Ram Jethmalani
by santosh Tripathi on Feb 20, 2012 10:22 PM  Permalink

It is true that it is the duty of a lawyer to defend his client. but there is a larger duty to uphold the truth. The problem is that the allegiance to client becomes so an overarching principle for lawyers that they go to any extent to distort facts and subvert justice. I have not read about what jethmalani has said about Jessica lal in the court but if he has said something not based on facts and has tried to malign the girl then Jethmalani will die an unhappy man.

Jethmalani - Devil's Advocate?
by Rabi Kanungo on Nov 18, 2006 06:40 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Sir,
There is an old Oriya saying: Skill can not supercede honesty. The whole issue, from the inceident to resurrection of the Jesica murder case, not only has suffered due to our judcial road map and prosecution system, but India has many brilliant Jethmalanis who never care for public honesty. In stead, let Shri Jethmalani be appointed as a one-man commission to enquire and report as to who really killed the girl? With pain and yet in fun, we can wait to see that he proves an absurd: The girl has not been killed!

Jethmalani denies maligning Jess
by labrea on Nov 17, 2006 11:06 PM  Permalink

Jethmalani is only doing what any good attorney would to defend his client. It's normal proceedural practice for lawyers to create doubt and try to blame someone else for the crime, or both. All those now crowing about his means and methods, were they to become the accused in a case, would be only too happy to have such a savvy, hard-hitting lawyer representing them.

I agree with you and this person proves that manipulation of the facts and truths and proving the untruth to be the facts and truth are todays respect. Such an elderly person and the reknowned personality has manupulated and is trying all sorts of things. He becoming angry and talking foul language it self shows that he is trying to hide the truth.
