It is now time some sort of policing is done on our Policemen. At one time, when I was younger, a policeman was looked up to, because he was fair and honest and worth looking up to... barring a few good men at the top, today's policemen are merely goondas in uniforms & henchmen of radical political parties who imported them from villages, to swell votebanks. They are a blot and as such we need to police the police force... instead of being secure the populace is actually scared of being suddenly blamed for things they haven't done. They do not file FIRs at will, no one can go to them for redress, during the riots, they either took part or just watched atrocities without lifting a hand... so how is the common person to feel secure with this police force? I implore the higher ups to first clean up the Police force, so the public can feel safe again
directionless article. I think Sheela Bhatt was writing OK in Abhiyan a Gujarati magazine. This article is wayward and relating various states' elections or CM's speeches to the Indo-Pak relations and terrorism looks Childish.
The chief Minister of J&K is pleading for the mercy of the convicted terrorist Afzal Guru.
The Chief Minister of UP says that SIMI members are innocent in Mumbai blast.
The Prime Minister of India embraces the President of the Rouge state of Pakistan. He does not consider Pakistan to be sponsoring terrorism but is a victim of it.
Our National Security Adviser wants to test Pakistan for its sincierity in containing cross border terrorism (ie conducting virginity test on a pregnant woman).
The present dispensation at the center and most states are not addressing the issue of terrorism. They seem to be in waiting for a strong leader like Narender Modi to tackel it.
This is a clear example of media politicising a grave national security issue. I can't understand your twisting of the whole issue on BJP while clearly the focus must be leaders calling for clemency or at least the implementation of judicial process.
Where did Hindutva politics come in picture when people are objecting to playing politics by Congress. How can a person who planned, attacked the Parliament and in the process killed people can be let free. Can a criminal become less criminal if he is a minority. Any political party is not above the country. Country and the Parliament are supreme. Please write articles with maturity. Do not see politics in every subject. Can we prevent these people asking for clemency for Dawood or Anis or Memons tomorrow? If these are accepted, people will commit bombings, hijacks, cool off in prison if arrested and come out and practice the same things again and agin. Please do not see politics in every thing. Jai Hind.
PKL. OCT 3,Tuesday '06 The survey by your correspondent after Mushaarraf Manmohan Havana Declaration on Joint cooperation against terrorism lately has activated different Political factions in India to garner the newer initiative for their political advantage in general Elections for Assemblies in Punjab , UP,UA and elsewhere.Very obviously JK chief Minister , and other Kashmiri leaders in seeking reprieve Afzal's life for the dastardly attack on Parliament and lately Mumbai culprits in terroist outrages being alleged to be ISI handwork brings fears to Pro-Secularist and pro-Pakistani Red-Green Lobby in the UPA estt.It of course is godsend to Hindutva flaunderers for a cause ...these things prove it is no body's concern to defend Indian people's life ,limb and liberty or property , just to turn everything as grist to their Vote -Bank calculating machines!D.Goel
This article definitely shows the writer has tried to get all the possible possibilities in the open. I don't know whether all this is true or just another speculation, what I do know is all this is definitely not going to make my country safe or grow further. To be honest, when we come to things like national security, terrorism I do not care which party is the government. All I do care about is of corrective and immediate measures to undo terrorism and expect every Indian and national party to support it - irrespective of any religion, caste creed and without any political interest.
