All salaried people pay taxes. IT dept ensures that. Business owners evade taxes. which states have highest percentage of business owners. Gujarat, Maharashtra, Punjab, etc. Why dont you look up relevant data on govt website to find out who sucks up how much taxes. It will be revealing. Crime is rampant everywhere. Money related crime is highest in in rich cities like Delhi. Telgi and Harshad mehta are not from UP. UP has mostly revenge oriented murders, etc. Most of what outsiders think of UP is media hype created by people who have never been to UP. People from all states are living in UP, including Punjabis, Begalis, marathis, keralites, etc. No one ever tells people from other states to leave UP. I have lived in UP for so many years. I worked with marathis, bengalis, keralites, punjabis, etc. They were never made to feel like outsiders. As it is, all indians are welcome in UP. ONLY in UP can you find INDIANS. Rest of India is full of non-indians. Marathis, Gujaratis, punjabis, malyalis go out and settle in foreign countries but protest if people from UP come to their states. Hypocritical!!. Grow up and accept your nationality. Also as someone suggested, remove UP and Bihar. Do it arithmatically and see how developed India will become. You will be surprised as you will remain as underdeveloped as before. Ask world bank whether whole of INDIA has become a developed country except for UP and Bihar. Ask the Americans whether they distinguish Indians based on their states

My passionate friend from UP, Americans do not distinguish Indians based on their states. They see beggars when they come here. They dont know these beggars are Biharis and Hindis. When they come to India and get robbed, they dont know most criminals in North India are Hindis. Even the underworld from Mumbai has mostly UP ppl in their ranks. When their women get stared at, while sightseeing at the Taj Mahal, they dont know that these are UPites with their great traditions (while they keep their women in purdah-or burn them). They dont know most ppl driving rickshaws and hawking fake goods are Biharis.
As far as accepting other ppl is concerned, when your own language is accepted as national language, it helps being more 'accommodating'. Also if your state is living out on doles of taxes being given by other states, it helps your nationalism even more. I doubt if all the 'work' you do in UP & Bihar woruld contribute to a metalled road on the state highway between Lucknow and Balia.

Just as India is catching up with developed countries, poor states shall overtake teh rest. Earthquakes couldnt damage Gujarat. Floods are an yearly feature. Theres an additional feature UP doesnt have.......drought. Gujarat has a different spirit. You can wish all the earthquakes you want on these states. They will not stoop to that level. They have spirit. Some states do not. They only have guns.

India IS Bihar and UP. If not for these two states, you will not have food, minerals and labor. The only irony is that people spend more at spa than they do for food.

I got what you said. Compare wit hGujarat riots, Bombay riots, etc. UP has no such thing as JKLF, ULFA, naxalites, LTTE. UP has never and will never talk of seccession from the Indian state. UP stands for INDIA.

What do you mean our tax contribution. Are you talking of BOmbay's tax contribution. You should know that it is high because all companies HQs are located in Bombay. For example, I was working in a fertiliser plant in UP but the HOffice of the company was in Bombay. So our efforts in UP were reflected as taxes in Bombay. Thsi si so for all the companies Head offices in Mumbai. Remove MUmbai's contribution from Maharashtra's contribution and then see the figure, The whole country invests in BOMBAY stock exchange. BOMBAY is national commercial capital. You cannot include BOMBAY in Maharashtra. GO fugure out who pays what to whom???

Mr.Dirt, You have named yourself very aptly, and regarding getting rid of UP and Bihar. Open your Eyes and see the Govt facts. These two states are major contributor to Indian Economy.
- UP is ranked 7th in Corruption (Much below Karnataka which is at 4th.)
- UP and Punjab collectively feed India, they are the Food Bowl of India.
- UP has highest employment ration in india.
- Bihar & Jharkhand are the biggest contributor in Coal, Iron and Minerals segment, without which most of our industry cant survive.
- And regarding guns, Yeah there are Guns, we took to guns way back to fight the invaders. While you was polishing the shoes of British%u2019s.
So don%u2019t think that sitting in Kerala or somewhere else in south you can pass a judgment on these two states.

The article header is misleading. India has only 4 firearms per 100 civilians..far far less than most countries. Even Pakistan has 3 times more firearms.
