Our constitutional experts had decided this song as a national song since 1950.Because it has been inspiring both muslims and hindus together to protect our country.Vande\\\'s real meaning is not worship as one muslim scholar told in an interveiw,he told also in Urdu one word \\\'Aadmi\\\' have two meanings. So it our responsibility to respect our national song. Now what happened? All parties even muslims also participated on Sep 7th and sung it unitedly.Only some sections of muslims who made hue and cry against this song, should learn some lesson from this event.

thats the right thing to do
by khalid khan on Sep 08, 2006 04:45 AM  Permalink

This is the right thing to do. I believe that patriotism is not based on which song you. One of the aspects of patriotism is to respect the feelings and sentiments of the people of the land. Patriotism is born when a person feels that he is getting respect and not by following the stringent rules which do not serve anything to the development or progress of the country. I know the meaning of vande mataram very well and that is why I dont want to sing it because my religion teaches not to bow in front of anyone and that is principle we follow to death and it is not that we are against someone. My religion teaches how to be patriot and we follow the way we are taught. It is exactly like a brahmin being vegetarian. Lot of people can argue for and against being vegetarian. But I believe that is his principle and he will follow it. Following a principle is being religious.

misconcept

Fanatic muslims and political leaders misleading the muslim community.Instead of vandemataram', sare jahase achcha was sung by madarsa pupils is meaningless.Even no doubt about their patriotism, on the eve of vandemataram centenary celebrations, they should have sing vandemataram. Though govt have given option to sing any song, but muslims should have prove their responsible Indianness by singing vandemataram.vande's real meaning is salute. In Jordan muslims bow their head before King by singing national anthem. Bangladesh's nationalanthem repeats the word 'mother'for 4 times. In our history muslims bow their heads before nawabs. One of the greatest musician Badegulamalikhan bowed before goddess Saraswathi.A.R.Rahman has inspired the young with his melodious style of vandemataram. In 1905 Hindus and muslims together fought against Britisher by singing this song. What objections muslims have raising for it,are baseless.Only religious fanatism and power politics are main factors of this controversial concept. The vandemataram song inspires us with its wonderful meaning.without knowing this these fundamentalists destroying our national collective values gradually. It is shamful to our nation.

Re: Patriotism versus God

Hi all,

If someone ask me to prefer between God and the country. I would prefer God who is my creator rather than country or the whole world.

If we Muslims cannot remain loyal to our Master then how could someone expect us to be loyal to any country.

At least me I can overide country and the world also for the sake of my Master who is the creator of this world and me.

In your view,is our president Abdulkalam against God?NO.Not only president, many muslim scholars, musicians have been praying God as well as our nation. There should be no conflict between God and nation, because the nation was built by God only.God never says that you don't salute to others. It is your fictious thought only.In the name of God, you have been opposing and disrespecting your own motherland and hindu brothers'noble values,it is only foolisness.

There no hindus or muslims or christians or sikhs - Just Indians
by k dsouza on Sep 07, 2006 08:22 PM  Permalink

If Lucknow Madarassa is singing "Saare Jahan se", will it convince other fellow indians or so called "Indian Patriotic" that Indian muslims are patriotic.

Its clear cliche that editors & reporters of rediff are making such articles just to differentiate between hindus & muslims. Articles like these create ethnic rift and make us realise that being Indian citizens first we are still muslims or christians and we are really in minority.

I appeal to reporter of this article to refrain from igniting ethnic imbalances.

singing of vande mataram
by experio on Sep 07, 2006 08:05 PM  Permalink

Indian society has matured a lot over the years, and all these idiotic ploys of crafty politicians like Arjun Singh to create a stir to move the voting bank in their favor does not seem to be working anymore... salute to the Indian society for that!!!

it's another matter how can the govt make it mandatory by law to sing any song (whether national song or any other)... it does not make one unpatriotic if one does not chose to sing the song... it can be an advisory or a recommendation, but how can the govt issue a directive with this regard!! I am surprised..

worshipping the nation
by anil joshi on Sep 07, 2006 08:04 PM  Permalink

worshippin the nation is not a crime in any religion if it is like so,then there shoud be no national anthem in any Islamic country, but in most of the countries they have there own nation anthem, worship does't mean a hindu worship, the only reason of opposing it is because it is in sanskrit which some muslim leader thinks it is an interferrance in islam, the only tragedy is it not in arabic or urdu .
if this will continue the day will come when Jan gan man will also against islam

Shame to the Author and Nation
by Madhava Krishna on Sep 07, 2006 08:03 PM  Permalink

If they feel that worshipping anyone other than Allah is a sin as per their tradition, they are too dangerous to be in India. Because, tomorrow if war comes, they do not have directives to say "Jai Hind" because, they may say again that we can not praise anyone than Allah. So, the army is divided on this cause. How come these people still survive in other countries? Indian government has to either change the national song or accept that they can not respect it completely to appease some political parties.

Dear Leftists, look at what they did to your favourite author from your favourite land (Bengal)? Are you still feeling this as OK?

All the best India and Sorry Sri. Bankimchandra Chatterjee, we are not united yet.
