Tibet is part of China
by Jonathan on Nov 17, 2006 11:08 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This guy Tenzin Choeying should be hanged for sedition if he steps foot in Tibet.

Tibetans don't have a right to secede from China if the rest of China is unwilling. If the Tibetans want their independence, they will have to go to war with the rest of China, like the southern Confederate States of America during the US Civil War. The Confederacy lost the US Civil War.

India's support for Tibet is the main reason why Sino-Indian relations is so poor. Why are Indians so idealistic? You can't have everything in life. If the Tibetans want independence, they need to go to war against China, not shout empty slogans. That's reality.

Well said, in the true Yankee spirit. You know, maybe you should just be concerned with what's going wrong with your own country instead of trying to force your perceptions of reality on others. As far as the rest of the world knows, you bloody Yanks have made the lives of the people of Iraq miserable by invading it. Sure, you owerthrew a suppossed to be tyrant but there's more tyranny and opression in Iraq now as oppossed to Saddam's regime. The ever increasing body count is a case in point.

I think the Chinks are born double crossers and they are the real threat to India and the whole region. What India should really do is to develop it's nuclear offensive and defensive capabilities so that countries such as China will think more than twice before attempting an occupation. Power respects Power. No one respects a nation bowing down to international pressure.

Tibetans have a right to fight for their independence. China cannot trample over their gardens just because Tibetans are a peaceful & innocent race who cannot fight back. India should lend it's guns to the Tibetan freedom struggle as "Kaboom" is the only language the Chinese understand.

As I had predicted.
by Vishnu Sharma on Nov 17, 2006 10:46 PM  Permalink

Arresting one Tenzin will only result in a thousand other Tenzin's rearing to replace him.

I hope Hu's Visit is blanketed by mass protests.
I hope he sees a mass of "FREE TIBET" flags and hears horns blaring their protests.
India which is democratic by nature cannot do anything about curtailing these.

I know several police officers who completely sympathize with the protesters and will do absolutely nothing to stop them.

If you want to see shocking videos of Chinese soldiers
shooting Tibetans who are crossing a snow covered pass
to India. It is widely available on the web.
After doing their dirty work we see them sitting on
a mound of snow and grinning and calmly smoking cigarettes.

I appreciate your attempt to be unbiased but pity that you have the same mentality that has ensured that India inpite of all its earlier prosperity has never been a great military power for long. Please do not equate our claim to Kashmir with Chinese claims to Arunachal. Chinese claims to territory has always been bogus. If any Chinese emperor had occupied some territory even for a few hours the Chinese claim that historically the territory belonged to China. Hence please do not make unholy comparisons

RE:why is everyone so biased?
by PUMA on Nov 22, 2006 12:10 PM  Permalink

What do you want to say here? Being less/wrong informed you got confused and being in this state, you are trying to utter something else...

Occupation is Occupation. There is no magic or fun here.

Tibet is a independent nation and is occupied in a brutal manner.

Kashmir, during our parition was declared as integral territory of India. It shares its every breath with rest of India. And is occupied by silly paks after a brutal war.

No one is claiming beijing or shanghai here. Try to understand. Everyone has their own rights.

I completely agree with the author; chinese are so possessive; right from vietnam to their western borders they believe that they had possession of more territories. I really fear when they become even more important in the world affairs. The world will become more unorderly. People talk about the relation between china, india and Russia; but i believe it's the relation with US, UK and the likes will be helpful in the longer run. Mark my words.

Never trust any one and always keep your nations Interests
by Nag on Nov 17, 2006 08:48 PM  Permalink

What India should do is never trust any other nation, never depend on any other nation for any thing very important like this. It doesn't mean go and fight with them, prepare for war, what it means is have a very clear foreign policy and be aggressive today's world if you have a Nuke even US fears for NK(such a small and poor economy). So have your Military balance and at the same time maintain normal relations with your neibouring countries. If a country leader claims that one of our states is theirs, before even the peace talks, what kind of motivation they have in real problem solving, i wish India tell them officially this sounds China do not have a real intention for peace, with out even begening the talks they can't make such irresponsible coments. See Chinese have been keeping our progress in check with pakistan on west and with their own sponsered terror in eas. We should do the same thing with them let them realize terro has no liking to any one. Let them feel the pain of Terro, can't we do that to China and then say Tibet is ours. See how they are checking US with North Korea and how US is trying to check them with Thaiwan. We should do similar things.

Hu Jintao
by C D Pereira on Nov 17, 2006 06:31 PM  Permalink

This article evokes strong feelings, considering the plight of Tibetans in Tibet, & those in exile. Confidence building is one thing, but the exploitation of Tibet region by the Chinese, their claim to Arunachal, & putting the border issue on 'back burner' etc does not make for security & long term settled peace. The situation is like the dagger dangling above, or the head being inside the wide open mouth of the dragon!!

by Gopinath P G on Nov 17, 2006 06:25 PM  Permalink

Claiming Arunachal is to bring pressure on India to clear trade pact favouring Communist China(our CPM's motherland)and also to get the harbour contract as they can spy on Indian Navy.It 9is high time India tell China that if they can put claim to Arunachal we can claim Tibet too as the Macmohan line treaty is concerning Tibet and Arunachal whereby Arunachal is recognoised as India's and Tibet China's.We should support dalai Lama aqnd Tibetans and ask for their indepedence from China. We fully support the Tibetans

Homeland
by S.Hariharan on Nov 17, 2006 06:22 PM  Permalink

It is heartening to note the feelings of the Bhumi Puthras{sons of the soil}.Like the Kashmiri Pundits they have to live as foreginers in their own homeland. A few days back I was in Kulalampur on a holiday visit. The muslim population is 60% and balance Chinese and Indian origins. The main feeling is that the income disparity between the Bhumi Puthras and others. they mean Chinese. But I was recollecting the sanskrit word Bhumi Puthra.-son of mother earth or son of the soil. Time may perhaps be shifting people from one place to other place leaving imprint of earlier generations.
