Dr Kalam and NM : Will be positioned as ''Rubber Stamps'' of constitution
by raj chander on Apr 09, 2007 06:20 PM  Permalink

Materialization of the dream matters a lot.....Narayanamurthy and Dr.Kalam are capable enough for generating ideas to put India in the forefront. But... are they be given full powers to materialize it... absolutely not..Our revered politicians will not.....But they can be a very good rubber stamp at the president's office. Ha Ha Ha

Who should be the Next Supreme Commander of Armed forces.
by ebrahim jakkiriya on Apr 09, 2007 06:14 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Frankly speaking, Dr. APJ Kalam should be reconsidered for second term. Mr. Narayana Murthy may be a good choice but he may not rose to level of APJK

President Of India
by Gaurav on Apr 09, 2007 06:13 PM  Permalink

Unlike United States, where President is a top authority, in India's Parliamentary form of Govt. President has "Nil" power. He is actually reduced to a mere decorative puppet and has no say. He does what the ruling center Govt. wants to do. In fact his freedom or his independent speaking ability is taken away, once he becomes President. The example is in front of us, our current president "a man of science" and wisdom, his advises or requests were never heard by the Govt. So, my view is Mr. Murthy should not become President. We can hear him better without presidential post.
Conclusion: A Good Man, cannot do or exercise his views when he becomes President (The Govt. does not let him do, through the provisions of constitution)

NM is man of integrity and have good image.May be Right Choice Provided DR KALAM does not continue.BUT our politician like DEOGOWDA will not like and support NM bcoz of honesty of NM. His honesty may be disqualification in the eyes of POLITICIAN. DR KALAM AND DR SINGH (pm) SHOULD TAKE INITIATIVE in this regard

Let's use Murthy in a better profile.
by Rupali Mehta on Apr 09, 2007 06:13 PM  Permalink

As such, President's post in our country is that of a rubber stamp. What has Mr. Kalam done in his entire tenure? He's been sitting on Afzal's mercy plea for almost 6 months now???? A talent like Mr. Murthy's should be utilised for active politics, for e.g. Finance Minister, Infrastructure & Development Minister, Foreign Minister or maybe PM, but President, no way...this will mean clipping the wings of his knowledge and talent and making him look like a sitting duck doing nothing.

best choice
by somen choudhury on Apr 09, 2007 06:12 PM  Permalink

Mr. T.N. Session(former EC) would be the best.

Mr. NRN or Dr. APJA Kalam are also fit.

Carrot on a stick
by Celine on Apr 09, 2007 06:09 PM  Permalink

Kalam gave a carrot on a stick which his vision 2020. As a president there is NOTHING revolutionary he has done or brought about as a change in India. All that is there is his achievements as a scientist. Neither will Murthy be able to achieve anything as all that he has done socially is his cribbing about infrastructure, because it hurts his business interest. It's time we have some 'real men' who can wield a stick and show less a carrot.

Surely, a not convincing thought!
by Omprakash Ramamoorthy on Apr 09, 2007 06:08 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Shri.NRN Moorthy does not stand any close to the earlier Presidents, leave along Shri. ABJ Kalam. We need someone of Dr.ABJ Kalam's stature with courage and determination like Shri. T.N.Seshan, our Ex.CEC of India. We need someone who can bring in Accountability and Cleanliness in our Political System [there is actually no system exists] and do justice to the Citizens of this great Nation. He should have done something substantially to the Society outside his Posh Compound / Offices. Many in the Society should remember him outside his business houses. The group of followers / community should also display the above qualities in the Social System.

It is not convincing that Shri.NRN Murthy, Infosys and its Employees deserve this thought and it will prove that our Country continue to live in Darkness where prosperity is only for the Rulers and its Associates. Even for a Berth Certificate in this country, one needs to give 300% bribe to the concerned Employee of the Govt. Corporation Offices. The Bribes start right there for every citizen of this country. The responsible Govt. Clerk gets around Rs.6,000 a month where as the Entry level Software engineer of Infosys gets around Rs.20,000 and an MBA/IIM at Infosys gets around Rs.2,00,000 a month. The entire Infosys Establishment hardly have time to think about the rest of the People of this Country who are eagerly awaiting a Promising Sun Rise in this Country for years since Independence. I do not think, they even know there is a world outside their Posh Office / Apartments / Houses / Pubs / Cinema theatres / Family tours to Abroad / Air conditioned Cars with rich interiors (They buy only foreign branded cars as against Indian ones), Posh Schools for their children, Food Worlds [They never buy in smaller shops which is insulting to their stature] and of course heavy Bank Accounts. It is shame to even think, the Mentor of this entire selfish group is being thought for the President%u2019s Office.

Dear Editor, please bring in names of deserving candidates for the Highest Office of this Country.
