The CBI has surpassed itself in its incompetence. The Barak missile was imported because of the repeated delays in delivery of the Trishul to the Navy by the DRDO, after annual promises for six years. In 1999, the RM was witness to a Trishul missile diving into the water soon after launch at Kochi, like several of its predecessors.I was present there. Soon after that the decision to import the anti-aircraft/anti-missile defence missile was taken. - The Navy was defenceless against incoming missiles. But the DRDO was in self-defence mode, and objected to the import. The decision was in the country\\\'s interest- but that presumably did not cut any ice with the CBI.
