CBI Nails George Fernandes
by Soman Nair on Oct 11, 2006 04:35 PM  Permalink

I dont understand the mindset of NDA Allies. Whatever they say is correct and all the other polticians are currept. They have spoiled the entire defence procurement by pursueing the shadow of Bofors for about Twenty years. Why George Fernandes is so scared of an enquiry if he is innocent? On the other hand if he suspect the integrity of CBI, what is the basis for it? Is it that he himself had a first hand knowledge about it during the years he was in power?

When he vociferousely pursued a case on the similar grounds against a former P.M., he must have the courrage of facing such situations himself.

Please note my intention is not question the personal integrity of those involved until it is prooved otherwise

Soman Nair

CBI names

In our country the CBI unfortunately is not that independent, nor that capable to ferret out what the truth is or was; as in the case of Bofors. Could any charge be proved against the ex-PM Sri Narsingha Rao by the then CBI chief who was from Andhra?

Allegations aginst Adm Sushil Kumar (Retd)
by raviG42 on Oct 10, 2006 06:52 PM  Permalink

The CBI has surpassed itself in its incompetence. The Barak missile was imported because of the repeated delays in delivery of the Trishul to the Navy by the DRDO, after annual promises for six years. In 1999, the RM was witness to a Trishul missile diving into the water soon after launch at Kochi, like several of its predecessors.I was present there.
Soon after that the decision to import the anti-aircraft/anti-missile defence missile was taken. - The Navy was defenceless against incoming missiles. But the DRDO was in self-defence mode, and objected to the import.
The decision was in the country\\\'s interest- but that presumably did not cut any ice with the CBI.

Fernandes's involvement in scam or witch-hunting
by Dr. Dhanakar Thakur,Spokesman,International Maithili Council on Oct 10, 2006 06:27 PM  Permalink

The allegation by the CBI
" former naval chief Kumar 'colluded with other accused to put up a note' to Fernandes to import the Barak systems, despite objections from the Defence Research and Development Organisation. Fernandes 'not only approved the proposal but tried to get it approved by the CCS', the agency alleged."

seems hardly convincing that Fernandes was a party- if it was then whole the CCS should have been impicated.

Such witch-hunting will have no result like previous Tehleka or Bofors deal or Hawala??

RE:Fernandes in the scam!!!

i fully agree,Investigative agencies in this country work for their political masters and serve as their bullying arm is very clear. Institutions like CBI,ED,etc should be brought under the purview of the president just like the armed forces or else the investigative powers of these institutions should be snatched away and given to the armed forces and allegations against people in power should be investigated by armed forces under the monitoring and supervision of the opposition party. Only then, will this form of vindictive politics end, otherwise quatrocchi will get away when sonia is in power, and george fernandes will torture tehelka when vajpayee or advani is in power. The main opposition party should play the role of the watchdog and the truth will come out only if investigations against the govt are handled by the opposition and the president.
