ChIndia, US, EU
by Vitthal Sawant on Apr 12, 2007 02:20 PM  Permalink

India should develope friendly relations with China and should resolve all border related issues with China, except border issues (gift from british empire) we do not have any other major issues beteeen China and India. Economicaly and militarily strong Asian friends will attract Arab and muslim world. Terrorists will keep US and EU busy on war on terrorism, and will also drain their strength.

MOREOVER, AS BEING CHRISTIAN THEY ARE WELL AWARE OF INDIAN POLITICAL PARTIES WHICH ARE SAME LIKE TALIBAN BUT HINDU TALIBAN..U CAN UNDERSTAND WHAT I MEAN..

America always think in their national interest, when Russia was threat to them they helped pakistan to train terrorists to counter russian threat, now they r scared by possible threat from china, and they will help India to counter chinese threat (we have helped US at the time of Tibet problem). pakistan will leave US and join china, but when relations between china and india improves, pakistan will again join US (if it exists, US will try to destabilize pakistan for its support to terrorists).

Please take off the blinkers
by Narendra Tade on Apr 12, 2007 01:35 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

While reding the article of Choksi and Thakur I was developing an impression that these two gentlemen think that the world is made of America and India only, while reading the footnote to the article about their credentials - my impression converted to conviction.

Firstly, India is viewed in the west as an emerging market of the third world, no developed nation holds India as any kind of military power, worth a mention.

Secondly, the entire Europe, including most democrats of London are sick and tired of America's war-games (Re: France didn't even bother to participate in Iraq). The world is aware that most problems in the Middle East started from seedlings planted by the US ( Re: Osama Bin Laden) and last week CNN-West Europe went overboard in explaining that the first Nuclear Reactor of Iran was given by US during Eisenhower's presidency - though now Mr Bush is jumping around to pull down Iran's nuclear program. ( Though history tells us that Iran (read Persia) was the only superpower of the world when America was nowhere and the Greek and Roman empires were in infancy).

In view of this, I don't forsee any genuine role of America in world peace, since they are busy trying to consolidate their position behind every public move towards peace....and please don't bring India into this because India is yet to be recognised seriously in the west, as a military power and even if India is considered a power someday - we should not get into the squabbles between US and the Arab world....since both are equally civilized in their dealings....and are capable of demolishing the other, without India's intervention.

Dear frnd... u r seriously misunderstood about India's military power. I agree that India is still an undeveloped nation. But as far as military ranking is concerened, India is 4th behind US, Russia, and China. Followed by India it is Germany on 5th and France on 6th. India has 2nd largest standing Army and 4th largest Airforce and 7th largest navy in the world!! You dont have to believe me, you can go to globerlfirepower.com to check this figures... and ofcourse its not an Indian site!!! Remember India did its first nuclear experiment in 1974!!! India has demonstrated Hydrogen nuclear weapons which is 100s of times severe than what was used in Hiroshima. Also India has developed its own super computer Param, which can be used for nuclear simulations and remeber only 3 or 4 countries in the world has developed super computer. So being Indian, atleast be aware of what we are!!!

I am glad to know that we are also one of the humble powers working for the world betterment.
If you don't have power (like own job), even your husband don't hesitate to stuff something in your mouth.

Dear Jiji,

The standing army or navy or the number of airplanes mean very little in the international power balance - the power in international arena means the power to mobilise - however that will take sometime for you to comprehend.

A small nation like Israel or France or UK can mobilize 10 times the power that India can - in international politics that is called power. Just 15 British marines being arrested for a week can turn round the world and hundreds of Indian soldiers are in Pakistani prison and we can't even touch a hair of Pakistan - I am writing this with more than 20 years of working with the Indian military and foreign office

Being Indian dosen't necessarily mean being imprudent, just grow up.

Dear Narendra,
The ranking which I mentioned is not just based on no of army or no of ships or no of aircrafts. it also includes the size of economy, gold reserve etc etc.
I hav not worked with any military or foreign office. But I hav been following world politics closely since childhood and I talk based on the facts. Pls go and see how many UK marines are killed (not arrested), every month in Afghan and Iraq. Incase of Israel, its not showing its power.. it is just fighting for survival. But of course they have a fine aerospace and radar technology. Also they have best commandows in the world. But this is not enough to be powerful. Now I will state some examples to show India's recognisation in the world..
India is a hot contender for a UN permanent security counsil seat for any future expansion. This is not just India's claim... out of 5 powerful nations, 4 has already given the open support to India. (Russia, France, Britain and China.) US is the only one in half mind.
India and China are always the special invitees for annual meetings of EU and G8 Industrial nations group.
India has its own space technology which is the best after US, Russia, EU and China.
The EU is working on the development of a Fusion nuclear power technology with 4 selected nations who are the best in technology and they are US, Russia, Japan and India!!! And each country has to put $1 billion in to the project!
All of the worlds best defense equipment builders are queing up in India to grab the huge defense purchase orders from India. And India is in such a strong position in negotiation that we can easily demand a technology transfer and many companies are even ready for that. This is not offered to many countries.
I have been living in Europe for 3 years now and I know what is the feeling of west towards India now. Dear friend... a lot has changed since last 15 years!!

problems of India
by sai on Apr 12, 2007 01:27 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

India has problems because of muslims and christians not because of hindus..no country has problem because of the majorities..its only when minority appeasement starts will there be problems.
Tamil nadu-christians
kerala-muslims and christians
karnataka- tamil nadu and muslims
Andhra pradesh-muslims and telangana i.e again a muslim kingdom.
Maharashtra-muslims
J&k-paki muslims
nagaland,mizoram etc-christians
assam-bangladeshi muslims
U.p-muslims
Bengal-christians and muslims

States which have fought or have been fighting for independence have been doing this because of the minority (these are only a fraction of the muslims christians or sikhs)anti-hindu people.J&K,punjab,nagaland,assam--- next but surely coming is Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu is going to be the next state which is going to fight for independence, which is clear from its politics,anti-hindu feelings.

Tamil Nadu has a long history of separatism and anti-Hindu feeling as well as hostility to India, which is guised in terms like "control of northies" and "Brahmanism." That is why all US evangelical organisations have their HQ in chennai where they feel safe.

India - Pride and Honour
by Bipin Menon on Apr 12, 2007 12:52 PM  Permalink

India is our pride and honour and as the citizen of this great Nation we should looking at how we can make this country stable and secure. Our road should to be towards making India a super power, militarily but not to strike terror, but to keep the terror groups from outside and inside at bay, economically super power, political, any way. We need not ride piggy back on US, Russia or anyone, we should have stand of our own and not take for a ride. For all this, first we need people who know how to and what they can do and we should elect people who can lead us to it, not corrupt, illiterate, criminals etc to run our country.

Lastly, lets not give up the idea, the growth story is intact, a few particular instance does not show how Indians are, we are people with big heart, let someone show that, MEDIA can help in changing that image than publising cheap news articles causing tensions in the hearts and minds of the people.

yep ,

you are right .as long as asians think only about religion and forget that they all belong to the same stock they will reamin weak and cannot progress. This is true with respect to arabs , indians (bangaldesh, pakisthan) .Arabs aand indians with pakisthanies are very similiar in almost any respect expect for their religious differences.if they leave their religious differences and think on the same length then no other country can make use of them .they will also get africa as their friends in their endeveaour .will they do it ?? not till the next millinium ???

Isolate India from what is happening around the world for 50 yrs then that is enough too create asuper power. Both the civilizations will clash leaving the neutrals as superpowers.I think no real development is even required in this period.

Indian Democracy
by mvskumar on Apr 12, 2007 12:16 PM  Permalink

Many people are talking that, US & India should work together for world peace, since both countries are democracies. First of all, how can u call India is a democratic country. Here lot of political and poll violence. People are not voting fearless. Some people are afraid to come to polling booths. Further, lot of cast based resevation and there is no equality. Here merit is not recognised. Hence, doubt about India being called a democratic country.
