Do you know, CJI K G Balakrishnan belongs to the SC Category?

Do you know, CJI K G Balakrishnan belongs to the SC Category?

I am not saying anything, but is this a fair trial? Arjun is very confident that CJI would deliver. And he already delivered, advancing the hearing by 3 months.

Don't try to demean the ofice of CJI.He is a person of high integrity & only truth will prevail in Supreme Court. We should also take a holistic view of this matter & reservation without creamy layer & with proper data to support for economically weaker sections is a ok idea.

Quit India Movememt - Part 2
by abcd abcd on Apr 25, 2007 05:34 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

At the end of the day, India is still the country that gives us ample opportunity to feel ashamed about ourselves as Indians. Very little has been done lately by our rulers to make us feel prowd.

People have all the time and energy for vandalism when Valentine's day is being celebrated or Richard Gere kisses Shilpa Shetty. Where were all those people when daughters of my country were murdered in the name of dowry? Who's effigy were they burning when our farmers committed suicide?

I often wonder who is it, that the young javan spills his blood for? Why don't we have reservations in the military where most of the officers are upper caste? Why should they sacrifice their future for a country that is hell bent on making sure that their kids compete only for the half the resources. It begs the question, is it even worth it? The way it is being worked out, it seems as though with reservations the only place left for the general category is in the military. This way when the Pakistanis come to kill us, only 'General Category' blood is spilt while 'Reserved Categotry' carries on with their corruption in government jobs and gets fat. (General JJSingh, Admiral Mehta and Air Marshal Major: I really respect you a lot but do you really think that the people you and your organizations dedicate your lives for, care about your future? What kind of a country are you trying to protect?; Doctor Kalam: You are my hero, but can you really shut Arjun Singh up? Do you really believe in the people that run your government?)

All those upholders of Indian culture need to be reminded that culture is not what our elders told us about. Culture is what defines and guides our life. If the men in our streets whistle at women, that's our culture. If we go about killing each other at the slightest sign of provocation, that's our culture. Who the hell cares what Rama did or where the temple stands if the ordinary people cannot get basic education and health care. All that money wasted on building mandirs and masjids or on Haj subsidies would rather be used to set up a new IIT or hospital.

For all those who believe that merit is the only decider, let me remind you that India has already disowned us. We really need to ask ourselves the question: Should I be paying my taxes to the Govt. of Inida so that its politicians can suck them out and celebrate their kids bithdays? Even if they were feeding hungry mouths, are these not mouths that spat on us in the first place? Instead, we are better off becoming citizens of another country where you will be judged on the basis of your skills. Where your taxes go towards your medicare when you grow older. The World Bank has made great predictions for India so you need not worry. Our future is what needs attention. India has already disowned us and does not care about us. At least we should therefore worry about our own future to prevent the "brain in the drain". As 'General Category' and middle class, we are already second class citizens in our own country. Might as well be second class citizens with wealth. It is time for us to leave India behind and build a new mother land; just like our ancestors once came to this country to make it their home. One is going to be way happier by moving to the US/UK and boasting about India's rich heritage rather than live in India and experiencing its atrophy. It is almost like we need to start another Quit India movement for those who believe in merit as success (or access to resources) seems to be more dependent on which woumb we slithered out of.

Not the time to quit India but to 'Free india' of the corrupt politicians. The clarion call has been sounded, the war is on, and they know that if merit is allowed to prevail for another 5 years these lumpen louts will lose their position forever...So FIGHT ON.

DMK, the curse of TN
by srinivasan srivatsan on Apr 24, 2007 09:11 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I'm from tamilnadu and i'm of the firm opinion that DMK is TN's curse. They have been the most successfull party in dividing the state by the name of caste.
Being a brahmin I should admit that, brahmins had their days and they did treat people indifferently for which they must pay the price. However the fact is that now, DMK other than anti-brahmin propaganda are now trying to create a new flare by dividing the state communally (based on religion) which in my opinion is the most dangerous thing to do.
I feel very sad to see how the state looks. Great leaders like Kamaraj had a vision for the country and state. All those dreams have just been burnt. We now have leaders like karunanidhi, ramdass, stalin and so on. Leadership, I just can't see it in any of them. May be that's just me!
I've heard a lot of people comment that TN has an aversion towards hindi. I seriously cannot argue against this, because certain incidents make it look very obvious. I'll try to put things in the right perspective. In my opinion every state in india has to comply to the national language, which does'nt mean that every person must know hindi. However considering the fact that tamil & sanskrit are the oldest languages in india, TN people have flair for tamil, the right to choose is still left to the individual. Trying to promote your native language in your own state, if this is wrong then God Forbid.
When it comes to reservation, the current reservation policy of 69% is being used by the son's and daughter of millionares. This reservation is driving FC people to get fake certificates to show them as an OBC. This is not only in TN, this is the fate of our country.

Srinivasan,

I am surprised to see a Tamilan writing that he couldn't put things in the right perspective when it comes to our aversion towards Hindi. It has more to do with your inability and lack of knowledge and has nothing to do with the anti-Hindi movement in 1960s.
When ever you are questioned about your aversion towards Hindi - your first question should be why should there be an attachment? Next is about the respect to our National Language. First you need to make them understand (you also should understand) that HINDI IS NOT NOT NOT our National Language. Hindi and English are just the Official Languages of our Central Government. I am sure 99.99999 percent of North Indians would reply that Hindi is our national language when u ask them what is our national language. Ask them to first read our constitution and then come to us. I have seen some cases where these people would question our patriotism just because we didn%u2019t learn the 'National Language'. In fact it should be us who shld be questioning their patriotism because they haven%u2019t read our constitution. Ask them to give you one good reason to learn Hindi. The same reason would surely hold good for them to learn Tamil or Telgu or Malayalam or Assamese.
Linking the Single Language policy and Patriotism has nothing to do with our aversion to Hindi - but has a lot to do with their immaturity.
We should feel proud of our ethnic and linguistic diversity.

Hope it clears your doubts.

Thanks,
Venkatesh.

The SC will tackle this tainted eye charracter while dealing with reservation issue next month against his govt for exceeding the limit of 50%.Don't be surprised if he roll back 69% on getting advese ruling to save his govt.

I dont think he would roll back fearing contempt of court. The vote-bank fear is more powerful than the fear for SC. More over not implementing SC rulings is not new to state governments in India.
E.g. MullaiPeriyar Case, Cavery Water Dispute Case etc.

TN PARTIES ALWAYS NOT INTERESTED TO COME ON MAINSTREAM INDIA
by wani bhardwaj on Apr 24, 2007 07:12 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

TN parties are the only parties in India who are not interested to come into the national mainstream and they are the only parties who opposed to spread Hindi and allow to study Hindi in their schools and they are opposing Hindi and Hindi language as national shame and but spread foreign language English instead of of Hindi. The reservation policies adopted by the Tamil Nadu political parties and Indian major political parties are unpatriotic which is aimed at dividing this country into castist level and SC's proper and immediate intervention is needed because the leaders of these political parties adamant to obey the court instructions and wanted to implement their own agenda for their own vote bank politics. We can understand communist parties anger, because they had never interested in election politics and democracy, but impose their own wishes on people and make Nandigram type atrocties on the protestors. The threats given by the political parties to be taken as CONTEMPT OF COURT and strong actions should be taken against these political leaders, before they creates law and order problem in their own states.

Yes - just because of that only (Supporting English and opposing Hindi) - many people in TN got into MNCs (in Bangalore/Hyderabad and Chennai) with their English knowledge. Otherwise the situation would have become very serious b'coz of a much worser unemployment problem - as it is in UP and Bihar (In Bihar - they gave importance to Hindi and disregarded their mother languages like Bhojpuri which are dying).

It doesn't mean that Govt. can do whatever they want even if it is illegal and against Constitution of India. See the Internal Emergency declared by late Indira Nehru when Honourble Court cancelled her election on the case filed by late Raj Narayan. Your 'm' is creating confusion and suspicion on the minds of readers and please come on your original name as it feel that you are afraid to reveal your name in public.

whose money is parliament squandering in passing bogus bills? Parliament is supreme is a hollow statement. most of them are corrupt and have criminal cases against them and are elected by no more than 15% vote in favor which means that these are also the 'rejected representatives'
