I was in Srinagar last month and felt that I was in any other Indian city. There was an atmosphere of peace and quiet everywhere and yes, I too was on the boulevard alongside the Dal at around 9.30 P.M. and also early morning at around 7.00 A.M. I also walked all the way from my hotel near the Dalgate area to teh Lal Chowk area and not once did I feel any apprehension. The security measures are still there but, much discrete. The shops are well stocked and teh patronage is good.

As an aside, the shops are three in number in the new complex and I carried my half in my pocket for nearly two hours, roaming along the boulevard. No problems at all.

If srinagar is like any other city, its partially because of army and mostly because of the people there who see no reason to stay away from India. Even though somany human rights violations are committed by army in the name of duty, people still believe its better to be inside India and reap the benefits. Log thang hogaye hai sarkar se aur jawanon se.....bas unka kashmir unhe dedo......may be India should also conduct criminal proceedings against all the army officers who violate basic human rights like in USA.

Its a good eye wash for india.this kind of news has been reported soooo many times before then something happens and its back in the news.
RESOLVE kashmir issue once for all.
then i dont think there will be any problem.
why does anyone want to occupy any land which does not belong to them.

It's good to see changes

It is good to see changes in the valley which had seen a 'vicious circle' of terrorism and hatred for many years. The changes are a welcome thing. But the changes are mainly coming from outside interventions. One should take the localites in confidence for these changes. Though they know that these are usual with the change of time, but they they should be conveyed that these have come for their benefits. This message should be specially conveyed to the separatists.....
