Even a casual glance at what passes for messages on any of rediff's many message boards is enough to convince any lay reader (halfway sensible) of the utter futility of it all. The issue could be just about any and the cause could be either grave or celebratory, but you can be pretty certain that most of the comments will be downright moronic and abusive. Groups of people will be going at each other's religion, caste or beliefs with venom and ferocity that is most unbecoming and more or less unintelligible.
That Rediff allows such gibberish to be spewed day in and day out does not frankly say much about the portal and in no way enhances its reputation as a thinking person's website. It's like announcing to all and sundry: come dearies, vent your prejudices, display your ignorance and well, have a field day!
Don't believe me? Check out the level of comments on a topic as somber as an earthquake in Pakistan. You may be mistaken for thinking that the topic under discussion is an Indo-Pak One Day. I may probably attract the same worthies post some inane comments in response to this post as well but hell, what do I care? You, the Service Provider should though, if you want to attract half-way sensible people to surf your portal.

I second your opinion. It's high time rediff figure out a way to take care of this or just end the comments feature.

Totally agree mate. All the messages should first be scanned by moderator before being made live. People just write total crap whatever they wish.
WAIT FOR MORE DISASTER TO COME, MORE PANIC TO COME THE EARTHQUAKE, THE TSUNAMI, THE FLOODINGS, THE AVALANCHES, THE FIRE, THE VOLCANOS AND MORE DANGEROUS DISEASES THAN AIDS. ITS ENOUGH AND ENOUGH. SIMPLY WE ARE RESPONSIBLE GOD IS JUST A TOOL
Just read some posts... Good to know that guys think n write.....
Well, every action has equal n opposite reaction. Islam is misinterpreted. Extremists in valley have killed innocents. If we believe in God, and assume for a moment that God exists, admires our good-deeds and punishes for illdeeds, then I think, terrorists / people in valley are getting punished by God. Natural disasters have got their own scientific reasons but it's ultimately God Who runs the show (provided we believe in Him).
So, developed countries in West or Islamic Extremists everyone who is killing innocents would be punished. By this way or that way...
Those who are reading this, please befraid of God. He watches all of us. Please spread peac, love and humanity.

I agree , This wonderful world is GOD creation.Whoever trys to destroy his creation will be punshied one way or other.
I dont know whether the natural calamities are punishment from God, but one thing is whoever crosses his/her limit and do atrocities on others or commits crimes , how strong they may be now, ulitmately they are going to be punished by the Supreme God,either in this world or in the life hereafter.
So after our death God will ask about our deed whether they are good or bad and He is going to reward us like that.So its better to thing about ourself how we are and how our life after death is going to be than thinking about others whether they are good or bad.
So lets thing about ourself and as human being let help others expecting nothing from them.
Humn beings are spreading all over the planet like a virus. instead of adapting to the surroundngs, destroying evrything in their path..this is not natural and nature will find a way to cure the desease that is humans...
