All we have to do is to prepare ourselves for a possible conflict with the mightly Chinese.

Increase the defense spending to 7-to-9 percent of GDP for next 5 years; focus on modernisation of all the 3 armed forces;

Till we do this - just to buy time - engage in all diplomatic meetings;

To be practical, right now I don't think we are capable of fighting chinese; So let us stop thinking about Pakistan and get ready to take on both Pakistan and China at the same time.

Tibet & Occupied Ladak is the Real Issue...
by PUMA on Nov 18, 2006 10:28 AM  Permalink

No one is to do nothing with any part of this country!

The real issue is with Tibet and China-Occupied-Ladak. So we should be centric with this areas before these guys start doing tricks and magics with non-existence.

Tibet is an independent nation and so what chinese want with Tibet is only by their reversion from China-Occupied-Ladak (Akshi Chin). Its simple!

Anyone tending to put an incorrect step in this will suffer in a way that never happened in the Indian history.

china Plays hard ball with India

Mr.Sun's remark was made straight from the heart and may cost him his job eventually(transferred) Our press has overplayed their music which is now jarring to the ears.Plans for Arunachal Pradesh have been made well in advance and it is not catching each other unaware.Mr.Sun was the instrument through which this message has beeen conveyed so that people on both sides are prepared for the reality.
I am least concerned what China experts have to say they have been shuffling in and out for decades without any decision or result.Holding on to extra territory is like having an extra marital affair!.
Our (China and India) main focus should be development of economy on mutual benefit and cooperation,money to flow in and out of both the countries so that economy grows.Prosperity begins and people on both sides are content.
When the belly is full politics will be cleaner!as even thhe politician realises that political freedom without economic backing is meaningless!
China experts may fret and fume over this remark but they too realise that it is the money they get is their sixth sense without which their other five senses would not work!Good Luck! Think Better,Think Bigger

Himalayan neighbours
by Tapan on Nov 18, 2006 07:43 AM  Permalink

we may as well accept that Tibet will never be an independant country... but we should insist for a stonger autonomy for Tibet. the Dalai Lama should be able to go back to Lhasa and be the leader of his people, within the safety of Chinese territory.
together with Arunachal.. we must remind China of Aksai-Chin. we must impress that both sides are equally needy of such disputed territories.
we must make it clear to China that India has come a long way from Nehru's days. a strategic partnership will not only be of mutual benefit but also make the region stronger.
it is time China began behaving like a strong neighbour.. rather than impressing to be a neighbourhood bully, which it isn't really. a friendly India will only help China.. and China should reciprocate.. and stop playing dumb.

We need harder bats for china's hard balls.

Respected Sir,As the chinese intentions are very clear and as their nails have come out of their torn glows it is time for India to be careful.They forgot to remember that true mindset can not be hidden for long one day or other it will come out of the mask.As from the picture of their mindset they are not just trying to compete with us but also to bring down our economy by lowering their price they are using us as ladders to world market as they are unknown to the market.This policy is not one of a befitting friend.Once our economy goes down we may find it difficult to harden our borders with costly defence system and that is what they want.They want Arunachal Pradesh and other disputed areas will they give back all illegally acquired land of our on their side after the Chinese war.As they are trying harder to help the rough nations to strengthen their defence wing their intentions are under question once again.It is time that some nations around us know that we can be very good friends and worst enemies also when the time come.India should stop eating the sweet pills coming from our neighbours and get the pills tested in the lab before prescibing them to us inside the nation.SN
