With the Congress about to confirm its position as a has been in UP - never mind Raul Maino Gandhi's fulminations - it seems the author is trying to create grounds for a backdoor power sharing arrangment with Mayawati, for 10 janpath. Keep dreaming, pal. Jaganniwas Iyer
The above article points to only one thing that it is the caste factor which gives you vote in UP. It is most unfortunate that the people of the state dont want to see the credentials of any other candidate or individual. Everybody here just plays the caste factor. If this continues the state of UP will continue to suffer unless the people start voting for the right candidate instead of the right caste factor

In India, parents covertly teach their children to coerce other children as per the caste hierarchies.

Why? and how the caste became so UNFORTUNATE to you Mr. Khandelwal. For centuries it has been very near and dear to you and the caste Hindus, and have always fortunate too. Just because the lower castes are awakening now, so the caste becomes unfortunate?

People have tried the so called secular parties for years, then came the party with communal agenda. So better to vote for caste based parties, the lesser of evils.
All the talks about BSP being invinsible compared to other parties will be shattered in this elections. The upper caste will not vote the party and dalits will run away when they realize their clout is being reduced in the framework of the party as only 90 out of 400 candidates contesting on behalf of BSP are dalits. Mayawati is smart, but to only that extent.
Mayawati has 22% captive votes of Dalits(?) and with 50% of brahmin votes(12%)she is bound to win hands down. It is the faith of people, from some of the sheduled castes, who feel they have got a voice in Mayawati that helps her garner their votes. But the mafias and the other third rate persons who are contesing on many BSP tickets will doom her sooner than one thinks. Brahmins have been rulers by proxy. As advisers to kings they called shots. By proping Mayawati to power Brahmin will be on centre stage again. But the irony is that Brahmin is known for renunciation(Tyag) and that is his strength. The society has come to this state as brahmins have shed their basic traits of teaching and renunciation. She is as corrupt as others. But she is alone while Mulayam has whole family to loot.

Brahmins have always come out to save India. this time they have comeout with BSP, with a purpose. Brahmins will only bring kranti in India when the India will shine and be great. that will happen only when every section of the indian society is equally participating in its develolment without the feeling of low or high or hatered among fellow citizens. Brahmins have now taken the lead again in showing the way to the motherland. when Dalits & brahmins sit together positive changes will emerge.

Dear Samunder, In Tamil Nadu, the Dravidian parties, riding high on 'anti-brahmin', anti-Hindi, pro-tamil campaign, captured the imagination of the vulnarable voters in the 1960s, and captured power from Congress. Since then Congress couldnot get back to power. It is either DMK or AIADMK in T.Nadu, with a cluster of smaller parties supporting them.
Brahmins,in Tamil Nadu, do not get any protection from the ruling Govts repeatedly, be it in education, employment, or in anyother walks of life, however meritories they may be. It is the State which has spearheaded the reservation campaign to start with. Brahmins, who have given their traditional lands on leasehold basis to others for cultivation, were given a raw deal. The cultivators either dont give anything at all, or give them pea-nuts, as all laws are supportive to them. The poor Brahmins even are unable to sell their lands, as the cultivators are asking at a throw away price! In desperation, the Brahmins, have more or less vacated Tamil Nadu to other places, like Bombay, Delhi, and to the US. You will find Tamil Brahmins happily settled in Mumbai (Chembur for example, Karolbagh, Janakpuri in Delhi). From my own family many qualified people have gone and settled down in the US. They are doing extremely well in Science, Software, Space Research, Engineering sectors in the US. They are enjoying better treatment and quality of life in these States, and also in the US. Tamil Nadu's loss is the gain for others. You will recall once upon a time T.Nadu use to give more number of IAS Officers to the country, and today you can see what is the reality. You go to any Govt Office, unless you make payment to the Red & Black border dhoties wearing Clerk, it is very difficult to get your things done. This is the result of systematic annihiliation of Brahmins in the State. Huge temples in Tamil Nadu have lot of movable and immovable properties. The Dravidian parties have changed laws in support of those people who cultivate/enjoy these properties, with the result they don't give anything at all in return to these temples. The result is even temples with lot of properties/lands, etc struggle to maintain themselves. To add to the insult, party people have been appointed to the Temple Management Committee. These people, instead of managing the temples as a sacred one, keeping them in good shape, preserving these centuries old temples so that people can get solace from God, etc. are using them as a source of income for them, and their supporters and parties.
The Brahmins should thank the Dravidian parties to drive them away from T.Nadu, so that they are now having a better quality of life elsewhere.

and they want reservation in higher studies...why...?OBC/SC/ST get aid/reservation etc to do their graduation...fine...they are provided with all the opportunities to compete meritoriously to get into higher studies...why do they need reservation agian...
why blame students who go to US/UK to pursue higher studies/research...afterall we discriminate the talented ones in the name of reservation...also we make reservation in employment too...so they settle for well paid reservation free jobs abroad...

No doubt QUEEN of BHARATH will rule UP. whether the voting pattern is inclusive or exclusive nature , that matters to decide future of Bharath. if Brahmins doesnot vote for BSP then BSP do not get full majority and it shows Dwijas are not thinking beyond Manu policy. which surely hurt Dalits and dalits will not support integrity of the nation. so, upper caste people must vote for BSP and set as precedent to other states also.

Why do you beleive brahmin should vote for BSP is it a crime to support any other party which can take care of inflamation and terrorism which has impacted all our lives. Why cant Mayavati ask vote on issues conserning all us us not just dalits , I would say instead of hoping to get votes from muslims she should sopport hindu cause and get vote from all section of hindus she will win hands down. If she can support hindu cause she will replace BJP very fast.

dear freind bsp is a means and not an end basic funda of bsp is to annhilate caste make strong bharath with equality , fraternity and liberty rooling the roost.
At present, Mayawait/BSP is the most inclusive party in UP. Not only she has given tickets to all the sections of society, she has also announced the policies for the betterment all the sections of society. Although Mulayam came to power by luring Muslims, his government only worked for Yadavs. All jobs, contracts went to yadavs. His goonda family and followers had a free run during his tenure, doing maa-behan of law and order.
All other things being equal, Mayawati is a better bet for a safer UP. Dalits have blind faith in her, and she is also supposed to keep the betterment of dalits at a higher priority. By including other sections in a party which had such a strong dalit ideology, Mayawati has shown flexibility and its should be welcomed. Had other sections of society been flexible and accomodating towards dalits, there was no need have a BSP or Mayawati. She probably will make a govt. with congress or BJP support. Last time even some of the dalit MPs betrayed her. The big question is will her MPs, who will be non-dalits and from higher caste desert her in the middle. If they do they will fail this experiment which shows a spark of hope for reconciliation of our increasingly divided society.

Dear Gautam, U r misinformed that Mayawati is leader of Dalits. On one hand u sayDalits have blind faith in her, on the other hand u admit that dalit MPs betrayed her.Largest no of Dalit MPs are from Samajwadi Party.Let us not divide society on caste lines!Be polite n realistic and not emotional.
