After the incident of Nandigram, the left supported SFI has lost both in Jadavpur University(After a decade) and Presidency college. This indicates that the countdown has begun for the Communist Govt.
The real damage is being done by Mr Laxman Seth,Mr Binoy Kongar and after the incident of 14th Marchh, farmers everywhere are tarumatised. Now even if Authorities measure land for widening of road, villagers are running after them.WB has been shifted back by 30 years once again.
Will Nirupam Sen ever be able to acquire 1000 acre of land in Burdwan's fertile lands, which is his constituency and CPIM has probably strongest presence there.
Now Nirupam Sen says: he needs 72000 Acres (250 SQUARE KM) for Chemical Hum and they will get it around Haldia!
Make no mistake, CPIM will NOT get 250 Square KM of land in Haldia. people will simply revolt as Nandigram.
Events of Nandigram shows CPIM is fast loosing its political space amongst its own cadre base.
Its one thing to lecture on industrialization, but its one thing to give up small fertile land which are primary source of earning for large section of poor families.
Being born n brought up in 60s in Kolkata, I have seen and participated in the student movements of SFI during 80s, heard about the rich history of the political group et al. Things began changing during early '90s and I left kolkata like many other like minded people as the state govt started showing its other side of the face. Things became worse later on and it still continues. Soon we are going to see the ugliest face of this 'sarkar' which will resemble and perhaps override the similar situation in Bengal prior to '77, the 'raj' of congress. Population of Bengal brought these monsters of today in '77 ( when they were really energetic under the dynamic leadership of Jyoti Basu ) and they will only take them out of the business. Problem is one only, to continue the politics of 'paiye deoa ' ( read : to make others get something and me governing all )It did work well for 3 decades ( longest in the world ! ) and they hired the best best brains for that. After all, its not easy to fool the educated, intelligent and intellectual electorate of Bengal and they DID it for 3 decades in a row. I appreciate the guys. But now its a complex situation, resources are limited ( as they never bothered to let the economy grow, people flourish, set up industries and all, they just maintained their duties of how to get the vote banks filled up and in the process did some comendable job in agri sector as well, no denying of that. But it was part of the strategy only, not looking at the eyes of the poors and have nots, intention was mising )and the list of ' paiye deoa ' people is too large. They are lurking and threatening of taking away support with which the most scientifically managed vote hacking takes place in Bengal, now what the govt will do, they have little choice. They are bringing more and more Harsh Neotias in the form of TATAS and SELIMS. The investors are happy too, multi million project at throw away price! who stops investing? That too at the cost of thousands ( may be lacs as of today ) auto drivers, whose profession will be in a critical point as the three wheelers will have automatic exit at the entry of 1 lac rupee taxi! I saw Metro Railway under construction during school days and when I was about to get married at 30, it started full operation, the first of its kind in India and the longest time taken to complete the same in the world! Public life gone under several stress during those two decades of 'metro making', the city became a hell ( which continues to be, today also ). Anyway, no more speech, let's hope for the best in the coming days ahead, may GOD bless all good minded people and curse the reverses, to make this world, country and state at the top once again. 1. BANGLAR MATI, BANGLAR JAL, BANGLAR MATI, BANGLAR PHAL, ,DHANYA HAUK, DHANYA HAUK, DHANYA HAUK, HE BHAGABAN. 2. BHARAT ABAR JAGAT SABHAY SHRESTHA ASANA LABE.

It looks like when just tired & sleep, some guys like you, during that time, a guy slid something in my... How many complaints, how auto wala's got affected!!! Why this much crocodile tears!!! I don't know Bengali, but I know something Bharath Madahi Jai!!!
After reading the posts, I can understand one thing!!! Some people who posts w/o knowing in the map, where India is??? They can effective fool Indians w/ their story!!! Bashing communists at what ever times you want!!! I don't have any objections!!! If they did mistakes, they need punishment!!! But don't relate incidents to any development!!! We all want industrialisation and prosperity!!! But at this cost? Don't tell false stories when Industralization happens!!! Find out the killings & who is culprit & then let us punish those culprit!!! If a crow died in Nandigram, that too will be big now a days!!! How many of you come and give suggestions when Maoists killed people, terrorist killed people, fisherman killed how no one find those killings as In-human!!! I hardly suspect these where some of the oppositions mis-adventure!!!
I am an very strong opponent to COMMUNIST ideaology, but I am writing this after reading the posting from one of the reader:
"We all want industrialisation and prosperity. But at this cost?"
Read this post clearly & understand its meaning and comment!!!
Maoist tied & killed 50 people, those incidents people forget, the next day!!!
We are very sensitive about Nandigram, we never forget, REDIFF will publish these news, repeatedly, because these were happend while doing development work!!! Down communism in West Bengal if they do attrocities, I don't know, I am also one of the person writing from the points from readers posts!!!

U pls understand that there is a huge difference between a civilian commiting a crime and the police committing a crime. Likewise why dont you differentiate between Maoists and the gov of west bengal. maoists commiting crime is no big deal. It is the only way they can establish their identity. But for a gov there are many other ways. to push forward a principle it may face opposition. but a democratic gov can never have the right to crush such opposition in such a MAOISTIC way.

>If a crow died in Nandigram, that too will be big now a days!!! > So its really inhumane to relate peoples died in nandigram are crows. There is a clear distinction between terrorrist and Govt. In democracy Govt's duty is to protect peoples and not to kill em.
How sad !! What a pity !! A great follower of Karl Marx had once said, "There is no moral in politics." It has been adequately proved by the killing of an innocent apolitical child.
When Noida lathicharge happened...CPM Mps were fuming with fury in Parliament. When Sir C.Ps police fired on farmers (long back), he was murderer.. But when CPM hooligans and Police fire and kill dozens of unarmed farmers, it is for self protection. Shame on you communists....

RK - more than one lac people killed during Gujarat communal riot in 2002. No voice heard in such a way what is seeing here.
PKL. April 1, Sunday, 2007. The pulling out of the dead Body of the child after almost a week and more from scorched fields of Nandigram emblemtically becomes the moniker of of dilemmas of transforming backyards of deep countryside and the giant steps to neo-capitalist globalization in the lands of farm-hands' marxists of West Bengal. They instead of encircling the Bestilles of Metropoltan Capital by Millions of starving poor are, now, bent to reverse their strategy of banishung subsistent farm-communities of their poor of their ill-developed cultivated fields to burgeoning seductions of foreign investments sans any assurance of better employment to "Locals".Very obviously this quick transition could produce bloodshed and lasting acrimony amongst Locals and the incoming Investors . Marxists seem paradoxically ,now, to Roll red-carpet to such invasive Capital, pleading that in 21st century there can be no other alternative.D. Goel
One who is not from Bengal and have not seen the activities of the communists cannot just imagine what is possible and what not. These communists start analysing the election result from the polling day itself and prepare themselves. the election day for them is like the studious lot in schools. like the d day of the exam after an year of rigorous preparation(here it is 5 years). strange it may sound but its true. they are meticulous to this extent. in west bengal there are more Party Office than Post Office. They have such a network that they can act as a better substitute of the current Indian Postal System. And as far as this Nandigram ruckus is concerned, it was a show off of the power that they wield. Only just this time it went out of control. Its like fire. You can play with it. But you cant control it always. The central leadership has no control on the regional stronhold. the local leaders have access to firearms. The police is under their control. They can teach anyone a lesson, anytime. Now how can you expect the Chief Minister to control the local hooligans once you have shown them the taste of power it is very difficukt to restrain them. And now you see the result. Once they saw some resistance, they went furious and the result was this massacre. The external world came to know about the figures of casualty from the MEDIA. But were the media able to reach that place. Its difficult for outside people to enter the hinterland and come out with exact details. The figures were the tip of the iceberg. Bodies were thrown into the rivers and dumped under ground. Nothing unusual for the arms wielding local hooligans. More so when the Police were with them. Whatever we may say now, those poor people are already dead. We all want industrialisation and prosperity. But at this cost?

Communists are at the height of their hypocrisy. They say one thing and do the opposite.See their heroes-Surjeet, Pinarai Vijayan..See Vijayan's quote today paying tributes to Larry Baker.."he was against those people who waste money in building palatial Bungalows"..but the funny thing is Vijayan himself has built a palatial bunggalow in Pinarayi
