Lower cast people understand the vote bank politics.
by manoj on Dec 02, 2007 12:38 PM  Permalink

Scedule caste people feel insulted by few utterances in the movie? And what about when they feel pain of poverty whole day, every day. No body has time to think and do something about it. Only ban the movie. What a easy step to protect backward caste. But i dont think people of lower caste are fool. they r educating fast and understand that these are just politics for the vote bank.

The periyar movie, and so many movies picture brahmins as bad guys and have been doing for the past 6 decades without any problem. I agree with Mayavati that any thing that bothers any caste should be banned. Then most of the telugu and tamil movies have scenes blatantly derogating brahmins. Belive me Brahmins did not do any thing that bad, without them we would have been Somali tribes and with mother father. I think brahmins also should react to the nonsense that goes on. The caste is adhered to very well by every one who criticize others. The jerk who took peiyar movie syas in 1907 99% of the gazeted officers were Brahmins and so we can screw them now. In 1907 British did not reserve these positions nor did they make reservations in schools and colleges. Who ever wanted to go it was fine. Whole state of Andhra had one or two lawyers. We all worked for British, what eve job he gave and what name he called the job by. I know some of the DK nincumpoops will write letters justifying discrimination-they should be banned from India. Mayavati is right and if such actions are not taken, insults will go on, however small or big.

I agree. The present CM of TamilNadu, is always calling a certain caste as Aryans and Parpans, even though he and his own children look fair skinned, speak Hindi . As far as the Periyar movie, in 1907, the high presence of bramins in govt jobs was because only bramins took up to higher education and learning english while other castes did not take up to english learning. This was an aberration for 50 years or so and got corrected even during kamaraj rule. Today, 90% of wealth and power in TN is held by OBCs and OBC leaders discriminate against Dalits.

Remember that atleast in South India/TN, OBCs were the kings, landlords etc, and bramins were just living a marginal existence, except for the 50-100 years of British rule and anyway that is all long gone, it is time for OBCs to give importance and improve lot of Dalits in the state. We have a Dalit CM in UP , but there is no Dalit CM in TN. Why?

DALITS are in a far worse condition in Pakistan, Bangladesh, what you have to say about that?

Caste system is existing even among Indian Christians. Perhaps you may not know but Japan had its own caste system (AINUS).

The problem is not with one religion, because we find around India, there are many countries following other religions which are even in worser shape than India.

Education and economic growth is what our society needs, not fault finding.

How the caste system hurts crorers of Indians?
by Kumar on Dec 02, 2007 12:10 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The caste/'profession' gets defined by birth and worst still since India does not have the concept of dignity of labor, certain professions got labelled as extremely lower category. People who were born into families practicing these professions were then forced to lead a life full of insults, humilition, fear, opression and torture. If they were talented in other areas (more cushy professions) then opportunities were stolen from them, unjustly, causing mental anguish, pain and emotional truma not to forget extreme poverty. Haven't you read about the story of Eklayva from Mahabharata? It's a shamelful event and Guru Drona must have been a first class racist who would have put Hitler to shame.

Now even when someone from the lower caste gets into a better profession or business (like Dr. Ambedkar did) the people from upper caste having bigoted mindset cannot tolerate this.
Very strangely, instead of feeling joys that fellow citizens are getting out of poverty and misery, these bigoted individual continue to taunt, hurt and insult even innocent people. When the bigots do these evil acts, not once do they considor how wrong and unjust their acts are. Why? Becuase bigotry and racism have made them like animals, feeling no compassion, empathy and having no lack of justice. They cry about the Mughal atrocities on Hindus but show no sensitivity to their own atrocities of many more native Indians. Shame!

The bigoted guys have an utter lack of empathy, compassion and sensitivity. God's chosen people? Well, this concept was invented in the middle east so you know from which country the people claiming to be 'God's chosen people' migrated from.

And in case the bigoted-ones feel they didn't migrate from the Arab world then this makes the caste system a moot point! But I think deep within they know hence the caste system refuses to go away.

THE LYRICIST IS AN IDIOT AND HE MUST APOLOGISE IMMEDIATELY..
by MGR Fan on Dec 01, 2007 11:19 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The problem is that this guy (Mishra) is a bramin and because of this idiot, the normal common man of this caste will be condemned and get more bad name. Because of this idiot, bramins in say TamilNadu, who may not even watch these movies will get into trouble and local DK goons will use this as a pretext to do name calling.

My question is why you idiot (Mishra- the lyricist) should put other millions of other forward castes in trouble, these are the millions of normal people who dont discriminate dalits, why should we get blamed for what you did? Better you apologise, anyway we dont need any songs.

Why Mayawati dislikes word Mochi ( Shoe Maker)??
by ASHOK on Dec 01, 2007 09:49 PM  Permalink

Person from Any caste can be Mochi.
Mochi is a profession.

Good Mochi is needed by by companies like Gucci.
They are paid a hefty some.

Design institutes have special classes in Shoe
making. Best Designers are rewarded.

What is Maywatis problem.

I can not understand this lady.
She kicked out Reliance Fresh
She Kicked out Reliance Power plant.

It seems she has no work to do anymore.

Jab Mochi bana Bata:
by Ramesh Kapoor on Dec 01, 2007 09:15 PM  Permalink

A dialogue from a movie I watched many years ago (I forgot the title though) wherein the hero distinguishes between low paid jobs and high status owners. A dhobi becomes a laundromat owner, a nayi becomes a hairdresser, and a mochi becomes a Bata. Nothing wrong with these professions, and today we have women are excelling as hairdressers, and I am sure Mayawati's hairdresser also comes from higher caste, and she wears shoes that were cobbled by Bata or any other professional shoemaker. That is beside the point. No job is less important so is that of a Chief Minister where even an ST/SC can sit and preach inequality for popular votes.

modern castes
by C D Tamhankar on Dec 01, 2007 07:15 PM  Permalink

railway TT/TC pretends as a railway minister.

Jr. clerk projects as a head-clerk

Constable behaves like a commissioner

If any remarks are passed on these modern castes then the film producers should face similar action.

Using the word!
by Nirnay on Dec 01, 2007 04:57 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Using a word which is related to a particular caste, and in a country like us, should not be overlooked. These producers and directors are taking people for granted. Most of these guys are from erstwhile landlord class, who still are insensitive to people's feelings. At least now they realised. It does not make sense, when it is banned initially. How will the people know that these things are happening. It is right time that this film is banned soon after it is released. Now this message is sent across all India and to every continent. SC commission should summon every artist who have part taken this cooked up dish and let them be tried according laws of parliament. People will know, that 3000 years of mistakes of forefathers will not be tolerated anymore...

boss, you seem to against progress & a perfect example of narayana murthy's statement "india is the only country where people fight to remain backward"

However harsh it may seem, the fact is that claiming to be SC/ST has not helped our country in anyway as it puts merit on the background
