I am surprised to hear the comments of Mr Sadat. Muslims have denied modern education for decades, and thats the reason the are lagging behind. They have not allowed their women to come out and study/work, thats why their women are being left out of mainstream (also such women can't guide their children for good education). Worst of all, very well educated (Doctors) are exploding bombs on innocent ppl.
So, fix all these issues first. Then you will feel that you are lucky to be in a great country like india, and not in a shi*thole like Pakistan or Bangladesh.

Just because India is not dealing with your so-callled real issues, does not mean India should not go ahead with nuclear deal.

India should sign the nuclear deal with U. And more importantly , India should also look into "real" issues like employment, terrorism, poverty etc,

Muslims of the world by and large blame the US and Bush in particular for their so called hedgemony. They do not wish to examine the facts of themselves. I can argue (as long as reason is maintained) that Bush and US govt. have done exactly anybody in their position would have done. It's the muslim mindset which is wrong and as it has been wrong historically in most cases. This nothing personal against muslims - but muslims need to critically examine why almost all of them unanimously play ostritch when faced with cutting doubts about the situations they allow around themselves and instead voice their ire against US and the western thoughts. It's like throw stones to hide sinning hands. This point however is very difficult - if impossible - to be conveyed - and there-in lies the problem. It's not the faith itself - because a comparision of faiths always leads to no party winning - it's the collective thinking under the faith which is the problem.

Definition of Nation's Growth
by Lalatendu Deo on Aug 28, 2007 07:58 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

A point of view that the Left Parties possess can not be made as a qualification for their contribution to the nation's well being.

There is a vital question as to what constitute as the growth of nation. Several persons have several answers to it. One being that of the said expert's and another being that of the left party's. Of course, I have my own definition of the constituents of Nation's growth.

To me, what the Left Parties are doing are in line with the process of nation building. Of course, some of their activities go beyond the Democratic way. But that is perfectly acceptable.

Telling some in-coherent things, is not going to give us any solution. We, as voters, have mandated to give ourselves this choice. And if the Left Parties are having a position to dictate the course of the 123 by virtue of it, let it be. We shall surely have ways out.

And I see the positive side of it. By doing all these, the Left has brought us to a situation from where we can extract some more from the agreement. At least there would some clarifications coming from the other side, if not we have further negotiations on the matter. Is not it good for India? Then, shall we not say that they are in for nation's building?

There are several postings here where abusive language has been used. That does not mean those who write these, are bad people. We must take them in our stride. Is not it, Chintu?

Nuclear experts / regulators need to answer this question first..
by Peter Parker on Aug 28, 2007 07:43 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Why is it that we have suddenly developed a crunch for nuclear raw material?
When was this first understood and why were the nuclear power generation estimates not revised.
Clearly if there was a shortfall, then power generation estimates from nuclear power were optimistic rather than realistic. Why wasnt this conveyed to the indian public / media?
Something just doesnt make sense. First we say that we are completely self-sufficient in the nuclear sector, then we claim that we need technology in this sector especially for reprocessing? Finally we claim that we are running out of uranium but have never developed new mines in india itself?
To me all these ex-AEC types are beating around the bush. They also havent answered conclusively whether the indian deterence is actually working like it claims. Within the AEC itself there is doubt about the fusion device.
Maybe Mr Shrinivasan should address these questions first.

How is it that you want to jump into an agreement that constrains the nation without getting a complete picture about whats happening in the very field that agreement supposedly strenghtens.
So far we were fed the line that all is well with the nuclear sector. Now suddenly there is a lack of technology, severe lack of raw materials as well as other constraints. Well how come this was not addressed before? How is it that the planning commission did not know about this and sector targets were non-realistic? If you look at the revised targets based on the successful completion of this treaty, it will barely measure 3-5% of the power capacity required.
Do you find it strange that any ex-AEC chairman has not mentioned this before but is so willing to comment on political affairs?
This is the Kangress-Unkil working hand-in hand to force any opposition to bend to its will.
FYI i am neither socialist, communist nor am i from the 2 states mentioned. I will also give you this, I am neither muslim, nor bhaiyya or pak-jabi from the former undivided Punjab.

Left not bothered about nation's growth -
by Bodh Ramdeo on Aug 28, 2007 07:39 PM  Permalink

India's constitution does not require treaties signed by govt to get Parl aprroval to become law, so as it stands, the treaty signed by the PM MMS, is already legally binding.
And everyone knows that the left is not bothered about India's growth, especially if ti can pose a threat t the dominance of their masters in beijing. This whole brouhaha is just bollocks - one huge farce by Beijing's agent provocatuers, the Commies, led by CPI to derail the N-deal, by their daily mouthing all manner of threats and terrible consequences if the deal is 'operationalized', yet they have openly and categorically ruled out putting the treaty to a vote or pulling their outside support and thus bringing down the UPA govt.
So the heck with the Commie traitors - MMS for once showed some balls in challenging these Commie traitors go through with thier threats, and he won hands down - the Commies know that without the coat-tails of UPA, they'll be nowhere - no seat at the table of power, so they'll continue with thier empty threats, in order to keep the attention of their stupid, brainless, ignorumas followers.

Shrinivasan should stick to his expertise and not go into politics..
by Peter Parker on Aug 28, 2007 07:23 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Just because he has some credibility in nuclear related matters does not mean he has credibility in politics. The fact is that by having a political role out for himself, he is damaging his own credibility as an objective independent observer.

Why, do you think only some handful of persons have the right to go that way?

No, I do not think that by expressing his views he has done a wrong thing. Rather we have got another point of view, which those who matters may consider.

The statement signifies that RAW have specific information about their anti-India activities for which they are against them.
