This is the right thing to do. I believe that patriotism is not based on which song you. One of the aspects of patriotism is to respect the feelings and sentiments of the people of the land. Patriotism is born when a person feels that he is getting respect and not by following the stringent rules which do not serve anything to the development or progress of the country. I know the meaning of vande mataram very well and that is why I dont want to sing it because my religion teaches not to bow in front of anyone and that is principle we follow to death and it is not that we are against someone.My religion teaches how to be patriot and we follow the way we are taught. It is exactly like a brahmin being vegetarian. Lot of people can argue for and against being vegetarian. But I believe that is his principle and he will follow it.
