Law???
by Anand on Oct 03, 2006 06:29 PM  Permalink

The only wild life our law protects is corrupt politicans and buearucrats. Law does not protect anyone else who needs to be protected. There is no protection for humans in our country, then where arises the question of protecting wild life???

two separate issues
by Arun on Oct 02, 2006 09:10 PM  Permalink

The tiger's death in a national park is terrible. It is a wildlife sanctuary, and hence should be policed well to prevent poachers, but I believe that the forest department has an acute manpower and equipment shortage. Project tiger isnt the government's priority and hasnt been for a while now. Saving the tiger doesnt bring in votes.

As far as the elephant getting run over by a truck is concerned was an accident. There is nothing anybody could have done about that. One, animals should not be allowed to run amok on streets - it is a traffic hazard and could cause fatal accidents... what if this was a car/minivan instead of a truck and the elephant fell on it? There is a place for everything-wildlife belongs to the wilderness not the concrete jungle.

I see nobody is bothered about the truck driver - did he make it?

Can you do something?
by Jagan on Sep 29, 2006 09:17 PM  Permalink

Despite the doom and gloom, Yes we can do something
Simple things
1. Pick up and don't litter from now and forever.
2. Donate a smalll amount to people who are trying to help the environment. I know that all of us have various needs but do something now.
3. If you have land in some rural part of India plant some trees and don't sell it for a few paltry bucks so that somebody can make a concrete structure on it.
4. Get together with your firend and start a project on your free time to clean one small area around where you live.
5. Instead of spending all your life at the office go out and support the local organisations that are working to preserve what is left.
6. Now this is a more aggressive idea that I had made to the auto makers and here goes. Pool some money with yours friends and buy one old dilapidated car at a time and scrap it, i.e take it permanently off the roads so that there one less vehicle causing pollution.
5. When you dirve, do not try to beat the system and cause a traffic block so that the automobiles are idling in a jam, causing much more pollution and harm to the environment.

Instead of talking, do something. The rewards are tremendous

Good Luck

Nature
by Devendra on Sep 29, 2006 12:52 PM  Permalink

It is bad to see this happening but when we are allowing murderers to get away, how can we expect our system to work for poor animals who cannot even express their anger over what we do.

do we care for our nature
by sanjay prabhughate on Sep 29, 2006 11:05 AM  Permalink

We are not willing to control pollution. Ozone layer is also reducing. Global warming is the example of ending of nature including human being. We kill animals & cut trees just for few returns but it harms a lot to nature cycle. Our corrupt politicians dont want to protect or take care of nature & animals. Do we kill animals because we are afraid of them? No. Builders are cutting trees , new infrastructure projects reduces nature, forests but efforts are not taken to increase forest. Humans are most dangerous animals on the earth. As every body know Nagasaki & Hiroshima incidence. Human is enemy of human as well as nature. He can destroy anything. If there is no nature there will not be human being. We are there because of Nature. Nature can survive with out us but we can not survive without nature. Big organizations also come forward to create awareness in general public to protect nature & earth

laws of Nature
by Girish on Sep 29, 2006 10:42 AM  Permalink

The laws of Nature are very universal, simple and fixed.
We have become too self occupied and righteous in assuming we can tweak them and play with Nature as we wish. The dark truth is, Nature goes Despite us and Not becoz of us. The best way for us to return to Nature.
