The recent news that 14 percent of those who qualified to the IIT were BCs who got through the general qouta. This means that these young men and women had the wherewithal to afford quality education to get into an IIT. This in itself shows that its the well to do and rich among BCs who are actually cornerning the benefits of reservation. The poor BC student still has no chance as his basic education level is so bad that he or she cannot aspire to get into an institute of higher learning.
What we need is reservations based on economic condition of the family. Be it a Brahmin or a ST student, let them avail of benefits if the family is truly backward, economically. Today we have the kids of Ram Vilas Paswan and Laloo Prasad Yadav cornering all the seats.
This process of educating the poor students should start from the primary level. Why should these students study in good for nothing government schools. Why cannot rich people sponsor one poor child each in a good English medium school. Pay their fees, for the books, uniforms and track how well these kids are doing. If need be, pay for their special tutions too. We have so many of us blowing up money in a KFC or a McDoanlds, when it can educate a child. Let us start the charity from home... Think about it.

By sponsoring a child's education ourselves. I sponsor the education of my maid's boy who unfortunately studies in a govt school. But is better than have the young lad sit at home. I pay for his fees, books, uniforms, all of which came to just 2000 rupees a year.

DEAR FRIEND, I AM NOT AGREE WITH YOU.CASTE IS THE ONLY TRUTH TO DEFINE INDIAN SOCIAL SYSTEM. IT IS THE ONLY PERMANENT CRITERIA.ECONOMIC CONDITION CHANGES EVEN IN A DAY.OBC ARE BACKWARD NOT BECAUSE OF THEIR ECONOMIC STATUS BUT BECAUSE OF THEIR SOCIAL EXCLUSION. YOU ARE JUDGING RAMVIALS OR LALOO BECAUSE OF THEIR POWER AND INFLUENCE. LALOO IS NOT AN OBC IN REAL SENSE. PL. BE RATIONAL AND SEE THE MILLIONS OF OBCS WHO CAN GET JUSTICE ONLY IF THERE IS RESERVATION, LIKE THE PRIVILEGE GIVEN TO SC/ST BY OUR CONSTITUTION.
Arjun sing and congress have become so old that they brains are rusted.Congress party has done enough divisions of Indian society and has done enough damage to the country.Arjun Singh is bent upon destroying the unity among the close nit Indian society, what is he going to gain by this reservations? Vote bank in his constituency to win the next elections?Come to Lok Sabha again and do further damage? This man is not capable to take care of his own household what good can he do to his constituency and the country?Remember the recent dowry case?In todays world of high competetiveness and proffessionals this man wants to creat and down grade the premium institutions to sarkari schools. What OBCs require on priority bases is not resevation, they need good living, food, cloths Health and education facilities, liberal loans for business, education and society upliftment this will creat the scholers and good executives and high profile men and women from the OBCs.By keeping the OBCs under hopeless conditions you cannot have the geniuses.OK Mr.Arjun Singh ???

well said sayed bhai, Let the government concentrate on upliftment of the poor immaterial of their caste or religion rather than trying to divide them further and create mistrust and enimity.

It is you who has to wake up. This was only a refusal to vacate an interim order. This can only postpone the inevitable. Unless we the citizens bring about serious changes to poltics, we will not be able to kill this demon called Reservation nor the other asura called social inequity. We will have to live with two asuras. Or we will keep on arguing ad-nauseum

No my friend this is not the inevitable. Unless the Govt comes up with the data (% OBCs in population that justifies 27% reservation) the SC will never grant its wishes. Gathering such data is very difficult for the Govt. The SC has also disallowed quoting the Tamil Nadu 69% reservation as precedent in this case.

Do not be too happy. It is only a temporary reprieve. Caste based reservations are going to increase. Not just that, the ambit of caste based reservations is going to include Private sector as well. If you are a 'no quota' caste, only option for you is: "Bharat Chhodo Andolan" And who cares for you. Leave India or go to hell.
Supreme Court has once again reinforced it's supremacy over the Executive run by IDIOTS.These fellows are creating splits in the people thereby containing Vote Banks!Similarly the Supreme Court should strike down the reservations for minorties which is on the cards of the political Govts.

Sameer, I appreciate your feelings. Unfortunately, you are not going to get any support, Reason - literate people don't vote. The day they start voting, there will be no shortage of able people in politics. You must have observed that few able people always stand in every election but fails to even save their deposit because the literate people don't vote. Had the literate people voted, these few able people would have been elected and out political system would have not been like it is.

yes, i agree with you... it is a shame thing that voting among literate people is low and voting among illiterate people is high in india....while in USA voting among literates is high and voting among poor and illiterates is low......this is absolutely a shameless thing for india.....no wonder politicians have come to soltion that middleclass and literates are worthless and hence they ignore them......
Reservation should have been a tool to lift a person to a certain level but now its a tool at the hands of politicians to seek votes. Supreme court might have delayed it for one year but it will again be passed next year as all political parties will pass it again as all need votes. But will even one polotician give in wrting that he and his family will get treatment from only those doctors who will be selected in reserve catagory at the cost of more talented candidates.I am sure no one will do that. They will go abroad or private hospitals.
All of the 3 aides and secretaries of MS and 7 members of AS aides in the ministry that carry out their work are qualified people from unreserved category. Guess they both never heard of practising what they preache....
Oh the irony!!!
Just recently Maharashtra Education department found 15 cases where officers divorced wives [only on paper] so that they could claim family income of single under Rs 3 lakhs per annum to claim promotion in reservations not meant for so called creamy layer [above Rs 3 lakh per annum]
