Left, Right or Middle, anyone that trifles with America & its allies the European Union, Japan, Taiwan & South Korea, the largest economic bloc in the world - 40 trillion dollars/year (OECD) will soon be inhabiting mud-huts like Cuba, Syria, Sudan, Somalia, North Korea.

Russia and China is peanuts compared to the OECD.

good relations with America means automatic good relations with the OECD and massive trade & export oppurtunties, jobs, outsourcing, technology transfer, liberal travel regulations and countless other benefts.

entering the bad-books of America means no more trade or exports with the OECD, no jobs, no outsourcing, restricted travel, no other benefits, no American/European/Japnese/Korean products.

Only Chinese Pong-Wong cars & plastic toys and Russian Lada cars will be available.

being closer with america/europe after 1990 was much more useful as the economy grew by 9% and poverty level declined to 26%, unlike the nehruvian/soviet alliance growth rate of 1.2% and poverty level of 50%.

it would be very unfortunate if domestic political wranglings and tussles (without a clue as to how the international economy works), sent the economy spiralling downward into the dumps.

Decide Yourself
by Jitesh Kumar Agrawal on Aug 30, 2007 03:34 PM  Permalink

Congress tried to play politics in this too and that has backfired on them now. This deal was started during the NDA Govt. term so does anyone know why BJP is opposing it now?????

Its because Congress did not think it to be necessary to discuss the provisions of the deal in the Parliament with an idea of putting it before all that this deal has been done by Congress for the benefit of all. PM even went to the extend of defending this by saying that it was a bilateral agreement between 2 Govt. and Parliament need not be given details before the deal and when its done it can be informed to the Parliament. Congress thought that since it was started by NDA, they would not oppose it and they will have a cake walk getting it passed in the parliament and now it has backfired on them badly.

The details of agreement since its discussion whatever people came to know of was through press briefings that US had to give to its people back there in US....Indian Govt. was never transperent on the whole deal. Its only when it was signed that it came into public domain for which the PM now begs that it has been signed and sealed and cannot be renegotiated...and if we go back on the agreement, India would loose face Internationally.

Now its for you all to decide what Congress did was it right....though the deal is very important to every Indian National, the question is whether the conduct of Congress was correct????

I don't understand what left really want when India did Nuclear test in 1999 they were against the Nuclear test and now in 2007 thay are asking India's firm right to do Nuclear test.
Totally Double standard politics by Left.
Actually Left is anti India and anti poor. They actually don't want Indians progress because they will loose vote bank if people become literate and rich.
I just want to say to Left how you can help to poor(needed people) if your country and state is also poor.
Totally Double standard politics by Left.
Left should learn from the states in India like Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat thay are fighting each other for Foreign Investments and creating millions of Jobs every year for middle class and poor.

Was the research fruitful for the common citizen. We have the technology to explode the nuclear bomb (uncontrolled explosion). But we are still not aware about its constructive usage (controlled explosion). US is ready to provide us that tech as readymade. We must accept that.

National interests of the Left
by Natesh on Aug 30, 2007 03:31 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

A serious rift within the party surfaced in 1962. One reason was the Sino-Indian War, where a faction of the Indian communists backed the position of the Indian government,
while other sections of the party claimed that it was a conflict between a socialist and a capitalist state, and thus took a
pro-Chinese position. There were three factions in the party - internationalists, centrists, and nationalists. Internationalists supported the Chinese stand where as the Nationalists backed India. Centrists took a neutral view.
Prominent leaders including S.A. Danke, A. K. Gopalan, and E. M. S. Namboodiripad were in the nationalist faction. B. T. Ranadive, Sundarayya, P. C. Joshi, Basavapunniah, Jyoti Basu, and Harkishan Singh Surjeet are among those supported China. Ajoy Ghosh was the prominent person in the centrist faction.
In general, most of Bangal communist leaders supported China and most others supported India [1]. Hundreds of CPI leaders, accused of being pro-Chinese were imprisoned. Some of the nationalists were also imprisoned, as they used to express their opinion only in party forums, and CPI's official stand was pro-China. HK Surjeet influenced by Russia to setup an underground organization CPI did proceed to recruit a secret organization within the Indian Army. China Russia insisted that the CPI must develop a standby apparatus capable of armed resistance, while intensifying penetration of Indian Military forces.

Mr. Natesh,

Please stop diverting the attention from the real issues. The communist party's act of treason does not warrant the Congress and its crony's act of treason either.

All that is being asked is an open debate in the parliament -- Do you have a problem with that! Please go on to read the following:

Manmohan Singh as the finance minister had conspired to subvert the nuclear programme by shutting of the funding and now he is trying to accomplish that by signing this agreement.

If above is not the reason why does he hesitate in open parliamentary debate with the prominent legal, nuclear research scientists and scientists participating in it so that the nation knows all about what is it that they are getting into.

I hope you would be kind enough to not get into rhetorics and instead reflect on the serious aspects of the treaty.

Dear Readers,

Today's big threat to India is Terrorism. Please read Times of India issues of 28 to 30th August'07 and know the facts and realize our duty as to what we can do to curb terrorism as Government is not going to do anything. Neither our politicians have any will to do that.
