Not expected from BJP.....
by on Aug 21, 2007 06:28 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This kind of behavior (going against the national interests) is very much common to Left and Congress but least expected from BJP. Either BJP should explain to the people clearly the reasons for opposing or should not come in the way of deal. BJP can't behave arbitrarily and fool the people as the other parties do as because most of its voters are literates.

BJP's concern is about doing N-tests and continuing our N-weapon development program. If we stop this and go for deal at one point of time we shall be dependent on USA not only for energy needs but also for our defense. US senate has debated this deal rigorously for 2 years then why cant our parliament discuss it? BJP is asking govt to not to operationalise the deal till it gets approval from the parliament.

Face saved

I think face is saved for the UPA and CPM. The compromise to letting the deal through is inadvertantly offered by rediff. Sen will be slaughtered; CPM will get that in return to letting the deal through. You get one - I get one. So both win in the eyes of public. Sen episode will overshadow the N-deal stand-off and UPA will give CPM a loly pop i.e. conolation win.

Give him a benefit of doubt

It seems a kind of media generated mischief. But I am surprised by the arrogance of some sentences of Mr. Sen. He is a public servant and not self-employed representative. If he is very much Pro-deal, he could have said it in better ways.

BJP and Congress
by Johnnie Walker on Aug 21, 2007 06:13 PM  Permalink

Actually it is Congress who is playing partisan politics. Just because they have branded BJP as communal party they are not with them. It is the BJP and Congress who have almost the same economic strategy and still congress has joined hands with the China backed communists. They deserve what they are getting for being in bed with the left.

Ronen Sens Interview - Previledge Motion
by Ratnakar Mankad on Aug 21, 2007 06:11 PM  Permalink

We asked US to deliver on the promise of their President and not to pass their problems to us in implementing the agreement reached between US President and Indian prime minister. The reverse is equally applicable.

Any specific limitations on such an agreement should have been brought into the parliament when the matter was under discussion.

If Mr. Sen is right if he has said that India will lose credibility if we go back on 123 agreement.
