Let us stop hero -worshipping
by prabhakaran natesan on Apr 12, 2007 10:09 AM  Permalink

Kalam or Murthy, let us not resort to hero worshipping. Blindly following the present day leaders will be very dangerous. Unfortunately God has stopped sending people like the Mahatma to our country long time back

Narayana Murthy A Disgrace
by Naveen Babu on Apr 12, 2007 10:02 AM  Permalink

For a question raised by one the answer to that was FANTASIC, does it really mean that Mr.Kalam wants Murthy to be the president or not is unclear.
Infosys has less than 20percent of Kannidigas in the technical stream, when he was asked why is it so then his complaint was lack of technical skills of kannadigas, he didnt had the answer for why then even in non technical(house keeping, Canteen etc) kannadigas are less then 20 percent.
Infosys celebrated 25 years some days back...he didnt had a single word of appreciation for the state or for the country which has given him all the resources and subsidies, rather he had only complaints against everything.
Bangalore is a happening city and it is growing at a very fast rate, one of the fastest in the world, even then the system has not collapsed either in terms of power, water, law and order etc still it is considered as a safe and peace loving place in India except for some stray incidents.
What has Murthy done for all his endless complaints, he has threatened/blackmailed all the governments to get the land and other resources(remember boycotting IT.com etc)
My questions to Murthy are:
1. How much of employment has been generated to the state?
2. His contribution to the state?
3. A single product like of Microsoft that we can boast of?
None of this has any answers rather more pubs and bars where opened and the living cost has reached sky-high.
If can really help the people/government not by lending money(remember he donated money for the earth quake victims of Jammu and Kashmir and when he came under criticism by many they donated money for the North Karnataka's mother nature fury which happened much earlier than earth quake, this is because he knows well that by donating to Jammu and Kashmir the news will be all over the world and by donating to Karnataka it becomes news only in Karnataka.).
He is no good than a robber who uses all the resources for his own good only and make the rest poorer.
All the kannadigas wake up and reflect to all the selfish activities he has done, other wise whole India has to face the consequences of this selfish act.
Above all he is more concerned about Foreign Trainees uneasiness than our National Anthem.

NRN Murthy as next Prez of India
by sherlock holmes on Apr 12, 2007 07:54 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I am afraid as Prez he would be able to contribute anything for the betterment of the Country as in Indian system Prez has now powers to exercise, unlike US Prez. An able administrator can only function if he is adequately empowered. If in our present system he can be PM he might be able to contribute something that too depending upon how much our vote bank hungry politicians would allow him to do.

Avinash Sethi, New Delhi.

Your first sentence is right, he will not be able to contribute anything to the Country as he did nothing for Karnataka state. He has only endless complaints for the state and no solutions, if I am right softare's main aim is Solution providers and he has only compaints and no solutions. WORST pres. if he is made so.

Till date.....
by chinmoy chatterjee on Apr 12, 2007 01:20 AM  Permalink

Till date I hv not found any prez, who tried for
the betterment of the country.I dont think attending some social functions or a few lectures are the job for the post of Prez/PM.
Prez post,- if it is really rqrd then shd be elected by the common people of the country not
by the politicians.
And the same system is required for the post of PM also.
Otherwise the problems will continue with rapid growth.

Kalam is the best choice to be Prez. again !
by saikrishna kondaraju on Apr 11, 2007 09:14 PM  Permalink

Narayana Murthy is not fit to hold the highest office. Especially after his remarks against singing National Anthem. What kind of an Idiot will be shy or embarrassed to sing National Anthem in his own country ?
Let's stop hyping Mr.Murthy - he is a businessman who is interested in making money. REDIFF - Please stop hyping Mr.Murthy or for that matter any businessman.
Iam all for Kalam being the President for another 5 years.
I salute A.P.J. Kalam for his leadership and patriotism.

Narayana Murthy as Prez

Notwithstanding his alleged remarks on the National Anthem, which I am yet to see, it will be wonderful if persons of Narayana Murthy's mettle become the President of the Republic. Ideally the President should be a non-political person so that no one can charge him of bias as we had seen in the past several occasions. When Dr. Kalam became the President many wondered how he is going to manage the show. But history has before us that the republic has had one of the finest persons in Kalam as the President. A totally no nonsense person.

Definite NO to an anti-patriotic Narayana Murthy - See this article about NRN in BBC
by Behappy on Apr 11, 2007 07:02 PM  Permalink

The founder of one of India's leading technology companies has apologised after being accused of making rude comments about the national anthem.

NR Narayana Murthy, the founder of Infosys Technologies, said at a function on Sunday that the anthem would "embarrass foreigners".

The function was presided over by President ABJ Abdul Kalam at the company's sprawling Mysore facility.

His comments drew strong criticism from politicians in the state of Karnataka.

Mr Murthy said that he "deeply apologised" if an answer he gave to a media question during the course of President Kalam's recent visit to the Infosys Mysore campus caused any offence.

The Infosys founder was asked why only an instrumental version of the Indian national anthem was played during the president's visit.

He replied that singing the national anthem would have "embarrassed" company employees of foreign origin.

His comments drew strong criticism from the right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Karnataka, who raised the issue during proceedings in the state assembly.

In a statement released afterwards, Mr Murthy said that he decided that only an instrumental version of the national anthem should be played so that everyone could choose whether or not to sing along.

"We wished to share the pride of being an Indian in the gracious presence of our President. We are informed that this is as per protocol," the statement said.

"If the media statement has hurt anybody's sentiments, I deeply apologise."

"We have always kept the interest of India foremost in our minds and our work speaks for itself.

We are a proud Indian company, with strong universal ethos of transparency, accountability and honesty.

"It has always been our endeavour to represent India with the highest standards of respect and enable it to take its rightful place in the world economy," the non-executive chairman of the NASDAQ listed company said in the statement released on Tuesday.
