Let pragmatism prevail!
by bryan h on Aug 09, 2007 02:09 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

We don't need any more bombs. Schools, clean water, healthcare and building infrastructure might be better options. Let us focus on prosperity and development and not be ruled by a culture of guns, fear or fanaticism. Hyper-nationalism is not helpful in these circumstances. Rather, social and economic prosperity should be key. We are respected the world over as a moderate nation that is having great economic and social progress in the recent years. Let development be our priority.

You point it right Bryan. But does it mean countries like India should disband their defense establishments and save money for better use. There is an ever-aggressive China next door with hoards of nuclear weapons. There is an ever-hating Pakistan with risk of Mullahs taking over the government and control of its nuclear weapon stock. India would want to be peaceful and use its resources for development and alleviation of poverty but can it simply ignore its defense needs? Will the US promise to take on China if they decide to drop nuclear bombs on Indian cities? The reality is that no one will give a shit in such case thus India has to take care of itself.

Nuclear deal: It could have been worse
by damodaran mohan on Aug 08, 2007 06:36 PM  Permalink

deal or no deal , India can 'test' anyway. what happens if India conducts a 'test' without the deal ? repeat of 1974/1998 and aftermath sanctions, nuclear isolation continues etc. etc.? so, the consequences are even worse , right ? then why not give it a try to make best use of the deal and if forced to test by circumstances, then damn the deal . or make good with some simulation test! if we can do without the deal altogether because many think it is bad, then we should also be good enough to shirk it off midway ? why not our nuclear scientists come out with the comparisons of the consequences in case of 'test' with and without the deal. may be the common people will be able to view the deal in better perspective then.

Walking into a quagmire
by on Aug 07, 2007 05:33 PM  Permalink

Spineless Congress government full of psychophants is leading the country into a quagmire. While the Commies cannot be trusted, BJP has lost its potency to put together a planned argument and counter plan. Most of the Indian politicians and a high percentage of corrupt officialdom is killing the country - whenever it tries to rise on its own. It is a shame that responsible people like K.Subrahmanyam are supporting the agreement closing their eyes to the uncompromising US conditionalities. Can we trust US or for that matter any other country? We should have trust in ourselves. US is asking us not to do business with Iran. Can we ask US not to do business with Pakistan or for that matter China? Manmohan Singh, whom I used to adore at one time has turned into a spineless politicians holding Sonia's pallu? What happened to you Dr.? Why are you leading the country to destruction? Do you need this PM's chair against the interests of the country?

by Peter Parker on Aug 07, 2007 10:07 AM  Permalink

See out of the woodworks you see GOI stooges coming out. Where was raghavan when the GOI was selling out our security. Now this is another ploy to say oh we negotiated well or it could have been worse.
Unbelievable the GOI sends it's stooges out in so many waves thinking we are fool's. "Jaichand" Singh and "Italian" Mami Sonia are selling your country out. Stop them kick them out of power, they do not deserve to be ruling india

There is still Time
by Dipak Bose on Aug 07, 2007 10:00 AM  Permalink

It is not true everything is lost. Parliament got to approve the treaty. It is possible if most of the members agree Parliament can revoke the Treaty, otherwise it will be a dictatorship of the Prime Minister which is not democratic.
This treaty is a surrender, we all know. Now it is the time for most of the members to get together and cancel the treaty if they are honest.

Dangerous Step
by on Aug 07, 2007 09:49 AM  Permalink

Bharat needs an Injection of Hope and Inspiration at this critical time as it expands into the World Stage , not this dConscipton in Angl-Saxon Neo Imperialism.

It is hard for Congress Scum - whose brains and hearts have long been sold to the highest bidder , to think that the Aryan -Vedic Race of Indians are actually World Creators and Beaters - They have swalloed wholly the Anglo-Saxon myths and are a curse to this country.

Indian Armed Forces Need o intervene in Governance and form an Elite Panel of Eminent Indians , and re-write the constitution , Laws and Policies in a limited time and save the country -is anyone listening ???
