NREGA implementation
by jisha nil on Apr 01, 2008 04:49 PM  Permalink

As far as the programme can be implemented with the support of people,it can withstand the pressures..what is essential is the community sensitisation and effective planning by local people with the fore sight of creating income generating assets for longer run and self reliance

What is needed is a self reliance not govt. dependence
by Sincere Citizen on Aug 08, 2007 04:49 PM  Permalink

Once again a scheme which can be a boon for corrupt to siphon off funds. Such schemes have been launched time and again and every single time in past the funds got siphoned off by corrupt. The Congress people will get rich.
There is a sire need to have a rural economy based on agriculture ,agro based products and non-conventional energy sources.
When the people in rural India can start and run their business they will be able to sustain themselves instead on depending on such dubious schemes of corrupt leaders.
There are so many possibilities, generating biogas, solar energy, compost fertilizer, making ethanol/biodiesel. Organic farm products.
Our farmers have been fooled into using pesticides and chemical fertilizers and thus making them dependant on factories like RCF while in turn the quality of crops has gone down drastically.

Great Project
by indiman on Aug 05, 2007 10:58 PM  Permalink

This is a great project. In India all the growth is happening in urban areas and thr rural world is being left behind for only one reason. No infrastructure to support big companies. If we had three lane, highways, water supply, roadlinks to ports, companies will go rural areas. But this is not happening, so we need projects like these. On a note about Tirunelveli district- They get the least amount of rainfall in tamilnadu but are the third highest grain producting state and it is very green all over. This is because they have developed innovative ways to develop the rain watershedding areas. If the other districts in tamilnadu can reciprocate this then they can stop asking for water from the rivers that start from neighbouring states. Many districts in India which are deficient should take tirunelvelis example in devlop watersheds. We have enoough rain in India we just dont know how to harness them.

boon for rural jobless
by Bodh Ramdeo on Aug 05, 2007 08:41 PM  Permalink

Who's going to verify whether the 'employment' actually goes to the poor clod-hopper rather than the relatives and cronies of those in charge of the scam, ahem...I meant scheme.
Chances are, down the road, the roster will be full of ghost workers and beneficiaries, not to mention the number of people ending up dead - think of the thousands of Rs 25,000 that will be paid out for these demised bogus workers.
Rather than waste taxpayers monies, govt should change farm laws, labor laws and land laws - only this will give a fillip to rural development and employment, not pretend work for pretend pay.

Oh no .........not again
by Ankita Gupta on Aug 05, 2007 06:58 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Since my child hood, and may be independence, Congress and its primeministers have come with one or the other programme(garibi hatao, desh ko 21 century mein le jayenge etc) for removal of poverty or ensuring the employment/upliftment of rural India, but the IRONY is that for almost all of the years of independence, Congress has ruled India and still the rural India is miles away from prosperity. Why so?
Because,

1.Its the Congress which does less and cries most.

2.Its the Congress which through corruption dont let the benefits reach the poors.

3.Its the Congress which has least political will power the uplift the poors of rural India.

4.Its the Congress which makes such act/programme to gain cheap popularity.

In fact this is Congress because of which this India is in mess.
