Making money year after year
by pradeep kumar on Aug 06, 2007 03:51 PM  Permalink

Is there any Disester Management Group exist in India or more precisely for Bihar. If there they are for name sake. A group of Minister and top officials . They are good in paper. Sitting in cosy comfort of air condition office discussing the matter in lighter way.On the ground they don't have trained person neither the emergency stock of material needed nor the medical personnel. One thing is very clear we have reputed Mangement institues which are producing the manager of thick salary earner in the name of economy boost of India. But no one is producing manager who can manage efficiently the natural calamity such as flood earth quake etc. The flood occure since time immomorial in Bihar and else where in India but that is left to manage by the local poor people of the area affected. The politician and official add the state department who are busy to make money year after year.

Meet War on Floods year after yr , How ?
by D goel on Aug 06, 2007 03:38 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

PKL.aFTERNOON, 320PM.,MONDAY,5th August , 2007
We fight for small local supremacy be it jobs , cash ,lands and water a little too much. The Idea of Grassroot empowerment has led to decidedly loss of a national perspectives, at least in areas of vital harnessing of collective resources like River-Water , reservoirs , and power -generation or trapping excessive down-pours for water scarce and irrigation needing drying crops and thirsty villages. We are so inured to local politicking and posturing that through out the sub-continet
from Kerala-Karnatak, Tamilnadu or Andhra to Punjab-Haryana or UP and Rajasthana we never shrewdly learn to act cooperatively to make an optimum use of this Monsoon's Bounty in last half a-century of the new India. Things between Rajasthana , MP or Maharashtra ,and elsewhwere ,also are locked in familiar bickering on the sharing benefits,or/ and providing succour to Dam oustees after decades of on going River -Valley projects.National Water ,Power Grids are ideally tomtommed but hardly get past beyond pious intentions , thanks to the narrowminded
localiost intransigence of the small-time political mentality that dominates our grass -roots political class...We need Great Visionaries , like Visheshwariya, KLRao, MN Dustoor and now Ex-President Abdul Kalam to take us out of our squalid ruts.D.Goel

Flood situation
by rediffmad on Aug 06, 2007 03:25 PM  Permalink

Every year it is the same story during monsoon. We see the tragic situation in Bihar, an then the politicians will blame one another to take mileage for their selfish ends. Not a single politician thinks of long term strategy, how to turn the calamity into an opportunity, except our beloved ex-president Shree Abdul Kalam. He still repeats every where that we should have a national river linking so that excess water from areas can be chanellised. No one gives a damn about this idea. Everything is short term for the bunch of politicians. Whenever there is a calamity like this, it is only an opportunity for these soulless set of rulers who can glorify themselves by their gestures of distributing food packets and pidly amounts to the flood victims and soon all is forgotten. The affected people continue to suffer and even severly when there is repeat of the calamity. Then we hear of suicides which again becomes national news and politicians grap the opportunity to bring themselves into limelight. Is it a pity or a shame or Gods will that we Indians should be subjected this kind of treatment by our selfish, mindless and incompetent rulers......

Same Story
by raj kamal on Aug 06, 2007 03:20 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

For Bihar, its the same story year after year...it doesnt matters whome government is ruling the state but one thing is for sure that no one wants to do anything solid to prevent these areas of bihar....if they carry all the flood proof majors here...how they would be eligible for donations from the centre and finally fill their own pockets!!!
so its useless to expect anything from the government..!!! those people who are dying..will continue dying!!

Dear Raj,Root cause for continuous flood in Bihar is excess water release from Nepal which shares most of the rivers coming to the state.Well we cannot blame Nepal either which is doing its best for their own people. There is long pending Dam construction issue for River koshi. It has been negelected by the centre for decades.Who cares? They were busy making Dams in Punjab because they cried most.Ultimately Punjab paid them back with seperate nation demand.Hope state govt of Bihar under Nitish kumar prepares well for next years flood which is bound to happen again.

your are 100/% correct regarding Minister. Because whatever amount should release form center as well as state Govt all should be distribe amonng minister and Govt Officer. Not a single money should be used for flood efected pepole. of course it is money making time for Minister& Govt Employee.
