RE:IT IS HIGHLY ADVISABLE THAT THE CONGRESS PARTY
by babu on Aug 16, 2007 02:48 PM  Permalink
History is witness those countries which allies USA after 2nd world war now become developed countries. Like Japan, UK, Australia, Germany, Newziland etc.
And those countries which follows Russia are still undeveloped.Like India etc.
Now ball is in India's court, India has to decide between hunger & poverty OR prosperity.

Why not PM place the agreement on table and held open discussion in parliament - after all it is our RTI
by Kamal on Aug 16, 2007 02:11 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

If we remember it was the BJP government performed nuclear test and India faced ban on aids and grants for years. Despite that India flourished. By way of this agreement, US does not want India to flourish. Whatever might be the political advantage both BJP and Left are opposing the agreement. If the agreement is not placed on parliament and discussion held, this Government should be dismissed.

The USA actually imposed sanctions on India, it hardly had any effect so why bother about their obsolete nuclear technology.

Nuclear Deal with India will generate business worth about $100 Billion for the US companies. Hence, the US business lobby has put a lot of pressure on US govt. to get this deal through. But at the same time US wants to have all the conditions which suits them in the agreement. India accepts them meekly and signs them. but the way leftists are protesting is simply for Votes and on advise of China, their Master...

n deal
by Bal Sant on Aug 16, 2007 02:03 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

our energy requirement is very high and can not be solved by this deal. but what is imp. is that due to this deal we and us r coming closer to each other. pak n china r worried and the left parties are protecting china's interests in india, so they r opposing this deal. bjp do not understand anything except ram mandir, so they r opposing it because they r in opposition now, actually this process was started by them only, when they were in govt.

now economies are driving world politics.
us, china, india's economies are interdependent on each other, no one can think of war between devlpd countries. once terrorism ends, future generations will never talk about wars and jehads etc.

And you and Dr. Singh understand it very well. That is why our right to do any further nuclear tests has been clipped by the US with this deal.

by Sincere Citizen on Aug 16, 2007 02:00 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

We dont need nuclear energy, India should be focussing on Solar, wind and Hydel energy.
PM just did this deal to show that he is great, there are much more immediate and pressing problems at home and we are going gaga over a N-Deal which we dont need at all.

Germany is already focussing on converting 27% of their power generation from Solar energy by 2020, despite it being a cold and rainy country.

Here, in India we have abundant sunshine, winds,
water bodies still we will try to go for dangerous and expensive nuclear power.

It happens only in India.

Are you a BJP basher? The question here is
1)Does the Nuclear deal has the clause of scraping and has the PM agreed to it?
2)Was this shared with all the parliamentarians?
Even the left parties were involved in the the uproar in the parliament. Now whom are they trying to shield? Modi?
Really, you must get your brain scanned.

The core issue...
by Krishna Karedla on Aug 16, 2007 01:49 PM  Permalink

The core issue here seems to be, who will get the credit for bagging the nuclear deal.

The congress wants all the credit. The communists want to deny the credit...

The BJP is like a confused person, not knowing which direction to go...

Hilarious....

more such hilarious statements from Mr. Montek...

Politics of Parliamentary Protest and Service of Nation
by D goel on Aug 16, 2007 01:40 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

PKl. Afternoon, 1.20pm, Aug. 16th , Thursday, 2007.
It seemas our honourable members of lok sabha & Rajya-Sabha believe that if they go by the correct procedure of Rules to raising their criticism of matters like the Nuclear Agreement , that produces genuine apprehensions to members owning different political standpoints, the ruling elite may smugly take lightly what critics think are steps in the directions contrary to the National Interest. So the Angst of our presiding officers of Parliamentary Houses. It ought to be possible that as and when such highly volatile matters are on the floor the presiding officers should immediately arrange defusing by small consultations amongst the contesting groups and as far as possible the ugly scenes in the Houses are not allowed to create the impression that our honourable Parliamentarians lack elemenmtary courtesies of reasonable disputation ,an essential need for informed debates.Country is saved the sorry spectacle of repeated adjournments , waste of costly public time , and loss to the honour and reputation of our Sovereign Parliament , the very fount of republican democracy. All lovers of rule of law
and democratic run of parliament should give thoughts how to evolve modes of discussing thread-bare all implications of Issues that appear to evoke so much passion and reactions inside these houses and in country at large. It is incumbent that all sane public -opnion-makers join hands to mend this rot.D. Goel

what transparency you want? The deal is available to every indian to read on net. PM consulted BJP leaders on more than 01 occasion. Why they don't reveal what they discussed with PM. This deal is good for india and should be signed.

bunch of idiots
by sid routh on Aug 16, 2007 01:39 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I think the Left is a bunch of uneducated villagers that are going to stop India from progressing into the next century. This nuclear deal will open India to the eyes of the world and usher in the new era. It will help India get a seat in the Security council may be lead to the G8 someday followed by economic development.
The Left is only concerned about their personal gains.

You are wrong! The nucler deal sign is as good as signing non nuclear plorification treaty. US is successful now in maintaining control over india's foreign policy. They have won all the rights on india foreign policy by this nuclear deal.
