on vandemataram conflict
by suryanarayana on Sep 07, 2006 01:24 PM  Permalink

sir,
it is very unfortunate that some people saying that saluting or worshiping the mother land and the people who keep us survive and go aheed is some thing to do with religeon. saluting is a matter of expressing gratitude to some one who helped or helping us. if any religeon says not to be loyal or show gratitude to one who helps you , then the learned man may spend some time to realise the credentials of the system being called a system.

Vande Matram gets validated by clerig
by sanjaya gupta on Sep 07, 2006 01:22 PM  Permalink

Well what the Mulana Kable ..... has commented is commendable I would say he is gustsy. I am quite stunt with the fact why we have to look for validation of our nation in todays world. Why we are not strong enough to say India is a nation of variety of strains of man kind with different beliefs and habits - let us all be prud of that fact.

Going to an Irish missionary school myself - the only prayer that we ever said was a chatholic one - those who didn't want to recite were never segregated but yeh the national anthem every one sang with a fervour including the missionaries themselves. Where does religion come in being a patriot and a good national. Yeh if any one has a disconnect with being nationalistic or anti the nation I think the law of the land should take its own course without any exception.

Shia cleric on Vande Mataram
by Rajeev Shekhar on Sep 07, 2006 01:22 PM  Permalink

Dear Sirs,

I thank Rediff.com to explore the basis of the controversy over singing of the Vande Mataram in praise of Mother India.

This article has clearly brought out that "Vande" means salutation to the Mother - as envisaged by the author - Bankim Chandra Chaterjee. Thus no Indian - Hindu / Muslim / Sikh / Christian / etc would disagree to singing of "Vande Mataram".

The whole unseeming controversy seems just because the BJP has raked up this matter(as Maulana Kalbe Sadiq says). This is most unfortunate for us Indians.

Thanks to people like the Maulana, we may still have some great leaders who may influence their temperamental followers to rise one as PROUD INDIANS.

Thanks
Rajeev Shekhar

Controversy on VENDE MATARAM
by Naveen on Sep 07, 2006 01:22 PM  Permalink

I request Shia cleric and All India Muslim Personal Law Board Vice-President Mr.Maulana Kalbe Sadiq to speak to the concern, without giving any room to the Political Parties, and resolve the issue amicably.

Waste of time
by Salil on Sep 07, 2006 01:07 PM  Permalink

All this is plain politics. Muslim and Sikh groups have both supported and opposed singing of the national song, something which has always been a matter of controversy. There are millions of Muslims and Sikhs around India who do not have a problem with singing the song. It has nothing to do with faith. All those proclaiming it to be anti-Muslim are again playing politics. They should be ignored downright. And those champions of nationalism, who are equating the singing of the song to being patriotic were themselves shown in poor light when asked to sing the song on TV. Just goes to show that their brand of patriotism is more about word than deed.

my comments on vande mataram
by veena prashant joshi on Sep 07, 2006 12:51 PM  Permalink

I personally feel that stopping muslims to sing vande mataram is totally wrong, because I feel that every person who sings vande mataram is a Indian first and then his religion comes to the way. No body can stop a Indian from singing his national song.

Nationality comes first .
We are the Indian First then any one else.

I am proud to be an Indian.

Vande mataram. Jai hind

Vande Mataram brouhaha
by C Selod on Sep 07, 2006 12:47 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Hven't we had enough of this non-issue being blown so out of proportion?! Arent there any other issues which are of life & death importance to our people than the singing of songs?

Media is a powerful medium but is being frittered away in stupid controversies, which really dont matter. This sort of thing is expected of rag papers, not esteemed sites. Are people going starve? die? fall sick because they do or do not sing a song?

I feel its silly to even celebrate anniversaries of bits of poetry or books or art works... , if we are to do justice this way, then there wont be place for actual issues to be raised!!

Should we react so passionately about the differences in a community? Showing all muslims the door of Pakistan is so old hatered talk that it hardly makes sense in this century. We intellectuals at least should not fall prey into politics of hatered and take lessons from the Mumbaikers and those in Malegaon how they handled themselves in the aftermath of bomb blasts there. Let us spread love for all.

Sir, dt:07-09-06

As per Sunni Muslims belief, the Shia Muslims are not at all Muslims, hence there is no point in taking into account their cleric's talks. Fight of belives are continued between the two communities since around 1400 years. How can Sunni people follows their talks. We simply ignore them. (Ismail Shaik)
