good comments. Our Congress politicians including PM might be very sad with this news. They may be thinking on announcing a national holiday for the martyr!

Why shocked
by creative deep on Aug 03, 2007 10:28 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

As read in news:
-Kafeel's father was activist of Islamic hadliner "Jamaati Islami" and was supporter of fundamentalism. A son like Kafeel is no surprise in this family
- Kafeel's activities for supporting extremism were well known to his parents relatives and friends.
There parents may be sad but there is no reason to be shocked or surprise by the death of kafeel. This is the kind of end expected to a person like kafeel

My words, creative deep. Since the news of Kafeel's jihadi father came out, our media has only been highlighting Kafeel's mom with pop pushed in the background to drum up sympathy(for only god knows why). Coincidence? I don't think so. It would have been surprising if Kafeel come out a non-jihadi

Kafeel
by ananth nipani on Aug 03, 2007 10:26 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Though he was brilliant, he had a perverted mind, because of indoctrination by terrorist organisations. Government should instruct colleges to keep a watch over such students so that counselling at the right time many reform them, at least some of them. Because of such children parents get a bad name and society looks at all the muslims with suspicion.

Hi Ananth. You said a good solution which works in country like Australia which don't take any chance. The bloody Indian Law & Vote Bank politics won't allow us to get better. Otherwise Govt with the support of Intelligence agencies and RAW could have taken severe measures to control the spreading of terror doctrines and holy Jihad promotions. India is one of the most complicated countries in the world where there is a remote chance of good practice & Law implementation. May God save the screwd up nation. India really needs a good Kingdom rule or Good Military rule to clear up the system

Why??
by AAA AAA on Aug 03, 2007 10:25 AM  Permalink

The mother has each and every reason to grieve, but in the process she can not ignore the fact that he was an enemy of Humanitarianism. He might have sacrificed his life for the holy cause of JIHAD ( according to a hardliner's interpretation) and the HOOR might be waiting for him in JANNAT, but he was a terrorist.

Similarly I can recall a guy ( not able to recall his name) student of Civil Engineering at R.E.C. Calicut (now NIT) during 1991-95, was also a hard liner. He would praise and preach ISlam all the time and used to clap and celebrate the Pak Cricket team's win over India.

I will really not be surprised if that well educated Civil Engineer is also found (in future) in any of such activity.

PhD in 2 months
by SK on Aug 03, 2007 10:24 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The article says Kafeel had a PhD from UK. Later it says he reached UK only in May 2007. A PhD in just two months? And that too part-time, as his main activity was obviously bomb-making and planning the terror strike.

Correct me if I am wrong, but rediff it seems has gone bonkers.

The article is well written. Please note that it is not principle of college as you have written ;it is Principal of college. This sort of mistake is not expected from journalists.

Why ...he was a terrorist
by Gigy MathewBiju on Aug 03, 2007 10:11 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

As a mother my condolenses to you. But you must not ignore that fact that he is a terrorist, who tried to kill many people for no reason. Haneef has also come home amid much fanfare but I am sure he is also an willing participant, at least to the point of being aware, and not clean as made out to be. Media and people will do go if they dont rally after him and give him a "hero" image. Remember, he has only gotten away coz of lack of evidence. He was just lucky. I hope the law catches up with him.

All Indians, especially radicals, should be scanned and those with doubtable credentials should be taken to task.

Once identified, the so called terrorists will be glorified as jihadis fighting a holy war against kafirs and infidels. Islam does not recognize or condone terrorism.
