Try That in Lallu Land
by Tigger_and_Pooh on Apr 05, 2007 01:41 AM  Permalink

I am really glad for all the messages posted by you guys ..........
These messages will clearly give Kanhaiya shah(Ken ) a real good view of what people think about his case.........
First of all they go there thinking that they are done, then they file for ASYLUM, play second fiddle there and finally when US decides to deport, they come back crying to india.
and ever so ready to do bogu for americans.
And this la muhir want us to believe that their lawyer cheated them for 16 years.

I totally believe that Ken would have got the message and will convert back to kanhaiya shah from KEN shah............

Try that in Lallu Land...

Here is something that Archana should have looked into
by raj on Apr 05, 2007 12:46 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Archana,
Next time you write an article make sure you know all the facts rather than getting only one side of the story.
Check this link out
http://www.overlawyered.com/2007/03/ken_sah_spelling_bee_father.html
Ken Sah's visa expired in 1991 and then he went for political Asylum. This article also gives the reason he stated. I think he already used US media to try and win the case for him and now he is doing it with rediff.

I do not sympathize with them
by Surendra Upadhaya on Apr 05, 2007 12:27 AM  Permalink

I think this couple is trying to emotional fool of Indian people. Common sense tells that they about their visa status all along. How can it is possible that you applied for Asylum and do not know about it. The very fact that you never visited India in 16 years suggests that you knew what you were doing. How come a successful businessman do not find time to visit his folks in India. Now that you are kicked out of that adopted country, you want the Indian people and Government to help you. I am sure you have abused Indian and its polity a lot in you asylum petitions and court hearings. I am sure you submitted false documents about your perceived persecution about the Hindu-Muslim thing.

This story is absurd... no weight. Rediff should refrain from publishing such stupid stuff.

Another: even if you are deported, why can't you establish a good life in India. You can help India by opening hotels and motels and employing Indian people. You can investe all your money from US in India. recall your whizkid and put him up in a best school. Spelling Bee winning is not a indication of anything great. Anybody can ratao the dictionary and win.. It is hard work and not smart work.

Grow up Mr and Mrs Shah and Rediff!!!

People like this are always trying to scam the system....
by on Apr 04, 2007 11:49 PM  Permalink

There is no possible way they did not know they were applying for asylum- and if they did not they should never have stood up in court and lied that they were being persecuted in India(either way they lied at least once).
The Indian government should never try to defend a citizen who clearly breaks the law. The vast majority of Indians who go to the US are their legally and the system would be a joke if these guys are allowed to return. Actually they are lucky the US gives automatic citizenship to anyone born there otherwise there 'brillant' son would be stateless.
I hope these people are shuned in India for insulting India by claiming to be a refuge.

No sympathy
by Arvind on Apr 04, 2007 11:30 PM  Permalink

They should be happy that they had INDIA to come back to, a country they did not bother to visit for 16 yrs. US was right in denying their application for political asylum, only mistake was they took so long to do it.

The reporter is clueless
by Ripa Shah on Apr 04, 2007 11:26 PM  Permalink

Like many people who observed below, the person who wrote this article is clueless about immigration laws. That may be OK - but she has no business bringing her ignorance into journalism. Her blog can be found at the location given below. Let us all flood her guestbook so she doesn't turn in an under-researched story again.

Either this Archana Masih is so stupid that ..
by sree on Apr 04, 2007 11:00 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

.. she does not ask the obvious Qs :
a) you insulted India by claiming you were being persecuted and asked a foreign country to help you and NOW that it has failed, you are asking INDIA to help you? Are we indians shameless? Would a black american go to china for asylum, get denied, then come back to los angeles and expect help??

b) Why not get the Kid over to study here.. (oh they don't want to lose their $$$)

c) Smart enough to run hotel, pay taxes, get permits (it takes 16 permits to start a restaurant in texas) BUT didn't know he had applied for poitical asylum?

OR

Archana Masih thinks REDIFF readers are so stupid they wont call her on this BS.

My Q: What are the qualifications
a) for a person to become a REDIFF journalist?
b) for a news item to be worthy of reporting in REDIFF?

(HINT:
a) be dropped on the head as a baby
b) items that insult the reader's intelligence
)
