USA or China
by kalpen tripathi on Aug 31, 2007 12:37 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The big question is India wants to be US or China. These days you cannot just stand alone when countries like China want your territory, Pakistan hates india, etc. The US people and the Indian people now understand each other more then any other time in history.
India should go ahead. BJP is worried that it could not get the deal congress managed to get.

I think CPM will give a total support
to Cong govt. for the 123 deal but from the backdoor , and may be Cong and CPM are in round table meeting
to get the thing done without any clear discussion on the deal.

But some one need to clear why discussions not allowed re. 123 deal clearly in the parliament.

USA can sign a major deal without a discussion in the senate???????????

Left parties in dilemma !
by Devendra Rawat on Aug 31, 2007 12:26 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Left has always opposed this deal. Now Govt. or atleast PM has alredy made up his mind in pushing through the deal, although he tried hard in convincing our left members. Now Left party seems to have some concessions in this matter so that they can come out as winner in this episode.

When the USA offered

a permanant U.N seat to the Republic of India and alliance in 1950s, it was turned down by the old P.M. Nehroo who went for an alliance with the Soviet Union and later signed an 12345 point agreement with the P.R. of China resulting in lots of territory snatched and a growth rate of just 1.2% and over 50% poverty level.

This is the 2nd time the USA is offering an alliance and there WONT be a 3rd time.

You only have the politicians to blame.

good relations with America means automatic good relations with the OECD and massive trade & export oppurtunties, jobs, outsourcing, technology transfer, liberal travel regulations and countless other benefts.

entering the bad-books of America means no more trade or exports with the OECD, no jobs, no outsourcing, restricted travel, no other benefits, no American/European/Japnese/Korean products.

Only Chinese Pong-Wong cars & plastic toys and Russian Lada cars will be available.

Credibility of a democracy is in danger because here the government has decided to bypass the parliament, its own top scientists and of course the we the Indian People who, according to Mr. Singh, are nincompoops and do not have brains for rational thinking.

Will the honourable prime minister explain why he had curtailed the funding for nuclear energy when he was the F.M. He must be gloating at the thought that then he could not demolish the Indian Nuclear program but he would now enslave it for ever.

Well done Mr. Singh. Your integrity is not under question as long as you don not let people understand what the deal is all about. So please let there be no discussion in the parliament and let there be no vote. Stop the scientists from addressing the parliament.

Our only request is that you please liberalise the nuclear establishment and sell it to some outside outfit and that would shut it down for ever. Then this rich nation can keep buying arms worth forty billion $ and the 80% population would live luxuriously under 20 Rs. per day.

Thank you

We shouldnot mind the BJP and communists in this matter
They are arrogant elements who are ready to sacrifice countrys interests if they think they get some benefit or an oppurtunity for an election.

So irrespective of what they say, MMS should go ahead. Majority of Indians are with him!

This is the best time for N-deal
by Brian Antao on Aug 31, 2007 12:09 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is the right time to get the Nuclear deal finalized and operationalized. We cannot afford to wait, and dilly dally over it, becaue the Left want to hold us back in the dark ages. Waiting now would indeed mean missing the bus on the opportunity which may never come back agan so soon again. Think of all the benefits that it has to offer you ... more stable and robust electric power supply round the clock. This deal will take India out of nuclear isolation that we have been in all these years, you should see it as that, not as though it woul bind us to slavery as though what the Left is painting the dark gloomy picture about it. The Left is paranoid about the deal because it is with the USA, if it was with China or Russia they would have been blindly supporting and signing on the dotted line any thrash deal.
