A close scrutiny may show that loans (from loansharks at exhorbitantly criminal usurious rate) for dowries and weddings feature prominently in these suicides, as crops fail due to drought, making it impossible to repay even the interest, far les the loan itself. To say that the govts are useless do-nothings would be the understatement of the year - only with elctions on the horizon do politicians become "concerned" about the epidemic of suicides. Unless govt start regulating loan-sharks, and start providing farmers access to capital at reasonable rates and terms, then suicides will become the norm rather than the exception. Govt must also take steps to prevent excessive expenses incurred on weddings and such like - may high-handed but necessary under the circumstances.
to prevent all side loot of farmer laws are to be strict & farmers must be treated like small scale industry & give loan, other ssi benifits. Baliraja will only servive if there is world wide change of attitude towards farmers. They have got land but due to loan, dowary they frustrate & politicians loot them even after death by letting their heirs beg for mercy of 2 time food. All indian who earn more than 10000 per month salary must contrubute rupees 100 per month for his baliraja (farmer) state & central governments should directly deduct the rs. 100 every month for welfare fund of farmers. Let our poor farmer get what he wants. My grand grandfather was farmer he gave my grand father british matric education & my grand father became deewanji he got some salary which was very very less, but my grand father in turn remain hungry for 1 time & saved money & made my father advocate then my father got job. Like this every farmer is kept away from education because there trade of education every where. If farmer get education then negative thinking will be removed from his mind by councelling. It's blatant shame on the part of the government when it is exporting wheat from other countries and the Agricultural output has been reduced, it should come for the aid of the farmers who are the back bone of our country food needs, it should start SAPZ(Special Agricultural Productivity Zones) on the lines of SEZ and a common minimum price should be framed all over the markets and eliminate middle men then only farmers can sustain and reap benefits form the agricultural produce. Over the years farmers are wandering in dark without any specific information regarding the right crops at right seasons government should start a nation wide enlightenment programs and should educate farmers on organic farming and other new agricultural methods.
