the ones who have been used very carefully are the members of that Particular Minority. Poor souls!

"There's no such thing as bad publicity!" It is a marketting axiom. But honestly I dont belive that the director inetnded it to create controversy. We are becoming a very intolerant society.

Ha, ha, ha. I have just mentioned the possibility of something & people have started branding me as "Dirty n Negative Minded." That means the latter half of my post is 100% true -

"Think rationally my friend, not with blind emotion. That's what we Indians are famous for, thinking with our hearts more than with our minds & in the end get screwed up."

It's not 'bout me, that's the trend nowadays. Say whatever you might or cry foul, it has come to stay. Marketing is the byword of this Modern Age. Gone are those days when Quality was tops or people advocated quality. Nowadays, goods deemed unfit for even the "Pounding Chair" get sold off as "Gems".
And in this case, many things are at stake including the Comeback Of Madhuri. The director will do anything in such a case to make it a resounding success. Think rationally my friend, not with blind emotion. That's what we Indians are famous for, thinking with our hearts more than with our minds & in the end get screwed up.

by Madhwa on Dec 02, 2007 08:58 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Tell that to all the so called lower caste people! I challenge any one of these people to give up their castes! Will they? They wont for the obvious benefits that they get by being belonging to a particular caste! Otherwise, except BJP, all the p[olitical parties will cease to exist!

If only anything was said against Brahmins
by Gopal Krishna on Dec 02, 2007 06:16 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

If the song had something derogatory against Brahmins, YFE would have been out on the streets on force. There would have been self immolations, fatvas and what not! Ditto for Muslims.

BJP will not support such a ban.
They will have to lose-

2) Advani for Hawala
3) Vajpayee for petrol & UTI ghotala
4) Shivraj Singh Chauhan for dumper ghotala
5) Judev for buying MPs
6) Many MPs who take money for asking questions in Parliament
7) Pramod Mahajan for....., Sorry, he is already lost!

Movies are for what? for Pure entermainment or for polytics? The much controversial sentence in the song comes as a IDIOM .. which means... somebody of lower caliber thinks himself as intelligent... And should not be taken Word by Word .. ( like we did for HEADLESS CHICKEN)....

Caste and Religion
by rigved dubhashi on Dec 02, 2007 02:42 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

How many people here have read and understood what their religious books have to say. How much good has a religion done till date than it has done bad. What are castes, who invented them? Do we need them today? How is religion and caste system helping my country to develop. Do you need a religion and a caste to be a good human being? (given that these days most don't read whats written in their religious books). Waiting for answers

Take Communist Ruled Soviet Union, North Korea, Cuba etc... where atheism ruled/rules, and there is no religion, these countries are even worse in terms of human rights and oppression of the weak, try to prove that they were better humans. Everyone knows that Atheist Soviet Union's invasion of Afghanistan was the trigger for people like Bin Laden

by rigved dubhashi on Dec 02, 2007 02:20 AM  Permalink

people still call themselves sceduled caste/lower caste and then we talk about abolishing caste system. Its sad to see that till date I see a field on a government form asking my caste. For how many years will this continue and how is it helping India as a developing nation? Whats the purpose of having a caste? Way to go India!!

what kind of hypocricy in ind by politicians?
by . on Dec 02, 2007 12:49 AM  Permalink

"decision was taken following reports from various quarters that there was "heavy resentment and anguish among the people belonging to Scheduled Caste community..."

but when protests against reservation policies of arjun singh were high, they did not think that their decision of increasing quotas wud result in unrest in the country.
